Mass Effect Andromeda did that quite well. I'd still have preferred maybe double the areas with no content, like in Dragon Age Inquisition. fixed |

I simply ignored all those. They even had their own section in the quest log so you knew what to ignore. |

Not much of a surprise, space be like that.
I mean, from the reveal video, it pretty much confirmed you won't be NMS-style drop into atmosphere anywhere you wanted, rather being able to select certain pre-determined areas (no doubt fashioned from a radiant system) on certain planets, and yeah, possibly they'll be a bit prettier than Elite dustballs ?

Plus if you can’t design your spaceship to look like a massive co*k’n’b*lls then that’s a key authenticity fail surely?

That's great, but I hate the fact that some games give you text sizing options, but only for the subtitles - the UI text remains the size of the fine print on a timeshare contract.
Hoping this isn't the same!

My bigger issue with it is it's yet another unnecessary heaping of anti-consumer shit on a game that's already been plagued with exclusivity drama. Just seems so out of touch.
But yeah, as ever with Bethesda... Modders to the rescue.

You can understand smaller publishers doing it for an extra cash hit, but it just seems like poor form coming from MS. They already have a pretty shit history with PC ports that they were doing a decent enough job of putting behind them.

I've never really understood why games exclusively partner with graphics card manufacturers. (I mean, it'll be money).
It seems dumb when consumers on the platform have cards by various manufacturers and are going to be playing your game on all of them.
It's like Toyota releasing a new car and exclusively partnering with Shell petrol.

Unless its behind a paywall. Modders are starting to make modding a business and charge for their efforts (can't blame them). So, if you are on PC, factor in that when purchasing (I will be).
*Edit actually with a 4090+5800x3D it better run 60fps @ 4k without the need for upscaling. But, well, Bethesda.

Really hoping that this does indeed have good performance in the Xbox S (as suggested by Bethesda) as there’s no way I’m getting the X until there is at least 10+ exclusive games that truly benefit from it… I can easily live with the lower res and longer load times etc so long as in game performance is smooth… and I still think the X Brick is the ugliest console of all time!
Now just need to decide whether to drop the £70 to digi own it (as a general rule never paid for than £50 for a physical PS5 copy of any game yet) which irks but then ES, Fallout and Skyrim have been some of my favourite games ever or for the first time go game pass and “rent it”. Or wait for first 6 month likely launch bugs and play other great games until it works properly then jump in a year later when it’s £50 or less to buy digi. I’m old so I’ll probably go option C (big backlog will thank me for it!). Unless or course it’s Stellar (no pun intended).

it's not the DLSS that I'm bothered about so much it's the DLAA. I should hopefully be able to run it quite nicely so getting the tensor cores to do the AA is perfect. |

Huh, all this time I thought it was multiplatform and not MS exclusive. I think it was announced that way and MS promised to honor it coming out, but anything after that was fair game in terms of exclusivity.

I’m aware many people don’t like the PS5 console design either but I personally like it…
My comment on the X being ugly is also just my opinion, I’m sure plenty of people like it. If I ever did get one I would hope I could get it in colour other than black. That would at least help a bit. If they did a Starfield X it may have even turned my head a bit if the game was inc for free or less than retail but looking like that is USA only?

Series S looks more like the Wii. Series X is two Gamecube’s duct taped together.
One X was beautiful though. That’s my favorite design since the Saturn.
