Just like my recent trip to Basingstoke, as it happens.

I enjoy pickpocketing NPCs for any remaining credits after they’ve paid me for helping them.
Edit: Bollocks. Forgot I had contraband onboard when returning to Jemison. Spent a week in jail, lost 800xp, and all my pilfered belongings gone 🥲

I think I’ve landed my first bugged mission. “Ground pound”, can’t seem to progress because it wants me to kill all spacers, but they’re already dead, Dave. I found a load point from before starting the mission and re-did it. Zero problems. It definitely bugged out for me on the first go. A door that needed opening remained locked so there was no option but to restart.

I had a bug just now I hadn’t seen before- un-docked from a ship that was tied to a quest, and it suddenly teleported 22km away before I could do the thing the quest wanted me to do (blow it up Then the same thing happened again after I did the thing. Not game- breaking, but a bit of a pain.

SFSE has been updated for the new exe.
Any SFSE Plugins you use will have to be updated too. I'm just going to wait. I've got Steam set to update when i launch and i launch via SFSE so from what i've read that will stop the update triggering. I'll find out later i suppose.
edit: I changed nothing, ran Starfield from SFSE in MO2 and i'm playing now without triggering the update.

Blimey... Thought I'd get through some of the story missions for a change. The story just kicked up a notch! One of the artifact missions involving Scow was great fun. Sweet talked my way to the collection and then went on a rampage back through the entire ship with my trusty ember and breach shotty combo.

Nope. He talks about one of the side quests, but only in very vague terms.

Starfield PC game pass back to crashing after the update after it running just fine all week. Once again, can't even launch the game. Beyond frustrating.

Crashing crashing? I had something strange on first launch both times where it was running, I could see it in Task Switcher, but couldn’t make it the primary window until I killed the process and restarted.

Just like my recent trip to Basingstoke, as it happens. Basingstoke Anvil… lovely place for theatre or the odd gig! Saw Ben Folds there a few years back… magical!

Personally I’d put a mild spoiler warning on that Zero Punctuation vid - the side mission it mentions is a whole quest line with a group rather than a single one-and-done, and the way it starts (which the vid mentions) is unique and spoilable.

Yeah it doesn't even get passed (launching). It's not just me it's happening to, and none of the fixes seem to work. It happened to me all late last week but then randomly resolved itself without me changing anything. It's fucking weird man.

Agreed I wouldn't watch it if you aren't a decent way through the game. Part of the joy of these games is discovering things for yourself.
I personally consider any specific mentions and descriptions of what you can find to be spoilers. Even if they don't say where it is, stumbling across something you somewhat expect just isn't the same.

Id guess it's related to the shader preload that happens on first launch and once successfully completed, only required again after an update.

That review resonates with me, feels like a Bethesda game lacking the usual joy of discovery and exploration.

Even though I'm not the biggest fan of Bethesda RPGs, the "oh what's that cool thing over there, let's go have a look" element is a legitimately great thing about them. Lessening that feels like giving up on one of their only real advantages.

That's a very good review. Every complaint seems valid to me and in particular the lack of wonder through exploration. I'd kill to stumble on a Dwemer ruin and get lost in its depths. So far, abandoned bases and shit caves are all I've found.
I'm enjoying it, it's just genuinely missing that magical element.

Really can't disagree with the review, 3/5 sounds harsh because of the 5 point scoring system but it's nothing to be bothered unless you think caring about metascores is a replacement for having a personality.

It is exactly as Molaram says. In skyrim/FO etc it was always the 'what's that over there?' explore and stumbling onto something great that was the best bit.
I have barely explored a planet in this because all the ship and menu navigation put me off. Anything of note on a planet seems to be miles away with not much else in between except for scanning busywork and you know if you are already full of loot you won't be able to fast travel back to the ship after visiting somewhere else.
Added to that, the few things I have done on other planets have just been abandoned bases or caves with not much in them, so there's not been too much pull to explore beyond picking up a quest and jetting off to various destinations thus far. Maybe I have just ben unlucky with where i have opted to explore, but it's not tempting me back to go off the beaten path like their other games have.

Lessening that feels like giving up on one of their only real advantages. Yeah, it severely lacks that factor. I wandered off on a planet once and went in a few caves/checked out a few gravity anomalies (they're always gravity anomalies!) and then just decided it's not worth doing again. Against my better judgement I landed on earth to explore for a while last night for the lols, but just gave up after less than 5 minutes. I'm having fun with it, but that's definitely an EG review that I can side with.

I've felt it's surprisingly similar to No Man's Sky except they took all the flying out but added a point to it all. I'd rather play this than that, but it feels somewhat *wrong* that all the flying and space stuff is so superficial.

You can fly. It will just take a really long time(7 hours in some cases as some streamers found)

Well yes, you *can* fly, however the obvious expectation is that you *don't* fly else they'd have had some kind of super speed boost engine you can use.
It's a missed opportunity to me, flying within star systems would have been the perfect opportunity to have more random encounters, things to find in space, and make it feel less like fast travel: the game.
I think part of the problem is it's still a very Bethesda game with very Bethesda quests that are just "talk to this person" "now this one" "now this one" and if they required full flight more then it would get very aggravating.

Also, there's no reason to fly. Nothing happens to you in deep space, and the planets are all jpegs (Alana Pearce literally flies through the image and it all just disappears) so when you fly to them you can't do anything but open the map and go through the button prompts to fast travel. Which essentially means you *can't* fly anywhere.
Space instances are fishbowls. Planet landing zones are fishbowls. Nothing connects.

Agree with the EG review completely, just made my peace with it not being the typical open world map. The space setting and the scale they wanted to go for made it impossible to do it the traditional open map way.
I do think they could have had a handful of highly curated systems or planets with hand crafted maps and then let the rest be the of the less explored systems be procedural stuff.
Also could have done more to create the impression of immersion instead of fade to black loading screens when travelling in space. Ie landing/take off and jumping in first person
Probably a generous 8 from me as I do like it. Want to take a point or two off out of spite for wanting to say come on Bethesda this could have been better, feels like you haven’t tried that hard here.

I don't know jack about the game, but I feel like it couldn't have been that hard to at least disguise the loading screens, say, Destiny style.
You select your fast travel destination, the game pulls up an image of the planet on your cockpit that gets closer as it loads, fade out/in as you land, or something. Or maybe, for hyperspace travel, the typical "hyperspace jump" graphic used in every space show/movie ever, with the lights rushing past you all around, and you come out on the other side and see the planet as the loading's almost done...
