About £20 I believe. And the expansion from what I could work out is likely more a dlc mission set rather than a full blown expansion (so maybe £9-£14 price range likely) so you are probably paying about £2 a day as part of the premium price to start early access.
Shame you can’t premium access the GP version to start early but guess that would be extra cheeky.

I don’t usually do this but I’ve been watching some let’s plays from the beginning to the game. It seems a shame a lot of the space faring and travel is broken up by loading screens and menus. Not expecting seamless interplanetary or amospheric travel but they could have upped the immersion by having loading cut scene animations not break the first person perspective in your cockpit. Ie when you take off from a planet or warp to a new destination. The loading animation could just then be a warp corridor or going up through the atmosphere from the perspective of the cockpit. Or if you access the nav computer from the cockpit instead of just pressing tab. I’m very tempted to just pull the trigger and get it. Yeah, it's doubly odd as Destiny was doing this almost a decade ago. That was janky in its own way but it did set the scene, preview the target environment theme, and give you a chance to admire your ship. Seems a shame to miss the opportunity with a loading screen.

Usual places having a meltdown about the reviews. We live in an barmy age where a game with this weight of expectation upon it is considered to have disappointed with anything less than something silly like a 95 metacritic. It's still reviewing very, very well all things considered. Bonkers really. Fanboys have got worse in the last couple of year
I bet that xbox cultist on EG (the one that banned about 40 times) is having shit fits on any score that is not 95%

I don’t expect a short one hour mission like say, in a Mass Effect.

I've played most of today and this is probably my only issue, but it's pretty significant. The same is true in the first city. Feels like they started making it eight years ago in a cave and never left. There is loads and loads I love from what I've done so far, but the amount of loading and fast travel is pretty pathetic.

I mean it's out generally in less than 7 days I think I can wait that long. It's not going anywhere.

What if you die before then
You'll have regrets. If only I'd bought the deluxe version I could leave this world satisfied

If I was buying it rather than playing via GP hate to say it but I’d go Digital Premium via CD Keys (as I own a Series S so physical not an option).
If I had an X and GP not an option I’d purchase Standard edition physical.
Thats my angle on the dangle anyway.

It is certainly immersion breaking, but it is at least incredibly fast.
My quest log has filled up nicely since reaching the city. Already doing my usual Bethesda thing of keeping the main quest NPC's hanging for hours/days/weeks/months whilst I get totally sidetracked.

The more I‘ve seen of it today (YouTube) the more puzzling/disappointing/frustrating it seems. It goes against the whole “go anywhere/do anything” exploration angle a bit, when the planets are relatively small/barren and everything is separated by loading, and that other games have done the same things better already is a shame. It stops it feeling quite as expansive as they’ve been talking about for a long time. I don’t expect a fully seamless universe, but within a system I wouldn’t have expected the amount of loading that they use. Hyper-jumps between systems are fair game, I think, to be scenes hiding loads. But then it’s just engine limitations. In the next decade I suspect someone will do a similar thing in a more complete feeling experience.

It's frustrating because if you took the best parts of No Man's Sky and this, you'd have the game that's in everybody's head.

Isn't Star Citizen the game that's in everyone's head?
At least they finished this.

For that you *do* get the early access on the GP version - it wouldn't be much of a cynical cash-grab if they couldn't cynically grab cash from as many people as possible. The "expansion" should be meaty. There was this same "Premium Upgrade" for Forza Horizon 5, and for the same price it came with both of the full expansions. So MS have reasonable form here.

I'm too out of touch so no idea.
On a positive, the doors and skyboxes are great.

Might just skip it and wait for Star Citizen. It will blow this out of the water and with the early access version, I could be playing it in early 2068

Yeah, that’ll be out any day now.
Just pay £135 to buy a ship and beta test it

It's less than £18 for the upgrade if you fancy hopping on a quick flight to Iceland.

Is that just a simple change your location and buy as normal option or do you have to have a new valid Icelandic payment method?
If it still works and simple given the dlc included seems worth it to me…

I guess it's better then Cyberpunk style broken HDR but it's a disappointing omission. I keep thinking how good this could look.

Hang on... The Series X version has HDR, right?

I don't think so, I imagine it's an engine limitation but would be interested to get it confirmed.

There are almost no display options and no HDR set up to begin.

Urgh I wanna play this now but as I'm a game pass user I have wait. I know nothing about this outside of a couple of trailers and ACG review. Expecting fo4 in space which sounds great to me.

There are almost no display options and no HDR set up to begin. Yeah I read there's barely any accessibility options. They really are stuck in the past.

There are almost no display options and no HDR set up to begin. No "HDR setup" or HDR full stop? I'm trying to avoid spoilers (I trust the good people here) but after a very brief Google search there's talk of HDR config options on Series X (or lack thereof). I'd be shocked if it was missing, given even Oblivion has it via "Auto HDR" on back-compat.

Default brightness/contrast/gamma is way too high, eveything looks washed out.
Used the the nvida overlay thing to tone it down and it looks much better.

If it's just stretching the SDR colour space over the HDR space it's not HDR.
I actually tried that jus out of interest and it looks washed out and worse.
