Well I got offered the job so pretty happy at the moment! Just hope they're quick with the offer letter so I can send my notice in and start that 4 week countdown to freedom! 🤣

Woop, well done!
I am semi considering a new job at the moment as well. Only been in this a year, and on paper it ticks many boxes for my ideal job, but in reality it's horribly mismanaged which is really sucking the enjoyment out of it. Possibly even compounding the misery - like I want the job so badly to be great, but it regularly leaves me fuming at the incompetence I have to deal with. Urgh.
Double urgh... I have 3 month notice period.

I like my job, and fortunately for me, I'm the incompetence that everyone else has to deal with

Having to work out what an appropriate punishment is for my ten year old. I'll probably go with the tried and tested "no console, phone or iPad for a week".
The crime? He punched a kid in his eye. Scenario is, they're both friends, were walking to school together. The other kid was teasing my son. My son didn't like it, so pushed the other kid. The other kid kicked my guy. My guy punched him in the eye. I guess, boys will be boys. I'm trying to run that fine line between teaching the guy to stand up for himself and not having a hair trigger temper.
I'll see what I do.

It is tricky. My rule is generally don't start anything. Defend yourself if someone has a go but don't throw the first punch.

Today I played some card games; setup a board game, but I’m not sure I’m enjoying it. Made a pizza. Bit of washing up. You know. Bugger all. Did a walk outside and enjoyed the autumn leaves.
Might have a beer later and pop on a film. Yay to a day off !

I had the day off today too. Played some FIFA, took my mum's dog for a walk in the woods, did lots of autumn leaf chucking. Cleared my son's room ahead of a carpet being fitted next week. Now playing music very loud before going out for a meal. In my living room. Which is a rare treat given then kids dominate the place. They're at the grandparents, woop.

We're too soft, is the problem. I am getting closer to caving in and letting them have TVs in their rooms, just so I get some space back!

My current quandary is having to unrestrict the mesh wifi for my lad's electronic devices when he hits 16.
I have concerns about his ability to self-restrict with unlimited Netflix /xbox.
We cut it at 11pm sun-thurs, then give him to 1am at the weekend.
That way we can get some sleep through the night without him bawling into his mic in rage all night...

It's a quandary alright. And one of the reasons why we haven't caved yet. Despite the eldest being 12, we still get him off screens about 8.30/9 so he winds down. He's all over the place otherwise.

I had the day off too so played golf against my twin brother. I was losing all the way round and managed to sink a putt on the last for birdie for a come from behind win for the ages When I got home I fixed the hoover (vacuum cleaner for the non UK folk) which was nice taking it apart, finding the issue, putting it back together and seeing it work again

Are you going to play the Monster Mash? No, we don't do covers. However, we have made a spooky rap type song called Scooby Doings which is sinister. There's a few spooky ones that normally go down well too!

Good stuff. I was being slightly facetious but was assuming there would be some spooky songs! Break a leg!

In the middle of the set you really should play Slow Jamz by Twista featuring Kanye West and Jamie Foxx.
Really throw them for a loop

Went to Warhammer World and did the 40k Immaterium escape room in Nottingham today.
Both really good. Escape room was a lot more physical and multiroom than others I've done. Very atmospheric.
Not even really into GW stuff anymore (used to be as a teen though) Both recommended.

Woke up and watched the T20 final, pancakes for brunch and then tidied the garden, mowed and weeded, packed away or covered up all the garden furniture and enjoyed what feels like could be the last warm days for a few months.
Bit of dinner, bedtime routine for the kid and then hopefully a few hours of God of War before bed. Not too shabby of a Sunday.

Just come back from a weekend in Blackpool – the IDTA (dance) Nationwide Medalists of the Year Finals with the ten year old.
She didn’t bring back any metalwork this time, but a couple of our lot did.
I’m all freestyled out.

Cleaned and seasoned my cast iron skillet. Good man. I have an 8” and 10.5” (quiet at the back!) and they’re amongst my most-used kitchen items.

I love cast iron, but I rarely use it because it's most useful when I want to absolutely scorch something - and living in a relatively small flat, that's a high-risk manoeuvre. I need to season it again at some point but it's getting a nice patina on it now.
