My old i5-6600/GTX1070 is going to struggle with this.
Nah. Of course, you'll be limited to 1080p medium settings, but with that, it should be fine.
I have an old 1080p ultrawide display so shifting more like 1440p worth of pixels. It is starting to creak and I'm getting that familiar waft of burning wallet again. 7yrs with no updates isn't a bad innings. |

Yeah, sure, if you can afford it, why not, but personally I'm in a similar situation, and I will probably try to sit it out a while longer. I don't have an ultrawide display, though.
But yeah, I'm also several years behind the curve and probably won't play Starfield any time soon anyway, so...

I'm just kind of hoping it's not weirdly CPU limited or anything. I've got a 5600x and a 3080 so I'm hoping for at least 1440p60 with high settings.
Will mostly be playing on my 55" TV via local steaming and I find from the sofa distance I honestly can't see much of a difference between 1440 and UHD anyway. Will drop the res more if I have to.
I find 30Hz so jarring these days, the news that the Xbox version is capped killed any thought I'd buying the console stone dead.

I'm just going to what I always do; Load it up once, see if that causes it to appear in the apparently quite hit and miss* list of installed games in the NVIDIA GeForce Experience dashboard, then if it is let that tailor the optimal settings for my system, and if I don't like something it's done I'll tweak individual settings myself.
* Only about one third of my currently installed games are listed, RDR2 is there twice and VLC is there for some probably hardware-accelerated reason?

All these helpful suggestions to tinker with the settings are not helping me justify a new PC build. 🙃
I'm also a big MSFS user and find the instruments at 1080p to be a little indistinct (fast jet MFDs)....
I'm reaching a bit aren't I?

I've realised that I don't really give a shit about high refresh rates, so near max is usually pretty achievable. I’ll be playing on Xbox, but yeah, this is my move when playing PC games. Shoot too high, then cutback on the heavier options. I find GFE inconsistent. One day it’ll show fairly maxed out settings as ideal, the next it’ll drop them to a mix of low and medium. Might as well set them myself. |

So I've been looking over the backgrounds and traits they've showed off so far, and pretty much decided that on my first playthrough, I want to go with the Cyber Runner background, with the Neon Street Rat and Raised Enlightened traits, but not sure what to choose for the third.
I keep going back and forth between wanting either Explorer or Diplomat.

Eying up a Standard edition digital (code) copy from CD Keys @ 20% discount as I’ve got an S so digi only it is (don’t believe in Gamepass - it’s blockbuster games innit bruv!)
Has anyone gone this route for any other digi only Xbox releases and is it trouble free?

Yeah you're safe with CDKeys, ordered plenty of Xbox codes from them. Looks as though they have the codes in stock already as well, so if you order now you'll get it straight away rather than having to wait until or near the release date. Can get it pre-loaded straight away.

Which version are people going with? Standard or premium? Went for the Premium add-on (already have Gamepass) from the Iceland Xbox Store. Game share with my brother so only cost about £8'ish each. Not typically even my sort of game to be honest. I'll no doubt do my usual with giant open world RPG's, which is plough 15 hours into it and drop it like a stone. Fear of missing out in full effect. Although with Gamepass I've spent basically bugger all on it at least. |

Digital Premium, Steam version. I actually would have liked the steelbook, it is rather nice looking. Will keep an eye out for one on ebay post-release, I think.

I've been exclusively looking forward to this game for years, so it's going to be a very difficult 5 days to stay away from spoilers - from both friends and media - but there's no way I'm letting Microsoft monetise my FOMO, and there's no way I'm paying years in advance for some unquantified DLC. I completely disagree with both of these practices on principal, particularly the selling of early access. |

For those wondering about DLSS support, Puredark has said he will provide a mod for that and should be strightforward (90% of the code is done based on previous work with DX12 games and just needs some additional hooks). There were false rumours saying he had received a copy of the game from Bethesda which would have a been quite a nice way for them to circumnavigate their agreement with AMD. I think Bethesda always knew modders would inject DLSS into the game anyhow.

I hope this isn't the final UI. The font-geek in me really hates the leading in the descriptors below those icons. Looks really tight and at odds with the leading in the overview. It just doesn't looked as polished as others I have seen.
