The Terrormorph side quest actually feels more like the main story to me than the actual main story right now.

It has taken me a very, very long time to realise that you can remove the stolen tag from items by using buyback at Trade Authority. Now I don't have to worry about my katana being confiscated if I get pinched.

Nice to know. I had found a message about that place the day before, so went there last night. Took a lot longer to clear than I thought, but hey, frontier has been binned for the Razorleaf, even though I had bumped up the lasors, shield and engines of the first one. It even has a shielded hold. Nice. Once i landed, it even transfered all my peeps and resources from the old ship, which was a nice touch as I was a bit annoyed at having to schlep back and get all the shit from the old one. Yeah that was real handy as I was thinking the same thing with having to go back to the planet where my old ship was to grab all my stuff. Well, my rage quit of losing all my spare weapons lasted.... a couple of hours as I went back over lunch, and noticed with the Razorleaf and nice new touch being some pirates who start a fight... have second thoughts when they spot it's the Razorleaf and high tail it out with 'I don't want to die!' comms... guess it's like the Mantis's Batmobile!!

Re spoiler. Really? poop. I missed that- I didn't engage in the dialogue as I just wanted to get finished for the night as it was well past midnight and jumped away to the lodge instead.

How do you dock at the Deimos Staryard just off Mars? I'm in space near it, but can't see anywhere to land, or any prompt to auto-land, or anything obvious on the star map.

Just randomly happens whenever you are out and about flying and some pirates have a go, nothing you missed so no worries!

Use the scanner and press 'E'/controller equivalent: you can hail or dock if you're close enough.

How do you do that? I have the objective marker for my side mission showing on the staryard, is that what you mean?

Actually stole a ship doing this the other night- plinked away and (unwittingly) disabled the engines, then saw a “dock” prompt, killed everyone on board and landed it to find it was now mine. Damn thing has theee floors connected by a central ladder and I keep plummeting back down the thing.

Another thing I'd like them to patch in (after allowing you to decorate interiors) is the ability to change the colour of clothes. Maybe not all clothes, if that's too hard, but it'd be good if some spacesuits had, say, a primary and secondary colour that you could change. Basically I'm turning it into Animal Crossing. Full dynamic recoloring is probably not going to happen with a mod, because the shaders have to be set up to support passing in an external color picked by the player, and it also needs preparation for it in the texture maps. I mean, maybe it's already set up for that, but I doubt it.
But a mod could certainly just add a few differently colored variants of popular apparel.

Could you set it up with a whole new set of clothes? Like, if some DLC had a new spacesuit that you could change the colour of, would that be possible or is it something that would need to be baked into everything in advance? I'm just curious as to how these things work!

britesparc Well, usually you have a texture that has some kind of marker colors that are then checked in the fragment shader to determine which of the additionally passed in player selectable colors should be applied to the fragment. Most games use one channel of a special texture for that, e.g. No Man's Sky seems to use the blue channel of a special "mask map" texture. In theory you could also simply use some dedicated colors in the diffuse map for this, e.g. FF0000, 00FF00, 0000FF, and then just make sure in your art pipeline that they are never used as regular colors. But really the thing that determines whether or not the game can do it is the fragment shader code. If there is no logic to accept player passed colors and check a texture against a value to determine whether to apply said player passed color, no amount of asset preparation will help you. As far as I know, changing shader code is not something that can generally be done through a high level modding pipeline. It probably requires a patched executable or similar low level modifications.
[Edit] Ah sorry, I haven't read your question correctly. Yes for the developer of the game, it would be no problem to ship that capability at a later time.

I thought ships blowing up/allowing you to board was random then realised they have a perk to target certain areas.
Just went and wiped out about 15 spacers. Ship was crap so ended up blowing it up before I flew off.

Discovered a neat little exploit.
Boarded a ship to speak with someone, saved before the conversation in case it went wrong. Persuasion attempt failed and they turned hostile. After they were killed, the stolen item tag disappeared off everything in the ship, including the stuff in the captain's locker.
Reloaded to try the conversation again, passed the persuasion attempt this time, but the stolen item tag was still missing off everything, so I robbed them blind without consequence.

Finding this a bit dull so far. I've picked up a fair few quests that I'm working through on new atlantis at least. In terms of finding more quests, how do you come across that kind of stuff organically? Do quests lead to other cities etc?

Some will take you to other places. The main quest line obviously does (it’s been said but I’d recommend playing that to Into The Unknown, or even a couple past that if you want the actual hook). The faction quest lines seem to be regarded as the best the game has to offer. Do those will take you to new places, intro all the main people and quest types, and then you can go as wide as you like.

Future Earth not got a lot going for it then. Could have at least built a space biome theme park on it? With a rocket ship rollercoaster obvs!

I'm quite enjoying this but there I'm not feeling the pull to explore so much. A quick Google tells me the main quest is pleasingly short (relatively..) so I'll keep going.
The inventory management is a complete pain however so I'm ignoring the resource gathering/ upgrade stuff entirely, hopefully that won't hold me back too much.

The interface is woeful- it’s a game about looting, filling and selling from your inventory and it’s so clunky to move through, sort or compare within the thing.

Without spoilers, the Ryujin Industries arc has been hugely entertaining for me so far.

I've just started that and it's pretty good so far. Bullshitting my way through a job interview was quite entertaining. Although it seems to have bugged out when I went to deliver the coffee to the board and I can only talk to two of them. My companion had come down with a case of invisible head at that point, so thought I'd just save the game and hope a fresh load fixes both bugs tomorrow... It properly has its hooks into me now, anyway. Pretty much no-lifed it all day.
