Boxer or rottie would be my choice, but our house is just too small. We look after a friend's golden doodle every once in a while and it just feels a bit too cramped. My missus wants a daxi, but fuck that. I want a sturdy dog you can have a play with without worrying about stepping on it. Miniature Poodle cross imo. Comes out as a medium sized dog. Not small enough to be a yappy thing, not too big to get in the way too much.

Like a typically moggie cat, I get that but it all seems such a PITA since the last time we bought a cat, paid £8 each for them from an advert in the local rag a decade ago but now it's all breeders or gotta get vetted by this charity or that. 8 quid? Man, even cats protection is about 70quid these days. /looks at our crazy mog and assesses value for money

I can't remember how much the adoption fee for our one was 9 years ago (£20 rings a bell), but I set up a standing order of a tenner a month to the charity when we took her home, so I've probably paid more than we would've for a lot of pedigree breeds by now. Still worth every penny for the mental moggie!

Why are they all mental? Every one is lovely, yet touched by the hand of madness in different ways.

Shih-tzu man. That’s the ticket. Will run around the field for half an hour and be done. If you want more exercise yourself, knock yourself out, but you aren’t tied to it. Resilient enough to be grabbed by a kid. Extremely affectionate. And a mix of being simultaneously crafty and thick as fuck that is very endearing. I thought they were just for girls but they are mint. Perfect predominately house-y dog.

We couldn’t get her done because there’s something I’ve long forgotten about but it has to be within a window of that first season. But when the phone brings it up as a memory occasionally it’s so funny - the disappointment in her face is so real 🤣

FUCKING HELL yours as well? I swear the second they left she started leaving stains everywhere, trying to hump my arm, attracting bastard dogs at 6.25am and howling for horny reasons at 1.37am

If we ever get a dog instead of a mog, it'll be a greyhound or whippet.
They're just great. So chilled.

My sister has a greyhound. If you get one, try to rescue an ex racer, as they don’t have good lives.
Greyhounds proper are massive, be warned. I think half of the ones I’ve seen were actually whippets.
Very pretty, but they are also quite aloof. If you want a cuddly dog, it’s not that, both because it’s bony and because it doesn’t really want them.
They do I believe need surprisingly little exercise as they are obviously built for sprinting and not endurance, I think she takes hers on two 20-30 minute walks a day.
Very fussy in terms of diet but I don’t know if that’s because my sister is a bit religious about it. She’s one of those terrible ‘hoo-mum’ people too.

I grew up with a Belgian Shepard. They love hugs (and wrestling) and we had cereal together for breakfast. Not out of the same bowl, but they loved cornflakes and milk.
I’d also share an entire pack of sliced ham with them after school, not that my mum approved.
Best family member I ever had.

who has two thumbs and a car that passed its MOT?
(well, technically failed at first blush with a broken horn, but it's an old car and there are pills you can take for that)

They did Sandwich Night on Zoom during Covid but Chris called it quits in 2018 but I think the last season might’ve been 2017.

Been with my partner for 20 years 27th August.
I had completely forgot but she surprised me last night with a 20th Anniversary edition of Mark Lanegan's album Bubblegum which contains loads of unreleased material as well as two tickets to the Royal Albert Hall to see FFVII Rebirth in orchestra.
She knows me so well *cries*
