Each to their own and all that. I suspect it's because I'm not hugely familiar with their stuff.

Another year as a Love the Farm Steward finished. It really felt they got the clashes wrong this year leading to huge bottlenecks and closing off fields more often than I've seen before. My feeling is the online ticketing brings the age demographic down and leads to far more people seeing the same things. What sort of shifts did you have to do for that? It's 3 x 8 hour shifts, but that can be smaller. They move around each year, but this year's were the best ones. Had a Tuesday shift for 4 hours just stopping people setting up tents in punter fields before 8am Wednesday opening. Then it was Thursday 8pm - 3am and Saturday 8pm - 3.30am. It is brutal, and on top of then trying to go big on non work days the body gets seriously broken by the end 😁 Always have a great time though 😎

I’ve seen Biffy be incredible and rubbish but I’ve not kept up with their later albums and they’ve largely retired the first three from what I can tell.
Back to the highlights, The Gossip are such a force. I think I’ll be hard pressed to find many acts among the highlights who went this hard.

Watched Avril Lavigne this afternoon. What a fun show. Plenty of classic hits played and the crowd clearly loved it.
Also seen Soft Play, after seeing them mentioned a couple of times here. Lot of energy and good mix of stuff. James was pretty good too. Not a band I remember much about. Sit Down is obviously their best song and didn't really know anything else, but liked a lot of what I heard.
Watched Dua Lipa the other day as well, which was also a really good show. Was surprised how many tunes I knew too.

Why was a baddie in one of Liam Neeson's Taken movies doing the singing for James?

He’s a baddie in Nolan’s Batman films too

Vandelay getting away with it is a cracking song, but also the only other song of theirs I recognise from the setlist.

James are a pretty underrated band IMO. Laid, Come Home, Sit Down all good songs. Always liked She’s a Star too
I was at the rugby league Grand Final at Old Trafford in 2014 when James performed before the game and Tim Booth came into the crowd and sung amongst the St Helens fans, it was awesome

I agree, I’ve not seen all the Glasto set but I don’t think they played it did they?

I fancied a girl at uni whose favourite band was James, so naturally I tried getting into them for a bit. But when that didn't go anywhere my therapist said not to see her no more.

Finally giving Heilung a go. This could so easily be some super cool psychedelic hippy pagan thing or some weird neo-nazi primitivist shit.
Real Attila Csihar vibe from the chanted vocals either way.
It could also be a particularly curious Eurovision entry.

I made it through half of their set and I'm predisposed to watching a lot of neo pagan stuff due to people I know.

I lasted about 20 minutes. I thought it was very impressive just not quite what I needed to either watch properly or have on in the background while reading.
Opted for Dexys instead, who were fine.

Wouldn't want to miss out on the late nights with mates due to a shift - or worse, sleeping so I could do the shift. But they sound like good hours. A full on Friday and Sunday with some bands during Saturday daytime.

Gordon’s backing band looked like they’d be about 71 combined. Only saw one song on youtube but its made me excited to watch the full set tonight.

My girlfriend is still pissed at me for taking her to see Thurston Moore. It was basically over an hour of him dicking about on the guitar. He nearly went full Sonic Youth before dicking about for another 10 minutes.

Last year was the worst, that was Wednesday, Friday, Sunday.

How old is thurston then? I assumed he was kind of closer to 'our' age.
Ok, maybe not, just checked and he's 65 so also old.
Fuck's sake.

Gordon had a career as a proper artist pre-SY as well, didn’t she?
It is still weird that she’s older than my mam though.

I saw that article earlier. What a cretin.
On the other hand, Kim Gordon’s set is excellent so do try and catch it while its still up on iplayer.
