Glad it’s getting a release on the Xbox this gen. I’m an old man and even I can pick up the input lag on the ps4 and ps5. Not sure how the ps5 is worse than the ps4, too.

I was trying to figure out who Ken's redesign reminds me of, and he's like halfway between Mark of the Wolves' Terry and Johnny from Cobra Kai.

Oh he's definitely Terry from Garou. I've just read that it's supposed to be a Ken who's fallen on hard times. Someone at Capcom really doesn't like Ken especially after his pudding face in 5.

Oh plus this game is pretty much nailed on for February, seems Capcom will be doing that whole release games a month after each other just like Resi 2 remake and DMC 5.

40ish year old gamers, how are your primary thumb joints doing with fighting games? The last one I played competitively was Soul Calibur II and I worry that a foray into another fighter, some 18 years on, would make dust of my minilimbs

Not 40 yet, but my joints are still good the only issue is that I can't play fighting games on a joypad, especially with the shit d-pads that exist now. The best joypad I've ever used was the official SF4 Mad Catz 6 face button controller with a d-pad you could just roll an hadoken off. I'll probably invest in a fightstick if SF6 is the real deal.

I use an arcade stick, so my thumbs are stress free when it comes to fighters.
Don't imagine this will be so comfortable on PS5 with the DualSense's stiff as hell d-pad though.

I guess you could use the simplified controls if you don't give a shit about total control. I mean it even has a dedicated special move button.

I've found I have to hold my Xbox pad really tightly at an awkward 30 degree angle to reliably input my quarter circles nowadays so the simplified input options are a real boon to me.

My thumbs are completely fucked. They click all the time and the last time I put a lot of hours into a fighting game (injustice 2) I got like tendinitis or something in one of them and was in agony for like a week. It’s one of the reasons I only really play fighting games on the pc, cuz my good fightstick still works.

There’s a playable demo at the summer games fest thing and so a bunch of offscreen footage can be found on Twitter. The demo has Rui, Chun, Luke and the drunken master guy. It actually looks really really good! I was a bit cold on the trailer but I’m getting convinced..
Edit: for example:
Apparently the drunk guy gets more dishevelled the more drink he gets!

God, this game has got me looking up arcade sticks. Sold my last one when I sold my ps4 back in 2019.. but I’m feeling drawn back in!
Also did you see that if you do a frame perfect sonic boom it has better properties? Fantastic stuff. I hope all characters have something like that.

Seems like there's been proper effort put into having some fun modes outside just the regular 1v1 fighting, very promising.
Ken at least looks better than his SFV counterpart, which was so bad I stopped playing as him

The single player content does look cool. And hopefully blanka doesn’t suck again. V-skill/trigger is a really poor mechanic and ruined a lot of characters. I played Juri a lot in SF4 and she absolutely blew in 5 but looks a lot, lot better in six.
