Has anyone actually read the character names? They're fucking hilarious.
Aubrey Plaza is Wow Platinum
Shia Lebouef is Clodio Polcher
Fucking ridiculous.

Ha true. I dunno whenever I hear "passion project" in movies especially ones that directors have been trying to make for decades they're almost universally terrible. This one has the potential based on names alone.

Well, it's Coppola. I hope he has one good movie left in him.

Agree - sounds like it’ll involve at least Aragorn and Gandalf. Are they recasting those roles? Would be weird to have a Peter Jackson LOTR vibe but with different actors playing key roles - can’t imagine anyone else playing either of them.

Can we wait just a few more years and still somehow shoehorn Orlando Bloom in as Legolas in some bonkers love triangle?

That Dune 2 bucket really kicked off something. No idea if this is real or not, I'm leaning to if it is real it'll be rarer than adamantium and that doesn't even exist.

Weirdly that was back in the days of delayed US release dates so Gremlins and Ghostbusters didn't come out on the same June day in the UK, they came out on the same day in December instead! Mental.
At least Gremlins got a release date more appropriate for a film set at Christmas.

That Paramount/Skydance merger is dead.

I always had in my head that it was *Paramount* buying Skydance, not the other way round. That's absurd that such a new and relatively smaller company could be in a position to acquire something like paramount.

Less absurd when you see it was the son of multibillionaire Larry Ellison and seems to have used all the connections there to get loads of investors to throw money at them.

Just watched the trailer for The Bikeriders, and it is another one of Hardy's "Why hellooooo there Batman" attempts at an accent.

Ugh, a real shame but seemed inevitable given Furiosa's box office. Miller is 79, so hopefully he can find a way to make it soon, maybe if Furiosa does well on streaming... right?

Gutted to hear that.
Why another prequel though? It really lowers the stakes and seems unnecessary for a Mad Max film which could easily be standalone stories.

There's also the possibility that, after his behaviour on the set of Fury Road, Miller just doesn't want him playing Max again.
I mean, for all we know, The Wasteland is set twenty years later and they're going to get and actor in his sixties to play the role.

Kind of hard to imagine a sequel would get greenlit regardless of who's attached to it. Furiosa has done fairly miserably in the box office and is already making its way to streaming in a few days.
