PSA - don’t bother with any of the top tier research perks (experimental, xenotechnology etc) until you’ve maxed out the lower level ones. They’re effectively a fifth level, and won’t show up until you’ve unlocked everything else. So it’ll be a (temporarily) wasted skill point if you haven’t.

Completely unplayable on my living room SFF PC. Whacked the settings right down to 1080p, low, etc. Game stutters anywhere between every 30 seconds and 5 minutes. 6600K, 2080, 16GB RAM, M2, so all at recommended requirements (aside from CPU which is actually below minimum lol). Time to bring down the tower PC... I was actually enjoying that for 10 mins there -_- Get sunshine and moonlight and stream. |

If you have a wired lan, use Sunshine / Moonlight to stream the game between the two. It works beautifully. I'm playing on my living room TV from my tower PC in the office at the end of the garden. I did end up just bringing my tower PC into living room. AMD 3700X, 3080, 32GB RAM... runs very smootly. 40+ FPS at 4K, no stuttering. I highly suspect my aging CPU was to blame with other PC. Might tweak settings a bit to get closer to constant 60FPS.
Actually quite enjoyed my time with it tonight. Achieved very little in 2 hours. But the guns feel quite good and the voice work is surprisingly good. Much improved on Skyrim. The amount of load screens is an absolute joke though. And quite confusing to navigate, at least initially.
I like the quick item select radial wheel though. And the skill trees are nice and intuitive. Inventory is not great. Particularly infuriating when you are looting that guns are given the same UI emphasis as say a Biro. So stupid.

Parsec is also pretty good (https://parsec.app/).
*BUT* it requires you to create an account with them for authentication. It *does* have 2FA, mind. With moonlight/sunshine you can just totally self host it and not involve anybody else.
Parsec is a bit more polished, and has some nice features like custom mapping for controllers and I think it adjusts bitrates dynamically while you're using it. Moonlight just whinges at you and starts stuttering if what you selected was too high and you have to close the connection to reset.

Also, in a bit of a facepalm moment, I know I walked past a fair few of these doors in various bases before it occurred to me to actually follow the instruction written on them and use the laser cutter on the pins.

Sarah is an opinionated bitch. I like to go on looting sessions and she doesn't half fuckin whinge about it. Spoke to the woman in 'The Viewport' who wanted me to do a little side hustle for her special juice and up pops Kar....Sarah telling me not to do it. Might go get Vasco back. I was collecting guns up fully expecting to be able to break them down. I can't and I can't find a perk/skill that allows it. Is dismantling not a thing in space? I had to dump them all because my fat wheezing ass was practically dieing of CO2 poisoning. Also, the first mission with the pirate Captain on Kreet I managed to persuade Hume that I have no loot in my caegohold and to basically fuck off and leave us alone. I've since heard Carl Weathers (Barret) has been fucked over back on Ventara. Does this still happen if I'd killed the captain? |

Spent 2 days re-downloading this from the xbox game pass app on PC only for it to not launch. It crashes every time I try to launch the fucking thing. Spent about 2 hours on google trouble shooting every suggestion outside of doing a fresh Windows install and reinstalling the game due to the shit internet I have. So salty. It worked fine on steam so not sure what the issue is.

I had a classic Fallout moment last night very early on in the game. This story has probably been repeated umpteen times.
I landed on Kreet, looking for the pirate captain. Finding a radio station, a level 10 alien ganked me and followed me for aaages across the map. I swear it is a giant radscorpion in another skin. I found a station that I thought must be where the captain is. Hooray! The gang of level 8 spacers have a go at the angry terramorph and I hope over to the other side of the station. So many spacers! and turrets! I quickly run out of ammo and get pulverised by the turrets.
I've since deduced that I've landed at the wrong location because I have gone off on a couple of directions and only found trouble. Back to the map tonight!

When you land at the right place, you'll find out more about that. I might have to go back to kreet and explore more then, since I didn't meet it! Currently tooling about a disused eclipse base on the moon, not sure if it's mission related as apart from so bad guys, I'm just finding loot without much to do, unless it's just a side location to explore/loot. Anyhoo, got some good stuff & fully up on digipicks now, so that's good. Trying to up my thieving skills a bit. Put a point into persuade and pistols, need to find the perk for carrying increased load yet. And one for hacking which will also no doubt be useful. Also thanks Blue_Mike for the note about cuttable hatches. I will keep an eye out for them and think I have passed some before, but will duly pay more attention next time thanks to you! |

Uninstalled it, just can't be bothered. I'll give it a couple of years and buy it cheap on steam when the modders have fixed it.
In other news, although it's a very different game, if you want some decent space action you could do a lot worse than Everspace 2 (also available on GamePass).

Can you blow peoples heads off like in Fallout? No. Neither can you turn taps on and off. In fact there are lots of little things like that missing. My biggest gripe by far though is that although you can loot in scanning mode, you can't open doors, containers etc. or harvest some resources. |

You can reduce the res and bit-rate quite a lot ofc, but it starts to look ropey pretty quickly.
Parsec works better on wifi/slower connections. But isn't open source etc.

I found terminals where you can pick up random side stuff. It had about 5 or so find planet with traits or find something else and they pay a lot of credits. Feel like they're gonna sit in my question for a while.
