Seems relatively stable right now, but it’s still preview and not even beta yet so some things could go weird. You can roll back to stable easily enough though.

github.com/redphx/better-xcloudI did this last night. The image quality is better after tweaking the options available. The image is still softer than playing natively, but so much better than it was when I first tried to use XCloud as it was called then. I am very happy with it now. I've now tried remote play streaming from the Series X through Greenlight, which from my experience gives a better image than Cloud Gaming. Cloud Gaming is more convenient but definitely gives a softer image.

I downloaded the 3.5 update and whilst I am mostly playing 'American Truck Simulator 2' on the Deck (a nice change from Final Fantasy XVI on my PS5) I am noticing that it runs a lot more consistently now, using the same settings as before, I am running closer to a consistent 40fps (I am using that refresh rate on the machine) whereas before it would fluctuate between around 25 - 40 fps.
Steam have done some real dark magic with the Deck, brilliant machine!

I’ve just noticed the Steamdecks are 20% off. Am I safe to get the 64g one and get a decent Sd card or shall I get the next one up?

You can swap out a SSD later on.

You can swap out a SSD later on. Thank you. Would you say do that over a 1tb SD card ?

Yeah, definitely do the SSD upgrade if you're not afraid of taking it apart. Maybe watch a quick guide first just to make sure you're comfortable. There are quite a few SSD options out there now. I went with the 1TB WD SN740 and would definitely recommend it.

I went for the 512 preorder as it seemed faffy to change the SSD so didn't take the risk...

Same, kinda wish I'd done the 64 and put in a 1tb now though.

I made the jump from a 256 to 1tb when I wanted to dual boot it, done it over about 9 months of owning it so there's no rush at all.

Replacement 512gb Deck on its way! That was a quick turnaround, well done Valve.

After already setting up PS remote play , now to sort the Xbox.
Am I better setting up remote play for it or stream game pass ? I’m only ever likely to play it at home .

I find streaming from the console to be a better picture quality.

Had a brief go on Batman Arkham Knight and it looks very nice on the deck!

After reading a couple of posts above regarding remote play I pulled my finger out and set this up... it's amazing! I don't get a lot of PS5 time on the TV so this might mean I finally pick back up on my Elden Ring save from a year ago (or any number of abandoned games on there).
Feel a bit stupid I didn't do this a year ago.
Saying that I'm still wading through Baldur's Gate 3 on Steam Deck and now I've reopened the PS5 pile of shame I realise it really is impossible to work through it all.

The fallout games are currently about 3 quid on steam. I take it they are worth it for that? I’ve never played them

I played a bit of New Vegas on the deck and can still recommend it.
If I remember, the game defaults to a Xbox 360 controller setup, but I went a custom configuration, using the right-trackpad as a mouse and a bit of gyro for fine-tuning. I mapped quick-save and quick-load to the back buttons as well, which is useful for Fallout games that can still randomly crash.
The Fallout games benefit from adding mods for quality of life improvements, but I never put the time into doing that on the deck.

I gave up trying to mod new vegas on the deck. I think I've got a few mods on there but it was a pain and now I wouldn't know how to tweak anything.

Best remote play experience if you have a gaming pc is moonlight, combined with Playnite (launcher that puts all the launchers including game pass, steam, epic, battle.net etc in one nice deck-friendly interface) and Gamestream Launchpad (sets resolution to 1280*800 to fix aspect ratio issues). So good and now my favoured way to play Game Pass stuff as my pc is a lot more powerful than Xbox and the stream is a lot better quality than greenlight or Xcloud.

I'm trying to make some room in my steam deck so I looked at the storage settings. I have 116gb in "other", how the hell do I figure out what that is and clear some of that down?
