Everyone says it is massive their first time (oh matron), but you soon get used to it. If you are a Switch owner, that will soon feel like a Fisher Price toy in comparison.

I had considered the 1TB one to get extra hasslefree storage too but if the etched glass hampers this model... Still resisting as realistixally I will have little time to play it.. |

Apparently there's hardly any difference at all between the etched and glossy. I was fine with my etched og one, but went glossy as I don't need the etch or bigger stor oh who am I kidding I went cheap alright??

I've seen a couple of sites say that if you don't like whichever one you went for a screen protector of the opposite type does a good job of 'fixing' it. Went for etched as I plan to use it outside a fair bit.

I just went for 512GB. Can chuck my 1TB drive straight in it and I can always buy a screen protector with anti glare if I feel I need it.

I went for the standard 512GB version. Reflections don't generally bother me, and I can get any extra storage I need via SD cards for now.

The rare days in the summer when I take the deck out the back garden it's annoying.
Tbh most the time mine is hooked up to a desk set up running windows for open uni and age of empires for xbox reward points every night.

I really really liked it. Runs great on Deck, has lots of fun ideas and it's put together with so much energy. For a music-based game it's got a good mix of original tunes and fun licensed needle drops too. Don't spoil yourself on any if possible!

I didn't play it on the Deck, but it is a great game. Appeared out of nowhere and was a great surprise. Solid combat, fun characters and great use of music. If you haven't played it yet then it is must play, be that on the Deck or anywhere else.
I assume it plays fine on the Deck, but it is definitely one that you wouldn't want any slow down with, what with the rhythm-based gameplay.

I think the best way to think about it is to consider the etched screen a small upgrade for people who take it outside a lot. The glossy screen is very good, especially if you're in control of the light around you.

Yeah, I won’t be taking it outside much, maybe on the train to London a few times but otherwise just sofa gaming while the Mrs is watching random stuff on TV.
Time to load up on the steam sale too.

I just picked up Split Second from cdkeys for £2.50, my favourite arcade racer of all time and it plays perfectly. It's locked at 30 fps but it never feels like it.

Shipping is back down to 3-5 days. At this point I’m starting to think to just donate my old deck to a friend. No CEX where I live, and the shops we do have (Gamemania) act as if the Deck doesn’t exist.

I'm pretty sure I'll be buying this in the near future - seems to fix all the issues that put me off buying the OG version last year. Only issue is I can't log into my Steam account and their customer support is not doing much to help at the moment. At least it gives a bit of time for this etched vs. glossy discourse to play out and help me decide (though I'm currently leaning towards being sensible and getting the glossy).

I think I had cryoutilities applied on the old one, which I haven't bothered with yet on this, but surely that can't be the reason.

Apparently it works well if you just drop your old SSD into the new model without bothering to reinstall SteamOS, so that's my new plan. I didn't particularly fancy going through the battle.net, Xbox cloud and PS5 streaming config again (it was mainly the cover art part of it putting me off)

That might just be the screen tech (if the game is 30fps or below), OLED screens have higher response times so won't have the motion blur that all LCD screens inherently have. So lower FPS games will appear more juddery when you pan the camera. |

I'll check what it's hitting (I'll admit I've never got the overlay up to check before) to see if that's it. I tried locking it at 40 and 45 to see if that helped and it improved a little from unlocked/90 but still nowhere what it was.
