I did put about 40 hours into it so it wasn’t unenjoyable but eventually I wore myself out on it. For an rpg I tend to need a narrative drive to keep me going more than just the gameplay loop.

Resi Village - returned to it after I parked it during a stressful summer. Not the tonic after a long day. Anyway, it's pretty great.

Path of Exile. I tried really hard to get into Diablo 3 and more recently D2 Resurrected. Torchlight 2 too. None of them clicked for me, but POE, with it’s epic skill tree is growing on me. Does anyone else play it on PS?

I'm back to the Clockwork Mansion level of Dishonored 2 where I drifted away last time. This time I'm a bit more savvy about using blink and chain and determined to finish the game.

Scarlet Nexus - like I mentioned elsewhere this very much feels like Astral Chain but with more dialogue. 5 hours in and loving it so far.
Hot Wheels Unleashed - pretty much arcade racing perfection. The most satisfying drift I've experienced in a long time.

There are clearly too many games in my backlog. Yet another game, which I hope to get to soon. Should be interesting how it compares to the first one. Also in terms of peaceful options. The DLCs already had a bit more to offer in that regard.

Blink is essential (although there is a no powers run option in the second game) and is the only power I ever really used
You get a chance to throat punch/choke enemies in D2 if you get spotted. D2 is a bigger, better game than the first one and Death of the Outsider is well worth playing if you enjoyed Knife of Dunwall. it continues that storyline (together they're pretty much their own game)

Astria ascending
Has a really nice 2D art style, nice change from the pixel art everyone does. But straight away you introduced to your entire party, there is about 8 and put into the story. It would of been better if they introduced about 4 of the character and added new ones. Also side quests are the usual low quality, go here and kill this enemy/steal item from enemy via RNG chance. Thankfully you can play the game on any difficulty, all the reviews say even on normal you will have to grind for XP at points, on easy or very easy its a joke, on easy you can take down a boss in 4/5 hits.
For a game made by "FF veterans" there is a lot of things that should not be there. Will continue
Phoenix point (xbox ver)
Still on the prologue level (base retake) and so far its good and has some good ideas like manual aim when firing and better overwatch (gear tactics use the same idea). I know the PC version was a mess at launch but no bugs so far. Hopefully it does not go full lazy bullshit later on
Last stop
At work they are doing game club for this game on work's message board, its up to chapter 3 and so far the game is pretty bad. its like a telltale game but with ps2 graphics. Its nice its set in london but the character are either annoying or awful. The scene where one of the main characters (meena) threatens a drug dealer, its laughably bad and so is the drug dealer. Also it seems none of your choices affect the story

Also, you can even get a nonlethal takedown in the middle of combat if you shoot them in the knee and then kick them in the head. Videogames!

LTK/Aunt: I'll probably go with Emily and I guess non-lethal as well. Seems like the better course for a first playthrough. I assume the second game still uses a similar moral system? By the way, I'm finished with Two Worlds 2. I did end up liking it. Not that I ever had too many issues with it, but early on on the first big island there were a few too many unmemorable, generic tasks. The more I progressed the more the game became condensed though and personally I felt that was to the game's advantage. The prison and tutorial island at the beginning and the ending section were perhaps three or four hours altogether, the big island took me about 30 hours (with quite a lot of the side content) the second smaller island about 15 (though I started to leave behind more side content) and then there was also a small swampy area before the end which took me perhaps three hours or so. The main continent is mostly reserved for the Multiplayer campaign, but some of the coastal areas are accessible. I didn't do all that much exploring over there, but from what I have read there are actually some interesting things to discover.

Really suits the narrative better and she has an ability that lets you pull in objects from a distance, including from enemies which is really helpful if you're playing stealth/non-lethal
I believe the morality system is basically the same, which never bothered me because I'm a goody two-shoes

Still very early on Bioshock Infinite. Life's been a bit full on the last couple of weeks. Managed a quick go on Saturday and I've got the shotgun and reached two checkpoints. Can't say I really "like" killing people in this as they're just doing their job, so far anyway. I'm also getting some motion sickness which I thinks from the skylines and looking up and down so much.

Was browsing the PS Store and looked at the Roguelike section when I saw spelunky.
Completely forgot that I had purchased it for my Vita years ago but never really got very far, I decided to give it another shot and it's still kicking my arse.
Definitely think I prefer roguelites.

Anyone played Phoenix Point and got impressions? It's just out on consoles and I quite like the look of it.
Recently bought War of the Chosen in a sale but it hasn't got the hooks into me, maybe I'm a little burned out on XCOM2.

Skyward Sword HD
I’m having a really good time with this. About 10 hours in (just done the Earth temple) and I’ve been completely engrossed by it. Played 4 or so hours alone today and I can’t remember the last time I done that with a game. Normally I get fidgety after 45 minutes and that’s fine for the day.
Sure the motion controls can be a little wonky - some of it is, some of it is just learning how to input the motions correctly but the more I’m playing the less issues I have with them- but I don’t mind. It just damn good old era zelda and I’m just been enthralled by it. I’ve been bouncing of loads of games this year but not with this one. Actually need to slow down with this and not try and rush it.
Good level design, intriguing story, really well done characterisations, great music and I just like soaring through the clouds on my big old rooster. The series needed a shake up with BOTW ( and boy did they deliver) but it’s great just to revisit the old formula (and my first time with SS).

MGS Peace Walker on my PSP. Not played this before and it's quite enjoyable. Not having twin analogue sticks hampers the controls though, making the boss fights much harder than they need to be. Just beat the Pupa AI tank thing after 4 or 5 attempts.
It's a great looking game still, considering its running on an ancient handheld

Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze on Switch
The attention to detail in this is incredible, every level just feels so well made. Set pieces all over the place and it's difficult to name stand out levels as they're all just so good and unique. It also completely justifies being 2.5D with it feeling like it adds to the game (rather than being because it's cheaper). The perspective shifts on some of the levels are stunning at times. Noticed on one level that the enemy that had been hounding me the whole time gets eaten by a giant plant in the background if you wait around at the end. Brilliant
It's challenging too, especially the bosses which don't go down easily at all. Even the soundtrack is amazing. Still feel like I'm hearing new tracks all the time and they tie in with the levels perfectly. It all just fits together so well

Just started the Witcher 3 for the first time. It is clearly amazing stuff but I am getting that usual 'big game' starting stuff where there is many tutorials about the world and the game systems and after a long day of work all my brain can comprehend is 15 mins of play before I end up switching to one of the Arcade Archives shmups and blast away mindlessly. I'm not giving up though, the game looks right up my street, so once I know what I'm doing it should be all good.

I've been going back to continue my game in Out of the Park Baseball 21 (last year's one) and am in my fourth season as manager of the Padres. For those who don't know, it's Football Manager, but for baseball, with the stats pumped up to eleven. It's a pretty great simulation.
I've built a superteam and finally reached the World Series in season 3. For a game that's all dusty figures and statistics, it sure can break your heart though.

Yeah you need to stick with the Witcher 3, there is a reason why nobody has a bad thing to say about it.
The systems are quite easy to learn, the combat is very basic really.
The game really shines though with its characters, lore and quests. Its not a typical open world borathon as the writing is absoultely top notch and you will get fully engrossed in it. I've completed the game 3 times which is unheard of for me.

I had a brief hour to myself yesterday, so I started Hitman 2, which was a PS Plus freebie recently. I've never played one of these before, so it felt rather like I was starting in the middle of the story. That notwithstanding, I managed to make a complete dog's bollock of the first mission. I got a magnificent -190,000 for "non-target kills" in the final accounting. Ok, so apparently, outright wholesale slaughter of someone's security is not the way to go in this game. Gotcha. Spent some time after doing the freeform training exercises. Which, clearly, I desperately need. More updates on how hilariously terrible I am at stealth-em-ups to follow, no doubt. Most importantly - was fun.

Does anyone else play it on PS? Out of interest, if you didn't get on with Diablo or Torchlight what made you want to try PoE? I mean it is very firmly in the same genre. Personally Torchlight 2 is my favorite colourful one and Grim Dawn is my favorite dark one.

Started and finished The Town of Light yesterday. Not exactly what you'd call enjoyable, but that's not surprising considering the subject matter. It's about the bad conditions in a mental institution in the Italy of the 1930ies and 40ies. So, bleak and depressing and there is no happy end, but apparently some things can be changed by answering a few "questions" differently. Basically, you decide how your character responds to the abuse at a few points in the game as she is trying to piece together what has happened to her. I used the italian voice-acting with subtitles and the voice actress seemed a bit unemotional considering the subject matter, but perhaps that's just down to me not being used to Italian.

Chapter 4 of Wintermute, for The Long Dark, is out.
I've been really frustrated with all these episodes, despite The Long Dark's sandbox survival mode being one of my favourite games. There are some wonderful things in them, and I admire the effort, but the survival gameplay seems to be fundamentally unsuited to a story mode. For example, in this episode, I've had to go out to get some morphine for a guy that's in bad shape and needs it quick. However, I have now been away three days due to a) having to work around the terrible weather, and b) getting lost, due mostly to dodgy directions. Let's hope he's still alive....
There was a similar conflict in the last episode, where wolves are something you're told to keep well away from, only for the level to be flooded with them including several mandatory encounters.
Lots and lots of wolves in this one too. I got a bit frustrated yesterday but hopefully I can reset my expectations today and enjoy it a bit more, as there is a lot to like (mostly the scenery).

Far Cry 6. Yes more Far Cry but the environments and emergent gameplay always draw me back. Runs well on my 2070 super at 4k - which was a surprise.

Super Metroid
Started it to test out my new emulation machine despite playing it last month. Carried on playing for a bit longer, then just sat down earlier today and ploughed through the bulk of the game up until the last item sweep before the final encounter. I'm missing one missile and one super, which I think is the exact same as last time around FFS. Such a timeless classic. Easily my personal favourite GoaT.
