There is a Digital Premium Edition as well as the Constellation Edition.
Base game is £59.99, Digital Premium Edition is £85.99. Oh, and in a surprise to nobody, the Xbox versions are more expensive than the PC versions, being £69.99 and £99.99 respectively. www.xbox.com/en-GB/games/starfield
Pre-ordering either version also gets you the Old Mars skin pack:

"I think it'll come as no surprise, given our previous games, what we go for," Howard said. "Always these huge, open worlds, fully dynamic, hyper detail where anything can happen."
Ahh yes, another unoptimised mess then. Unacceptable given it's 'the most powerful console' and this is a massive title. But hey, it's Bethesda.

Predictable for Bethesda, but wank.

Some of the stuff they showed looked phenomenal in theory. If it's any good I will 100% get a Series X to play it but the 30fps news along with the scope of the game gives me serious doubts it will run like anything other than dog shit. Definitely not one I'm going to pre order and commit to buying a new console over, but hope it's good news post-release.

I'd be alright with 30fps if they hadn't seemingly made it a twitch shooter.
If there's a VATS style option, that would massively help.

I think they would have shown any VATS style system in the coverage so far.
I'll give it a try but 99% out, can't go back to flicker mode now. Fallout 76 without FPS Boost engaged is horrendous, this is basically the same engine I think.

It's like car manufacturers going back to solid tyres.

And that’s the thing- someone like Naughty Dog would be able to properly optimise and lock things down- Bethesda with the JankEngine 10.0?

The linear action games Sony specialise in are a very different beast to something like Starfield.

Mind blown. The nature of the game’s irrelevant, I’m talking about the sort of quality optimisation some studios manage and Bethesda have *always* been weak at. I don’t want to play a 30fps game but I’m especially going to avoid one that hovers in the choppy late twenties to early thirties I suspect this will.

Tons of open world games have 60fps modes, it should be standard, but I'm not remotely surprised. This is a potential system seller for me, although my ageing PC could probably hit better framerates than Xbox. If it was locked 30 that would be one thing, but you know it's going to go below that.

It's gonna be another classic Bethesda launch isn't it. Loads of hype but at least one version will be unplayable, and all with have random crashes and amazing glitches until we're a year in.
I'm so desperate for another proper Bethesda single player that I don't think I'll be able to hold out until they've actually fixed it though.
And I'm a fully paid up member of the 'bought Skyrim on PS3 at launch, only to discover after 50hrs that it was so fundamentally and hilariously broken (it had a sort of degenerative disease) that the only option was to start again on a different platform' club.
Can't be as bad as that again surely?

I literally bought the new PlayStation to play Skyrim on: the truth started to dawn after a couple of days of play...
I still love Bethesda's stuff, though. Take what you will from this, but they are probably the developer producing the most "me" content that exists.

Imagine playing this when it was originally supposed to come out. Glad it's had extra time.

I want to believe it won't be another Cyberpunk but this is definitely one where the rule of 'stop preordering out of pure habit' is going to have to come into play. The fact they are already having to admit to concessions before the game is even released and given their track record, it's too concerning to fork out on a new console for.

Besides I think at the time the Creation Engine was more favourable to 360 than anything else. We'll have to wait and see.

The frustrating thing is that you just know someone like Insomniac would have been able to work some magic to come up with a compromise. The scope of Bethesda games is always incredible but they absolutely love phoning it in on the technical side.

This was always going to be 30fps. Most of the built-for-this-gen console games are going to target that. A few might have CPU headroom for a 40 or 60fps mode but I think that'll be less and less the case over time.
It's a console, at the end of the day. PC will be where the real action is, for those games that get ported.
I fully concur with the sentiment above though: I'm willing to accept a locked 30 if I have to, but if it's a wobbly 30 then they can get fucked.

Watching the 45 minute video. This looks like every game ever mashed together. No Man’s Sky, Skyrim, Fallout, Mass Effect, Halo so far. But I can”t look away from how terrible their humans still look. Oh god, they’ve got that voice actor I can’t stand as a companion. Though he’s clearly designed to be intolerable.
Anyway, I’ve seen enough to be glad I don’t have the option of playing it anyway. Will be very interested to see how it’s received at launch.

I’m slightly amazed so many people were expecting this to be 60fps. Not a chance in hell that was ever going to be a thing.

Whilst I'd love this to be day one, recent PC releases have given me pause. Looking forward to it anyhow. Thought the deep dive was well done. Characters do look a little static but I am hoping it will more than make up for that in other areas. The scope looks overwhelming in a good way. Positively hopeful.

I was misled by the fact that every other action / RPG / shooter I currently have loaded, from Fallout 3 to Destiny 2 (and Origins Odyssey Valhalla Cyberpunk Forza BFV Hell Let Loose Elite No Mans Sky, and even Arma Reforger, which they will probably never even finish) are 60fps, so imagined that was now a benchmark. Clearly not.
I hope it's in HD.

There's a bit of re writing history going on regarding 60fps for the sake of this game as well. Every next gen exclusive I've played so far has had a performance mode as an option.

Certainly not, but I also find it very hard to believe it's the impossible task it's being made out to be.

It's doing that openworld blockbuster thing of getting me excited, but in reality I know that once I see the seams of the game, I'll get bored of it :/
I'm in the camp of I wish they would scale back, stick to a size similar to Skyrim or whatever and spend the dev time improving enemy AI, carefully crafting fewer more interesting quests, optimising the performance and fixing the faces. But then you can't really sell a grandiose vision with those.

Also... That video having one of the devs talking about how exciting it is stealthing through vents has got to be trolling.

Certainly not, but I also find it very hard to believe it's the impossible task it's being made out to be. I think the interview says that they were getting between 40-60fps at time but that would be massively inconsistent and so went for 30. I don't think it's an impossible task but if another game comes out at this scale and runs at at a flat 60 then we can discuss that.
