The interface is woeful- it’s a game about looting, filling and selling from your inventory and it’s so clunky to move through, sort or compare within the thing. You need this: www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/773you do, if on pc. i posted a before & after on page 79

Ha. I discovered you can store as much as you like in the cargo hold of your ship, regardless of the limit.
After I upgraded the ship, the UI displayed a message telling me that all items had been automatically moved to the hold. Sure enough, there they are:
The only disadvantage is that I can no longer store any more ship parts onboard, and once I've used up the ones I've got, that'll be it. Time to start building storage at outposts I think.
EDIT:
Holy shit. I made a certain decision, and all the companions are practically spitting at me in disgust as a result.

This also happened to me when I got the named ship everyone keeps mentioning from an early side quest. It had something like 950/450 cargo. I guess in theory you could build a huge ship that’s all cargo, fill it up, and then switch to a zippy scout ship or heavily armed fighter with tiny cargo, and still have all your stuff.

There should be an option to turn off snarky companion comments!
“Why do you keep picking up so much useless sh*t?”
“FFS you’ve told me this 20 times, I know it’s a problem, I’m saving up for the goddam therapy so shutupayaface!”

I've just started that and it's pretty good so far. Bullshitting my way through a job interview was quite entertaining. Although it seems to have bugged out when I went to deliver the coffee to the board and I can only talk to two of them. My companion had come down with a case of invisible head at that point, so thought I'd just save the game and hope a fresh load fixes both bugs tomorrow... It properly has its hooks into me now, anyway. Pretty much no-lifed it all day. I had that bug too but was able to initiate chat if I got the reticule just right, it kept highlighting the chair.

I continue to think "this isn't great" and also continue to sink 2 hours at a time into it. Definitely has that "just a little bit more" feel to it.

It’s frustrating as it’s moreish and cosy, relaxing to play to a degree like their games are at their best.
But at the same time there is nothing really next gen about it at all. It might have been a goty 10 years ago.
It’s just the same old Bethesda rpg set in space with creaking tech with some of the magic marred by a lot of procedurally generated stuff broken up by a load screens every 2 mins.
Could have been so much better for a flagship console seller 25 years in the making. Annoying as it could be amazing, but their other games did it better in most aspects.
Having said that it’s still good and am enjoying it for what it is.

Mostly focused on the main quest, wrapped it up earlier and jumped straight into NG+
Now looking forward to a nice spoiler free, leisurely total rinsing of the entire galaxy.

Zipping straight through the main story quests in a Bethesda game is so different from how I normally play them I’m uncomfortable even thinking about it. But I’ve heard just enough about the NG+ being different in this one to be a little intrigued.

How many hours in before people started tinkering with their ship or bought a new one?
I'm only 6 hours in, but having found some contraband I'm already liking the idea of zipping across space as a smuggler in a decked out ship.

Apparently it changes a lot, to the point where it's almost a different game.

I haven't praised the Zero-G sections at all yet, and fair play, they are really well implemented. Love how the recoil of your weapons will send you floating backward.

Yeah I had a fucking amazing bit of luck with that. Was in a spacer ship with a long main corridor, I saw about 6 people ahead of me when I got shot in the back. I turned around and blasted the guy with a breach shotgun and the recoil sent me flying up the main corridor past all these guys so I just started blasting. Was pure John Woo in space, only way it could have been better is If I had popped some of the slomo drug and had Harvest Moon by Neil Young playing

Completely agree, its not this next gen RPG. 100/10 some of the games media hyped it up as but still playing as I know its going to be Bethesda rpg. Shame they didn't get the writers of Fallout new vegas to write the dialogue and the player choices as New vegas was more shades of grey rather than good or evil bar steward
I think having it on gamepass helps
edit, also that UI mod looks so much better than the studio naff UI, can't they hire better UI designers?

They don't need UI designers, they need to hire some people who actually play games.

I'd suggest starting with some small mods to increase cargo capacity and add better shields. Shrouded cargo might be best to get by stealing a pirate ship.

Few observations: - I like watching the sun move across planets - I landed on a frozen moon, and loved the contrast of the white surface against space, and the huge gas giant orbiting above me - Missile launcher on your ship makes all the difference. I'd upgraded my 'laser' weapon but it's so slow to fire.

Can you install StarUI on PC Game Pass? Or mods Steam only?

I think I’ve landed my first bugged mission. “Ground pound”, can’t seem to progress because it wants me to kill all spacers, but they’re already dead, Dave.

Tried restarting the game fully? (some bugs I've found persist through reloads until you do this) Or fast travel somewhere else/sleep for a couple of days and then come back to it.
Or just shoot them all again.
