Oh, he'll undoubtedly be over-repped for the first couple of weeks, anyway, but if he's new, bullshitty and easy too, then prepare for every other player to choose him. Dhalsim was top-tier in season 5 of SFV, but still had fairly low pick rates due to him not being as straight-forward as some chars.

On the subject of SFV, I happened to see some footage of that recently and it looks hilariously chunky next to the long limbs of SF6. Everything looks so stubby!
I do still enjoy the art style though. SFIV was the worst in the series for me, art-wise. Ugly plasticine characters.

A QOL update is coming for Drive Rush. It's not fully explained in the tweet but this will only happen if you're in a neutral position or pressing forward.

SF4 while I still love it has aged terribly from a visual POV. 5 was far too similar to 4 in visuals and looked it's age when it came out.

SFIV hurts my eyes to look at now. I'd really like to see an entry with the GG:Xrd style of cel-shading. Something that has a similar art style to the Alpha series, but in 3D. I'm pretty happy with the way SF6 looks, though.

I find it pretty hard to DR cancel from a crouching normal on the stick. Much easier on the pad or keyboard, but still fairly tight. EDIT: In theory you might be able to perform a Cr.MK>Hadou style cancel, but with MK+MP to get this to come out if you require a forward input.

It’s a weird one. My assumption was that they made it a double tap for a vague skill ceiling. Not sure why an ‘extend combo’ button is the right thing to do at this point.
But then I play pad with a character who has now low cancel into DR so it’s never really bothered me.
Super glad all the characters who constantly fish for low forward into DR can do it more easily now, though. Seems fair.

It feels like it's almost too suited to Rashid, BUT we don't know what his normals are like. They could be absolutely dogshit to compensate for his ridiculous special moves and how a lot of them seem to be plus and how he's got a lv2 that controls neutral space. I already hate him.

I mean, it is what it is and it is quite out of place when you compare it to the simplification of the other controls so it makes sense.
Its no FADC, though. Now that was a needlessly complicated input.

Super glad all the characters who constantly fish for low forward into DR can do it more easily now, though. Seems fair. KoF has only 2 button cancels, while GG has 3 button Roman cancels, IIRC. Both are considered high skill ceiling games, although their combos are generally a fair amount longer. I did find even longer combos a load easier in KoF than using those fucking awful FADC commands in SFIV. I just feel that the beginners have had a leg-up with modern controls, the high level players don't need any boosts anyway, but the intermediates were left to eat cake. I think this addresses the issue a bit, although it sucks if your character won't gain much from it. A crouching light is just solid to cancel from as it stands on a stick. Maybe I'm just a slow, old fart, but the larger actuator I fitted to it and resulting decreased deadzone didn't help massively with the command either. Dee Jay relies on raw drive rush mainly and Sim uses standing cancels instead, so it's not huge for my current selection of characters. It might coax me into playing more of the cast, though.

I can’t think of any technical reason why, but I wonder if this is possibly to do with drive rush “swallowing” inputs, which some have reported.

Good job! I’m currently on plat 3 about half way to plat 4. I do think Capcom need to implement ranks above Master, since virtually every pro has achieved that and there’s no drama for ranking up or down!

The matchmaking is absurdly quick. I tend to get 5-10 seconds between matches at best.

Do you guys tend to switch characters or just stay with the same one?
I'm tempted to switch away from lily for a while as I have become one dimensional and always use condor spire to try and get in, maybe using another character will rewire my brain

Atm, it’s probably a 70/30 split between Marisa and Blanka. I actually want to main Blanka but it just wrecks my thumb.

I like playing all characters in any fighting game I play.
I started trying Dhalsim today and I really like him, which surprised me. Took me a few matches to get to grips with his limbs and where to expect them to go.
Currently sitting at Gold 2 which isn't bad for a first day I guess.

Wow! The new input is an order of magnitude easier than the old one. Cramming neutral>forward>forward into 4 active frames from your crouching light was pretty hard on a stick.
It's turned from difficult to being an absolute piece of piss. I just have to work on the actual application of the move now, something I'd neglected because I could rarely get it to come out.
