Cancelled my 256 order. Hard to justify given how expensive everything is today. I also realised it's about four years' worth of gamepass.
I hope they release a V2 at a similar price but with better specs. Maybe I'll look at it then.

Apparently the beta update channel has a fix for the crappy desktop mode keyboard.

Anyone tried Divinity Original Sin 2 (or similar) on the Deck? Looking for a decent RPG to work through on the go and wondering whether these translate well control wise (and it's currently on sale) I fired it up and it seemed perfectly playable (accepting that the text is a bit squinty). I preferred the game pad controls when I played it on PC, they work really well IMO. Amazing game

Aaaaaah, Burnout 3. How I've missed you. Worth £500 alone.

I can still play that on my 360. A pretty good reason to keep it around, 17 years after it was launched.

How did games look that good on the PS2?? PS2 really was unbelievable for its day. Well, that whole generation was. Games like Zone of the Enders, Ridge Racer V, Outrun 2, Metal Gear Solid 2, Metroid Prime, Dead or Alive Ultimate, F-Zero GX, Resident Evil 4, Final Fantasy XII, Panzer Dragoon Orta.. really hold up after all these years. It's funny when people say games look like a PS2 game, as if that were an insult.

Anyone else find the trackpads a bit useless? Just can’t seem to ever get the sensitivity to a useful level, and clicking them makes you lose the accuracy of the thing you’re trying to click on.

Yeah, clicking is not great, I use R2 for that. That said, I'm playing Pillars of Eternity now and I much prefer the touchpad to moving the cursor with the stick.

I used them quite a bit when playing Secret of Monkey Island and found it to be ok. I did have to change the setting from joystick to mouse emulation, which seemed to be much better. Not sure how much I would want to use them for something like an FPS game, but thought it worked reasonably well as a cursor.

Yes mouse emulation would make more sense really. Not sure why joystick would be the default.

I think they are about to become a lot more useful when the radial menus are released out of beta.

Trombone Champ is the most I've used them outside of desktop mode so far though - they're definitely not the mouse alternative I was hoping they would be in games.

Has anyone found a way to mod games that's relatively pain free? Preferably in deck.
I've seen something about steam tinker launcher but I've not even been able to install it so I'm basically useless.

Depends entirely on the game, if it’s just editing/adding files you can do that from the desktop. If it’s needing a launcher or app to do it you’ll probably have to add it as an app to Steam so it runs through proton and gets the drive access it needs.

Does anyone have a link to a good guide to get emulation set up on the device? I tried setting up emu deck but need to have another go at it due to putting the BIOS (which I legally own all of Mr.online internet police) in the wrong folders (I think). I found this guide quite good. Has a segment on BIOS
Thanks for sharing this!

Thanks for sharing this! github.com/dragoonDorise/EmuDeckThis link tells you which bios files (or firmware) are needed for which emulator. Wish I'd seen that list before I spent ages unzipping and dumping every single file I could find into the bios folder thinking that's what you're supposed to do.

If anyone’s interested in the Deck but didn’t fancy the wait, I put my £4 last week for a 512GB unit and just OKd the payment for the unit. So it looks like the “queue” is more or less gone.

If in the UK, I paid for mine on the Tuesday (I think, may have been Monday evening) and it arrived on the Saturday.

Think I may have actually received my tracking info after it arrived. It was NotHermes though, so pretty much standard for them.
