Colonization of Mars in 2050? Sure, dudes. I think it's realistic that the people of Earth want to send Elon on a one-way trip to Mars before 2050.

According to 80s films, we’re already in a cyberpunk, post apocalyptic future, and have been for about 10 years now.
Suspend your disbelief for a bit, fellas. It’s sci-fi.

The artifact turns out to be Baldur's Gate 3 and it's going to change the entire universe forever

The artifact could be a computer running Starfield. Yes, this means that lore blurb was actually a cleverly disguised announcement for the delay of the game's release.

I hadn't picked up on this before, so probably common knowledge, but Bethesda has gone back to having a mute protagonist. That's excellent news. It was one of the changes from the classic formula that put me off FO4.
I know it's not an Elder Scrolls game but I'm also kind of hoping it'll start by fading from black on a prison ship.

I hope the space police will shout "argh" repeatedly as they chase you for stealing a space pear.

Colonization of Mars in 2050? Sure, dudes. That and humans developing something that can transport people at almost the speed of light in the next 100 years to visit Alpha Centauri, also seems strangely prompt. Perhaps I'm reading to deep into a made up back story to a videogame, if it's only the back-story that makes me suspend belief and not legendary levels of Bethesda jank, I'll be happy! You probably are but that'shalf the fun. The timeline isn't beyond the realms of possibility though when you consider in 1923 the air speed record was 266 mph and is currently 4520. A similar leap in the tech required for space travel and you're away.

It’s ridiculous to think we can colonise Mars. There’s no one there to massacre.

It’s ridiculous to think we can colonise Mars. There’s no one there to massacre for oil. fixed it for you x Jokes aside, I'm super excited for this and it's out so fucking soon. Depending on unlock time I'm considering taking starfield day off...

My internal drive on my series X is constantly full now that most games release with a Series X version and won't run from external storage. I do have an external USB3 SSD that's good for quicker loading on non-native SX software and quicker file transfers from the internal but when just Flight Simulator and Forza 5 alone weigh in at over 300gigs I'm feeling increasingly railroaded into their overpriced expansion cards.

The devs named this as one of their influences, and I have never heard of it before. Morbid curiosity might compel me to watch the whole thing though:

It’s ridiculous to think we can colonise Mars. There’s no one there to massacre. That's why we need to colonise Mars, get the first lot set up, they declare independence, then we can go massacre them.

Anybody got the preload to work? Checked this morning on PC gamepass and it didn't appear to have started yet. Guessing we have to wake for the US West Coast to wake up and flip the switch.

I love how eager we all are, when the game isn't out for another two weeks for early access (or almost three for GP freeloaders like me)
I've already checked my PC and Xbox this morning.

Haha yeah well the idea of not being able to play it the second it's unlocked is unthinkable. The stars have aligned and I have a short window during the early access period when my girlfriend is away for a few days and I can binge this.
I'm definitely overexcited, though we only have 35mbps download speed. So as not to nuke the speeds for working from home I tend to only download overnight so it's helpful to start early.
Of course even with that consideration it should get done in three nights tops, but no harm being prepared!
I'm just hoping the inevitable day 1 patch can happily download in the background.

So come on... Who here's legitimising the selling of early access and future DLC?

Alternatively you could claim a work trip is coming up, book a nearby motel room, play game for 3 days.

So come on... Who here's legitimising the selling of early access and future DLC? If it’s called “early access” and not “Day One Full-Priced Unfinished Slurry” then this is probably an improvement, if only in expectations.

I'm scrambling for a new PC in time. My old i5-6600/GTX1070 is going to struggle with this.
Looking at 7700x/4070ti as a complete new build. Current PC is now 7 years old, so probably time to got of the potty and decide to buy a new one.

I really cannot decide whether to play Baldurs Gate 3 (PS5) or Starfield (Series X) first? BG3 releases first, but I know Starfield is more accessible. Decisions decisions.
This year is so crazy for great releases.

Obviously I need to normalise this behaviour by always carrying a full gaming desktop PC setup to the office.

I’m guessing maybe better if you play Starfield first, because, traditionally, playing a Bethesda rpg after playing a real rpg brings sad feels.

Nah. Of course, you'll be limited to 1080p medium settings, but with that, it should be fine.
