I use mine for almost everything non-acidic. Just got a dandy little chain mail scrubber to help with cleaning them

Yeah I normally use it for steaks, chicken, burgers and flatbreads. I find the patina holds up for about a year and then it needs scouring and re-seasoning.

If it starts to smell a bit off while cooking, be sure to let the pan cool properly before you do anything. That way you've got a...
...Wait for it...
Funky cold patina

Getting made redundant, which was a bit of a shock.
It's only 8 people in the UK, so no consultation required. New investors have come in and demanded sweeping cutbacks apparently.
Cunts.

Nope, I've only been there 6 months, so all I get is my notice period (8 weeks) and holiday left over (6 days).
I've spent the morning applying for jobs. Thankfully, I have a good skill set and there's jobs about, so fingers crossed.
Right now, the plan is to acquire an L119A1 and go ham. Ok, not really, that's just being angry talking.
I've got a few months to find an new job, it'll be ok. Timing is appalling, but it sounds like they're in bother and I suspect they won't exist this time next year, so probably better now than then.

Shitty timing, sorry to hear that. Sounds like there's a demand for your skills though - immediate gardening leave?!

Shit, that sucks. But yes, get applying and get something else if you have the means. And yeah, garden leave would be handy, and an option as they're being cunts?
There's normally a large influx of positions at this time of year so hopefully with the help of all the job listers pushing, you should pick something up.
And yeah, sounds like now is the right time to get out
Fucking work.

Thanks, guys. I'm still kinda in shock.
They're paying me in lieu of notice apparently, so I guess that means I can start immediately, but I'll probably have a break for Xmas. I've got a couple of months to get sorted and I have some fall back coverage over and above that (which ideally, I'd like to stay in place unless something really bad happens) and also, some passive income (injury pension) from my old life.
We'll be ok. It's just shit right now.

Good luck, dogbot! The thought of having to apply for a new job these days just fills me with dread.
Today i have managed to write docs and a script and can confirm we have CUDA access though WSL2 Ununtu 18.04 instances. Basically the virtual linux instance that windows can run can see the GPU, yay, the Machine Learning peeps will be happy and it's up to them to get it working via Docker.
I also have an Oblivion modlist that only rarely crashes after a few hours, woot.

It’s great news Dogbot. Extra long Christmas break and you will know of your new job before your cutting up the turkey and dreaming of rennies and whisky.

Nice chilled evening planned in the pub with my wife and daughter. One of the locals has a suspected heart attack on the pub, my wife is a Dr so helps until the paramedics arrive. The bloke refuses to leave in the ambulance because his dog is with him and he's worried.
Now we have a big golden retriever at home with our 2 dogs. Every dog is really stressed and not sure how to calm them all.

Urgh, had it put it off ling enough. Instead of giving an all-staff conference (online) my undivided attention, I did my tax return. Straightforward for me but I hate it. PITA.

Moving house, or rather flats. Ugh, fucking awful. Uuurgh, feel for you. We moved about 10 times in 15 years in and around London until we moved out the area to buy. I think I can only face moving once more at best in my lifetime.

It's fucking awful. Plus you accumulate more and more stuff.
Moved every year for five years while we lived in London, but finally chilled out when we bought a house. Six years in the last one and two in this one and I definitely need another few years before I think about moving again (can't see this place as a forever home unfortunately)
Getting movers to do most of it for you is a game changer, but it's still horrible.

When the “new” Mrs. M. and I got back together (complicated!), we had to decide which house we were keeping.
We decided on hers as the best all ‘round solution for the family, but I do miss my old place. We got rid of a lot of old stuff between us as we brought the two homes together, some of which I really wish I’d been able to keep.
But, bringing less over did make things a little easier, and I think we both needed the “spiritual” break that the clearing out gave us.
I would very much like to move, just one more time, to a place that is truly “ours”, but it won’t be any time soon.
