10 years since European release today. Had mine that whole time. Still use it way more than my Switch. What a machine. Shame the bubble UI was, and still is, a big pile of wank.

10 years already, still remember getting mine with need for speed or some similar driving game. Dug it out recently, feels pretty dated now. Got all the good FF games on mine so that’s why I’ve kept it in case I get the urge for a rerun

Everyone listen to Zomoniac and ignore stoof, it's an amazing machine and not dated at all. Now buy mine please

All I really remember playing on mine was Persona 4 Golden and Tactics Ogre, so I loved it

P4G was amazing. Still one of my favourite gaming experiences and on a hand-held to boot. Guacamelee, Tearaway and Hotline Miami will also live long in the memory.
There was even a reasonably decent uncharted too.
It was a great machine, wish I'd kept mine tbh.

For me, it was the perfect machine for things like Hotline Miami and OlliOlli. Everything was so immediate and responsive. I've tried playing both on PS4 and it just felt wrong.

I actually think it holds up really well for being 10 years old. Shame they didn't pump more PS2 games onto the system.

Has it been that long? Feels longer.
Horrible gimmicky crap aside, a good system, terribly positioned. Could have been so much more with minor changes to hardware and marketing.

I love my Vita, remote playing Destiny one Chrismas while I was away was amazing, until Lizard Squad killed PSN and spoiled the fun. Playing Persona 4 Golden on it is something I will always remember.

Never could surpass the greatness that was the PlayStation Portable (PSP). Nothing beats having GTA in your hands. Also, PSP had the better versions of Wipeout and Ridge Racer.

Weirdly I had a dream last night that I was cleaning up some stuff and I found my Vita. Maybe it’s a sign that I should clean up and try to find my Vita.
Gravity Rush, P4G and Time Travelers are some of my favourite experiences of recent years.

One thing the Vita allowed me to do more than any other console was to stay focused on a single game, sometimes for 100s of hours in total.
P4G, Guacamelee, Pinball Arcade, Zen Pinball, Binding of Isaac, Risk of Rain, Everybody's Golf, Fez... Loads of brilliant time sinks.
Shame remote play was (and still is) flaky, as it was a great concept.
I think going with the rear touch pad rather than some sort of L2 R2 solution ultimately killed it for devs as a viable platform to support alongside the PS4.

Loved my Vita and really regret selling it.
The highlights for me were Sonic Racing Transformed, NFS Most Wanted and using it to watch YouTube.
It was so much better than any other handheld I've ever played. I'm tempted to get another one, if only I needed one.

Yeah the back touchscreen is pretty awful for retro gaming. Least you could remap the controls.

The L3 R3 on the touchpad makes the whole thing even worse, I dug mine out to try Persona 5 on Remote Play and the touchpad controls broke it

I always fire it up and play around for half an hour, then just forget about it again. Probably the worst console UI known to man, but it had some banging games.

I still play on my PSP quite a bit. Mainly cos it was piss-easy to mod it, and UMD games are about £2 these days and you can get some very good games dirt cheap, and rip them to the SD card. The games still look great IMO. Playing Colin McRae Rally 2005 and it's excellent, cost me all of £2.50 from CEX.
I really should get around to putting CFW on my Vita, but I kinda feel like keeping it original.

I am still playing my Vita. Currently playing through the original Mary Skelter on it. It was a good machine for DRPGs. Also VNs like the Sci;Adv series were nice in it. And the OLED panel still looks nice today.
It and P4G got me through the less scenic night time parts of my trans-Siberian train journey too, even if it taught me that flaky plug sockets stop the touch screen working while charging causing a panicked moment the first time it happened...
I do wonder if I should be seeking a new battery for it at some point too due to age...

Really loved the Vita (I had 3 at one point!), but it's not really seen much love since I got my Switch 🙁
Such a great piece of hardware. Shame the software didn't quite match up. I still say Sony should release a PS4Portable at some point. That would be awesome!

I still power it on and play on it from time to time. That original launch model has served me well.
So many great experiences. Spelunky, Gravity Rush, Tearaway, Danganronpa, the list goes on and on.

Loved my Vita, but I think what was most amazing is how much stuff I played on it without actually buying any more than 5 games.
(Those 5: LittleBigPlanet Vita bundled with the console; Killzone Mercenary; Spelunky (wish I hadn’t bought that one); Tearaway and Zero Time Dilemma.)
The Vita coincided perfectly with the PSPlus heyday of giving away a load of fantastic games. As well as 4 out of those 5, I loved playing Uncharted; Lumines; WipEout; Virtue’s Last Reward; Velocity; Rayman Origins; Gravity Rush; and a ton of great indie games. Bang for buck, it’s probably the best value console I’ve ever owned because nearly all of its best games were given away.
I still have it - it feels small now compared to the Switch but that OLED screen still looks brilliant.

I prefer the size versus the Switch, to be honest. The OLED didn't impress me as much as others, as mine had this weird black bleed that when a screen was meant to be fully black, rather than the pixels turning off as OLEDs are meant to, it was on but dark like an LCD but with a weird streak of blotchy black, sort of resembling like a river that forked off into two streams. It was really distracting. Colors were nice but I couldn't get over that bit.
But back to form factor. If it weren't for the huge rear touchpad, it'd be the perfect handheld. The size, weight and thickness were perfect, but if games had rear touch functionality, it forced you to like soft claw around the tiny grooves near the edge. I think it was slightly improved on the LCD model, but I had the OLED model.

Weird things like the rear touchpad were part of the quirky fun of the console. I sort of love and respect that Sony rolls the dice on features like that from time to time.
I remember playing Uncharted in an airport waiting lounge and the game wanting you to hold the Vita up to a light source. I actually had to pick all my stuff up and go to the gents in order to find a light I could got close enough to, as it was impossible in the big open space of the airport.
Not sure I’d do that now as people would probably think I was deranged or trying to blow the place up. (They might have thought that back then tbh…)

When the screen is actually showing things it's very nice.
As for the rear touchpad, I agree 100%. I never got used to doing L/R 2/3 on it and I strongly dislike holding the console by the small groves on the sides.

Mine always had the dark splotches but they rarely bothered me. I use the case that came with the Muramasa LE for the Vita. The rear touchpad always felt pointless to me.
