The mentions of Fortnite is giving me room to doubt given that these have been single player games. There is at least Bomb Rush Cyberfunk coming out which can be a spiritual sequel.

Confession: I love JSRF, but hate JSR. The timer ruins the game for me. This is supposed to be all about mucking around and being cool, but you can't do that because the clock is ticking. There's also the looser controls and more difficult tricks (including graffiti spraying), but the timer is the most annoying thing to me.
I hope Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is more like JSRF instead.

I honestly don't remember which one I played. I remember the music though!
I could see JSR(F) and Crazy Taxi inhabiting the same persistent online world, but they're talking about an FPS and other stuff, and I can't really see how you could throw those into the same world without wrecking everything.
Once you have cars, other weird movement, shooting in a persistent open world then you basically have GTA Online / Fortnite, so what's the hook?
That said, the Fortnite model of a persistent but always changing open world *is* something I could see working quite well in a number of games. I'm just not sure the number of players would be enough to maintain it. And it must take a fair amount of work to keep adding new content.

Sweet! The dreamcast is one of my all-time favourite consoles but even I have to admit that a lot of games were "of their time". Still properly hyped for JSR and Crazy Taxi though.

This should be all I ever wanted, and yet... with so many of them apparently being in development at once, I hope they are not just cheap UE5 remakes churned out by mobile studios or something like that. These need the proper care.

So it's a bunch of entirely separate games?
They looked quite good, but it seems a bit unusual to do them all at once. I assume they're all different studios.
PS/ Maybe they're doing a Fortnite / Lego Fortnite / Rocket Racing / Fortnite Festival and effectively going to stick a bunch of separate games in the same UI.

Streets of Rage is going to have to be insane after the incredibly high bar set by 4. I can see why they’ve not opted for another 2D entry.

I'm unconvinced for many reasons, but mainly because it's extremely difficult to capture the magic of the original game with a remake.
People are nostalgic for very specific things, but it also takes a studio to intricately understand what made the original game so good in the first place to create a compelling remake... Even direct sequels made by the same team fail in this respect a lot of the time.
Also "In development" is an empty statement these days.
I hope all these games turn out to be "a Streets of Rage 4" but I doubt it.

So much nostalgia from that trailer reveal.
I wouldn't be totally opposed to an online Crazy Taxi where you vie for cab fare, etc.

Shinobi, Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi looked great.
Not sure about 3D versions of Golden Axe and Streets of Rage but I'm willing to be convinced.
Can't believe we're getting all five - I would've settled for just one! As a huge SEGA fanboy this was the best announcement of the show.
Now where's Skies of Arcadia?!

You can still find Crazy Taxi machines in the wild. Great fun with that Offspring soundtrack.
Take note, SEGA.

I'm glad that they're calling them new games in the franchises rather than straight up remakes. Take what was there, bring it up to date, give it an interesting spin. Crazy Taxi seemingly letting you drive a Crazy Cop Car, for example - that looked fun! Presumably adding a chase-me chase-me component to an already fun conceit.
As said above though, a lot of this rests on which firms they have banging these out and what level of supervision there is. Hope it's not a ridiculous drip feed too. If we've just seen the next five years of their output I'm out. But all of that in the next 18-24 months? Yes please!

If they’d have made a new Sega console with those games as the launch line-up it would have been the best launch selection in decades.

How many times have they tried to do a new version of Golden Axe though? No particular reason to think this version will be any more successful than previous attempts.

Can't even remember if I played Beast Rider. Isn't that the only attempt at a proper 3D title?
I'll be keeping an eye on it, anyway. Always fancied a decent 3D attempt in that world.
/edit Just watched a bit of footage of Beast Rider... I know people say "it looks like a PS2 game" too much, but fucking hell that looks like a PS2 game! (the animation especially)

Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio don't seem to be straying far from the originals, I hope they don't make the same mistake that a lot of the PS2 Sega Ages 2500 made and include original versions alongside their updated/rebooted versions. Having the original versions at least eases the pain somewhat.
Golden Axe just looks ugly and weird, maybe lean away from realism next time and go back to the source for something that looks more like anime and illustrations from the late 80s. I just don't think fur underpants fantasy can work with those character designs rendered and lit realistically.

Golden Axe was good fun as an arcade machine and then the Megadrive version was cool because it was “omg it’s like an arcade at home”, but there wasn’t much there in terms of iconic characters or game elements that makes an update particularly worthwhile.
I suppose you could make a God of War type game out of it, but this looks more like a shitty PS1 era attempt to make a 2D game 3D type thing.

Yeah, I'm a bit skeptical of Golden Axe and SOR but it looks very early days on those. SOR will have some trouble topping SOR4.
Honestly I'm absolutely chuffed at this announcement - I really miss the 'old' SEGA and anything that's even a close proximation to their heyday is welcome by me. It's made my day.

Altered Beast 3D REMAKE or GTFO! I remember the PS2 3d Altered Beast game, I actually quite liked it even though it was very much of its time with how edgy it was.

I remember playing Golden Axe a lot on the arcade machine at the leisure center, after going swimming.
Then completing the entire thing in co-op with the french exchange kid one summer. Very proud.
Not sure it was ever a very good game though.

Hope they keep the intro music. And booting the little shits who steal your potions/magic.

Booting those potion guys was basically the hardest and most important bit of the game. With your very lackluster looking little boot animation.

I don't think I've ever seen one in modern times. I wonder how it should be done like in 3D.
