He's genuinely amusing. “This is a song about my feminist zeal – it’s called ‘I am Joe Talbot'” And his earlier comments about IDLES “The last thing our increasingly puritanical culture needs right now is a bunch of self neutering middle class boobs telling us to be nice to immigrants; you might call that art, I call it sententious pedantry.” Lias and Joe's "feud" goes back a while. For what it's worth I quite like Idles energy and have seen them a few times, always delivering a solid set. But I think they became a pantomime act a long time ago, and whatever your opinion of Lias he never holds back expressing himself authentically. With Idles it all seems so forced. I saw them when they broke through in about 2017. I messed up and forgot my earplugs and I was deaf for about a few weeks...they had some raw energy about them. My interest has dropped off since then really. Its partly the music and partly playing to your audience. I just get a bit tired of it.

I totally agree with this. Joe talbot is such a twat. On paper, I should love Idles, but they're shit. Mostly because he's shit.

Zisssou - You should check out No Teeth from Newcastle. They might work for you if FWF and Viagra Boys do no-teeth.bandcamp.com/album/decadence-in-breedingI think a lack of new headliner level acts is effecting every festival these days. Certainly Download looks more or less the same every year, Reading has been rotating a handful of top slot acts too. I wonder if the move to more personalised consumption is to blame. In the past if you were a metal guy you bought Kerrang and they put Metallica on the cover and because every metal guy bought Kerrang Metallica were known or liked by all metal guys but if you’re a band coming up now you might not have that mass exposure even within your genre. You might have 400m TikTok views or something but if someone isn’t on TikTok then they’ve probably never heard of you. So does a promoter gamble on that audience turning up or just book Slipknot again because everyone has heard of Slipknot. Cheers I'll give them a whirl.

Soft Play? More like Soft Cunts. Cracking set, I am desperate to see them live soon.

They've done well to come back, the guitarist's wife passed away with cancer. Not sure the name change was needed but sure they had reasons.
New songs sound great

We need to retrospectively go back and rename The Dead Kennedys. I'm offended. You're offended. We're all offended.

Iplayer coverage seems less than usual. No dexys, no kneecap and a bunch of others i still wanted to see the whole set of. Hope they add others in time for the weekend.
At least breeders & kim Gordon are there. Sleaford modding it for now. I see andrew is bezzing it up dancing about instead of drinking a beer.

Dexys are on the iplayer app on my telly under Headliners and Legends. Although on my phone none of the subheadings are showing so loads of sets have disappeared.

I'm guessing they broadcast Kneecap as they had a Woodsies stream going. Not sure why they haven't put everything up tbh.
Kind of makes me want to see if anyone's ripped the streams to get hold of some sets I've been meaning to catch.

I thought I read someone complaining that they weren't included in the Woodsies stream. No idea if that's true though.

Oh? so most of the woodsies stuff won't be up then? Shame, as that had more stuff i wanted to see. Seems an odd way of doing it given most sets were usually on iplayer, so i didn't panic too much about missing stuff this time round, then have got properly shafted because they haven't put them up there this time.

Mannequin Pussy’s Woodsies set is good even if they get nothing from the crowd for a lot of it.

^ That set is on my to watch list, lots to work through. Watched Soft Play, Idles, Baxter Dury and Blondshell so far; all very good (for differing reasons).

Soccer Mommy completely lost the vocals on one of the earlier songs but she didn't seem to notice so it just sounded like an instrumental set for a bit. It was one of my favourites as well. No idea what happened there, if it was like that for the audience as well or just the audio for the TV feed...

Another year as a Love the Farm Steward finished. It really felt they got the clashes wrong this year leading to huge bottlenecks and closing off fields more often than I've seen before.
My feeling is the online ticketing brings the age demographic down and leads to far more people seeing the same things.

Dua Lipa - Overproduced but great delivery and she's a class act
Coldplay - At this stage it's rinsing out the hits until their as dry as a pair of old man's blue balls. Agreed Fix You was cringe (with no disrespect for MJF much respect!). Sky Full of Stars... epic. If they could just dial the cheese factor (Chris please stfu) and just focus on the music then maybe they could still be great. Hated the last album though and new single not much better. Mum music/10
Avril Lavigne - Great set and cracking pair of lungs! She's done the time and got the hits!
Keane - A band I liked once and now I find it hard to work out why. But I am still a sucker for piano led ballads. Maybe they are a gateway band. Maybe I was just a nonce at the time. Still he’s got a great voice! shrugs/10 Kasabian - Still no idea why people really like them. My theory it was just angry Oasis fans looking for a band to burn off some indie anger on after the big O went knobs up.

Keane always reminds me of my mate from college where he declared them to be bed wetter music.

I’ve been watching Bloc Party this afternoon. I thought there’d be more Silent Alarm stuff but fair play to them for not just doing a nostalgia set. Good stuff even if plenty was new to me.
Paul Heaton looked ab extremely dependably class act as ever. Although it turns out Mrs Simple didn’t know Fatboy Slim was in the Housemartins.
Since I was away over the weekend I couldn’t do my usual routine of big hitters and “must sees” live(ish) and then catch up on the more left field stuff during the week. Looking ahead as I catch up with bigger names it doesn’t look like jazz, world music and anyone weird have got much a look in as far as the coverage went this year.

Seen Kasabian twice and underwhelmed twice. See also Kings of Leon. Oh, and Biffy Clyro. So much meh.

Looked immense: Bit weird to play a gig without a lead singer. Was it just a backing track or something? Couldn't see him anywhere on stage.
