It was awful, even though I don't have much stuff and no real furniture at all. Definitely not as awful as other posters' experiences sound. Although I do now own a cheap, ugly bed and a mattress. I need to buy a telly, something to sit on, and probably some kind of shelf/bookcase situation.
I'm deeply unhappy with this objectively nice flat I've moved to because I didn't think through all of the implications. And I can't find my headphone case FFS.

Today our offices were closed for a mental health day, so the wife and I had a lovely big brunch out (in peace) and then watched Creed III in the cinema. Wife is now doing the school pickup whilst I start my Lego Horizon Tallneck and listen to music of my choosing.
Poker with friends later and a few beers. Lovely day.

Ah man, I really needed a day like this. Just be totally selfish with what I do and switch off from work completely.
It'll be super busy again at work next week, but having a bonus day is a real luxury.

Bought a big ol' scary angle grinder off marketplace at silly o'clock this morning, family shop, visit to Screwfix, cut up some paving slabs for a parasol base (still have all of my limbs/fingers), then ended up with an impromptu mamouth pressure washing session of the whole of the front drive etc (fuck me my back hurts), couple of rums/ciders and now about to eat a curry. Gonna get the rotavator going tomorrow.

Spent the afternoon at Porfell animal sanctuary. We go a couple of times a year and is a very pleasant way to spend a couple of hours if the weather is nice.

Spent hours trudging around crowded Shinjuku shops in the rain. Was not fun. In the end I went back and bought the first thing from the first store.

Went out for a drink with coworkers for the first time in at least 3 years. It was weird (but nice) to meet people face to face who I had only ever talked to online.
Surprising lack of hangover today considering I'm well out of practice for that sort of thing.

I just remembered playing the original prince of persia, and prince of persia 2 on the pc years ago. Can't be arsed to fire them up, so just watched a youtube run of them both. They were good runs and I enjoyed them, but I still had to find another montage video of all the player deaths.
I think this particular scene, is probably one of the best video game deaths of a character that's ever been devised, especially the sound -

Work this morning until lunch. Then cut the grass while having a beer. Off to pick up my daughter from preschool with a stop at the pub on the walk home.
I love the sun.

Managed to find the source of a leak at work. Semi-isolated to prevent further drips appearing downstairs. Plus fixed a loose cistern in the ladies.
They swooned.

Long walk with the dog this morning. Then death admin, including 2 hours in my mum's house, trying to find all the right documents to notify everyone. Plus the Will, which I saw a few months ago but she seems to have moved as I can't find it anywhere. Came back, made some sad calls (including one to her oldest friend), got thoroughly depressed and maudlin, so mowed the lawn to some tunes which helped a bit. All a bit shit this.

Keep going - it gets easier. Take a lot of time out after you do this kind of stuff to balance things out - it'll help you keep your perspective.

Yeah, intending to spend all day tomorrow on the playstation, after a couple of calls in the morning. Confused by Inheritance Tax mind you...some guidance suggests it's paid out of the estate, some that executors need to pay it before/up front.

They don’t expect you to already have the money to pay it.

That's what I assumed, but conflicting advice as ever. But also needs to be paid within 6 months. Probate is currently taking 16 weeks. So selling a house in 2 months seems ambitious, to say the least. Thanks user askew. Trying to maintain perspective but hard sometimes. Today has definitely been a shit day. On my own all day, in my own head a bit too much.

Thanks mate. She was 84 so trying to maintain some perspective but it's still shit innit.

Yes, it's totally shit mate. But to help keep that perspective going - as you say, she was 84 and it is a normal process. A shit one - absolutely - but normal. I know that's about as helpful as a punch in the face, but basically, don't beat yourself up when you feel really shit about it - that's your brain getting it's head around it, so let it do what it wants and you enjoy the playstation after you've done the shit bits to give your brain a breather so it can process it as best it can.

Mowed the lawn and ditched the clippings into the bin only to find it was filled with snails. Slightly gross but wasn’t too perturbed.
I unwisely told Mrs Shark, who proceeded to start chucking them into next door’s garden. When I saw I yelled at her to stop because if anyone did that to me I’d lose my shit. We argued and she proceeded to do the Joey Deacon face at me.
Now I’m at the pub. She can cook her own fucking dinner.

Yeah definitely. Throwing stuff over the fence is a sure way to cause a lot of unnecessary drama.
If I was your neighbour I'd be annoyed if I caught you

Her argument was that it’s an Air bnb and the garden is a mess. That’s no excuse.

It’s bad enough I was on best behaviour when her parents were round this week. Her mum saw a magazine cover with a black man on it and said “everything is so woke now”.
