Weather is looking alright. Hoping to get the paddleboard out next week. Any recommendations for breakfast place and must eat restaurants?

If you like seafood and bistro stuff, The Coast in Cowes is really good

Restaurants/pubs are ten a plenty, but the ones with play areas for kids aren't brilliant for food. White Mouse at Chale and The Griffin in Godshill are ok, and the Chequers up the road from where you're staying. Bog standard, but gives you a bit of peace and quiet. A few decent ones further afield, more for the grown ups though (although Ada is typically Mediterranean in loving kids). Will add more when I get a chance. thehutcolwell.co.uk/www.adamediterraneanryde.co.uk/

Turkish/Mediterranean is our favourite food so that's a great shout. Our 3 Yr old loves food and well behaved when out so don't have to be too kid friendly.
She eats enough to put full grown adults to shame.

It's owned by the dad of a kid in my daughter's class. Great bloke, we always go there as it's so good. We are very unoriginal.

Always family oriented places like that and great with kids. We had one down the road(now closed because Brexit) and the amount of freebies they used to give us because they loved how happy my daughter was eating all the food.
Sending us home with boxes of Baclava, I'd have to take it into work for everyone there was so much.

I am in Edinburgh for long weekend and just had a wonderful first day. Marched up Arthur's Seat, took a very stupid route down but eventually made it, had a drink, then had an amazing Nepalese curry. Just such a great city.

And we had some good coffee and a great chocolate stout cake. And the Airbnb is awesome. Forgot those. It's all just great.

I also love Edinburgh. One of my favourite places in the UK, I always wonder if it’s as good to live there as it is to visit

One of my favourite places in the UK, I always wonder if it’s as good to live there as it is to visit It is a really nice city to live in, although my experience is 20 years out of date, the downsides are that it gets rammed with tourists at certain times of the year and the weather is crap. It's really beautiful though.

Damn, bear, making me second guess my possible trip in the autumn.
It's not LOCKED IN, but Edinburgh is one of the top places I'd want to visit in the UK

Yeah it's architecturally one of the nicest places I've ever been. The bag pipers can fuck off though.

A few years ago I got a couple of first class train tickets to Edinburgh with points accumulated through work. Booked a nice Airbnb and was looking forward spending a few days there for my birthday, but ended up getting a kitten so one of us had to stay behind. My missus had a lovely time there with her mum at my expense.
I'm definitely not bitter about it 7 years later... Will have to go this year I reckon, looks like a great city to visit.

It is a great city. Heller expensive mind you. Bit cheaper than London and muchhhh cheaper than New York, where I was in April. Think I'm still in NYC prices mode, so suddenly 60 quid for a vast meal for 2 feels cheap...

WOW that's a beautiful city The view from Arthur's Seat is honestly one of the best I've seen. Think yesterday was a perfect day for it - could see for tens of miles. And it's 360! If you stand right at the top. City, coast, undulating countryside. All sorts to look at. So odd being in a capital city and having such a massive fucking hill in the middle of it.

Embra is great. So many nices restaurants /cafes to go to and nice sights to see.
Not massive like London etc either, so easy enough to get your bearings and explore.
Recomeded if you've never been.

Unless you live anywhere west of Livingstone. Then it's a shitehole and Glasgow is much better.

Glasgow has a more vibrant food & pub/club scene along with better shopping for sure.
If you're a tourist, then i think architecturally, Edinburgh is going to win out.

Huh, so just saved myself a few hundred quid by fixing my soundbar. My soldering experiment paid off. I replaced one capacitor and nothing, so managed to identify another three that I took a punt on being faulty, ordered new ones and replaced all them. Just plugged it in and viola.
Genuinely quite chuffed. I'm pretty computer and mechanical minded, but I've never done anything like this before.

Well done! I loved soldering boards as a youngster. My dad had reels and reels of solder and I'd just melt some for fun.
