This is out soon. It's shaping up to be quite average from a gameplay perspective I think but this article has pretty much sold me on it:
Like a lot of games these days, I find myself wanting to explore the worlds just as much as play the actual games themselves, and never having had the chance to visit Tokyo (which is pretty much my bucket list destination), the thought of being able to wander around and explore a version of it appeals quite a lot. I am even prone, like the writer of the above article, to the odd youtube video of someone wandering about filming their way around various bits of the city and it's surroundings (yes, I'm that sad). That and the fact I'm quite obsessed with Yokai of late (thanks Nioh) means unless it's a fucking car crash, I may well jump in, despite being up to my Ring in a certain other game.

I was watching a trailer for this the other day. I think it was an old trailer but it looked very claustrophobic, small lanes and back alleys. Certainly didn't strike me as a roam about a city game.

That's what I thought initially as well.

ACG did a very good preview vid. Apparently, the spaces can be huge and there's a lot of verticality. It looks like one for a sale to me.

I know I should wait a bit. I know this. The setting and the yokai though...

This is right up my street on paper, but nothing about the gameplay I've seen strikes me as anything more than average.
Colour me intrigued either way.

Yup, can't honestly say the gameplay does much for me, yet I'm jonesing for it regardless. Weird.

I'm pretty much a class 5 full roaming vapour.

The setting does look good, but all the videos look so empty and the gameplay just looks rubbish.

I only saw the trailer on PS5 as I was waiting for Elden Ring to update, and thought it looked interesting, was really intrigued.
Not sure I can handle ring-esque ghosts flying at me all the time in 1st person though.

Apparently the aiming is shit on controller as well, the 2 that played it on the giantbomb podcast both thought it was a bit shit.

It looks visually really appealing but a bit meh iameplaywise, I'll wait for reviews but can see it being a 20 quid sale purchase in 6 months.

Guess who stuck a preorder in! Hint: Me! That's right. I've no idea either. I just keep watching footage and the setting and Yokai are doing it for me. Game still looks meh but that's not even put me off. That's right. I have no self control.
Although it's the disc version, so if it's total wank I'll get most of my money back by selling/trading it.

Kind of reminds me of Gamecube exclusive Geist if anyone remembers that?

Tempted by this but read a preview that said movement was sluggish and there's no dodge. Will wait for reviews to drop.

There is a very real chance I WON'T play it. You're right. ER makes everything else obsolete. Still think it looks decent though. Reviews are out later I think. Unless it gets utterly panned, I'll keep my preorder.
I'm on track to finish my first ER playthrough over the next few nights though, so could be a nice cleanser before I get stuck into rolling another 5 new characters to start fucking about with different builds.

I don't know anything about this game beyond some gameplay I watched recently and it doesn't sell itself. It looks like an early Wii game based on motion controls. The enemies don't seem to fight back. Even visually it has that kind of simplistic look to it. Movement looks slow and clumsy, and those hand gestures
I'm sure it'll be good though, wunty. Money well spent

If I enjoy it then yes, yes it is. I also have a high tolerance for rubbishy games. You're talking to someone who liked Colonial marines.

Reviews are out. As expected I think. Fairly middling with some good and some negative amongst them.
The world itself seems to be worthy of praise with a couple of reviews comparing the exploration of a recently abandoned city to Everybody's gone to the Rapture.
Think I'll keep my pre order as it all reads pretty much how I thought.

Looks like it might be worth picking up sub-£20 down the line when there’s nothing else to play.
