Insomniac games are only 4k60 in performance mode with no RT. But again this is all apple and oranges to compare game X with game Y in what it does, what it items and states it tracks in all of the game worlds in the game.

I don't think it's too much to expect that a AAA exclusive has a 60fps mode. Most games do.
The reason they can't do it is because it's Bethesda and they make just about the jankiest games going!
In all likelihood it's not a deal-breaker as it's a Bethesda game in space, which is awesome. But them saying they're targeting 30 fps is like [GENERIC SHIT FOOTBALL PLAYER] saying he's targeting 20 goals a season.

Well yeah this engine, all through all of its iterations has ALWAYS been CPU limited and no doubt I would imagine again physics are tied to the frame rate, so I'd be intrigued if it goes over 60fps on pc without breaking. We'll have to wait and see. I think it will be successful because it's a single player Bethesda game and I know it's not an excuse but the mod community has always been the best thing about their games which is terrible as a developer but the imagination the games inspire is pretty cool.

I'd give more of a shit about the graphics and framerate if I wasn't still rocking a 42" 720P plasma TV and a Series S - it'll all be wasted on me anyway.
I've never really gelled with Bethesda games but I'll definitely give this one a go. Reminds me of the early Mass Effect hype.

It will be the prettiest 360 game you’ve ever played.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it'll max at 60fps out of the box just they did with fallout. Hopefully they don't tie the loading to the same fucking frame rate like they did in that. FO4 was magnitudes better with the cap released and nearly instant level loading.

Given the general pacing of the game, 30fps is absolutely fine with me. What worries me is that I lasted around 5 hours with Fallout 4 because of how janky it felt, rather than how janky it looked. Bethesda have yet to design a control system that doesn't feel like a basic control set up for testing button inputs, rather than actually playing a game.

I get that too- I suspect VATS was actually a sticking plaster over that- freeze shit and offer preselected points you had no chance of catching on the fly. The video trailer has a couple of classic feeling “first person” shooting cuts that looked convincing though, who knows.

Didn't id software help out a bit with the combat in this though??

If they did, that’s excellent news! Starfield does obviously look a lot smoother than Fallout/Elder Scrolls, but I’ll believe it when I actually get to control it.

Looks great to me BUT not expecting to dive in until 6 months after release due to inevitable bugs!

If it really would run from 40 to 60fps on console, there's no excuse for not providing a VRR mode. I guess it really runs at 25-30, and a VRR mode would prove they're talking out of their arses.

In fairness I don't remember Fallout 4 feeling broken on release, at least on PS4. I'm sure there were plenty but the experience was fine iirc. Bit boring more than buggy.

That's the controller ordered. I am weak. The only reason I'm not ordering the headset is my boss bought me the beoplay portals for my birthday a couple of months back.

The video trailer has a couple of classic feeling “first person” shooting cuts that looked convincing though, who knows. The shooting appeared to be auto-targeting to me, like that gun in Halo, the needler was it? I watched 15-20 minutes of the presentation and it just left me cold, I think it looks terrible. I mean, the game’s appearance is terrible and the game itself appears to be a terrible game, ten thousand hours of bland mush. I may have also just lost heaps of confidence in Bethesda after Fallout 4 and especially Fallout 76.

So you think it looks a tad better than terrible. This is not an endorsement.

It's not like it would take some miracle for this to be true given Bethesda never seem to have had neither the manpower nor any real willingness to properly test their games.

It's something they say for every Elder Scrolls game, so I guess they thought they'd just continue the tradition.

Note how the wording can be interpreted as the number of different bugs, not the number of occurrences

Starfield confirmed to have less bugs than Starship Troopers Given Sony owns everything Starship Troopers, other than the book publishing rights, they probably couldn't put that on the cover.
