The last film was a success especially coming out of another covid lockdown around the world. Didn't mind it but the humans in the Godzilla part of the story sucked.
Not film but... no thanks

There's Buffy fans on here somehow so I imagine there will be a few twilight fans hidden away.

Not sure being a fan of Buffy is something to hide, the Twilight shite can get in the bin though.

How many people who slate Twilight have actually seen it?
I've never seen it and can't say it's ever appealed so I don't have an opinion. I mean it sounds crap, but I really can't judge it.
But then Mark Kermode, one of the few film critics I generally respect liked at least a few of the films, the latter ones in particular, so do wonder if they're as shit as most people say.

I've seen them all multiple times, as my wife is a fan.
When we were first going out, I even had to go to the cinema for a midnight screening of the last film.
I paid, for the tickets and popcorn of course. We are now married, and in many ways I am still paying

As an Irishman myself, the Oirish vampires in the last film are so sooooooo bad they strode straight through offensive and are firmly in the hilariously bad camp.

I tried to watch it but stopped.
Rest I caught up on via honest trailers.

Hopefully in a TV format they can really delve into Jacob imprinting onto a newborn baby.

I watched the first one on TV. I was surprised by how dull and dreary it was. I don't get how teenagers enjoyed it, let alone anyone else.

Still though, Chris Pratt as Judge Holden is certainly the interesting choice.

Pretty happy with Jared Leto as Toadvine, he'll really liven the story up with a bit of humour.

In all seriousness though, they'll probably get D'Onofrio to do Holden or something. I wonder how he feels when his agent presents another offer to play a preternaturally large bald man.

Execs have seen Fast X and now rather than having a two parter ending they want to make it a trilogy.

My favourite living fantasy author, Joe Abercrombie, is getting a film adaptation made.
Best Served Cold is being directed by Tim Miller, with the script by Abercrombie himself - it's not always good for authors to write their own adaptations but Abercrombie has worked in the media a bit as an editor and has written for an episode of Miller's Love, Death and Robots so I'm reasonably optimistic.
Please don't be shit.

I've often considered reading some of his books. In my limited time I read David Gemmell and Brandon Sanderson. What would be a good book to start with, the one that's being adapted?

I absolutely loved the First Law Trilogy right up until the end which just felt really underwhelming and bleak as hell. I know this is probably more 'realistic' and against convention but it still felt unsatisfying as hell with all character arcs being seemingly reset to the start of the series . Need to get cracking on this trilogy.

I didn't mind The Age of Madness, but it felt a bit more... predictable? Like he pretty consistently has things turn out poorly for his characters, so after a while it stops being surprising.

I dunno, I just love the characters. Orso literally became one of my favourite characters of all time.
I don't fully agree that all the characters arcs reset either, Shivers in particular has had a lot of growth over the years, and other characters end up in air different situations from where they started. Not always for the better.
It's true that some characters revert back to their old ways, but that's one of the themes - I think Cosca even says something like "sometimes people change. Sometimes they change back". It's also explored write a lot seeing how Logen basically code switches back into his old self once he's back in certain situations.
I mean if that concept of people trying to change but failing isn't appealing I get it, but it feels very true to me.
Also his books are fucking hilarious amidst all the grimness, and it's that black humour more than anything that elevates it over his contemporaries for me.

Apart from Logen I don't recognise any of those characters - are they from other books? I've only read the First Law Trilogy. I like the concept of people trying to change and failing but it happens with practically every character - Jezal, Ferro, Glokta etc. all seem to have real growth development and by the end of it they're back to where they started with regards to their actions and personality. It definitely rang true but it just left me really unsatisfied after a really engaging read - loved the characters, world and everything else.

Ah, they are in the other books.
Actually Shivers is a minor character in the trilogy.

Someone do the Thomas Covenant books. Leper! Outcast! Unclean! Whilst you’re at it also do The Stainless Steel Rat books as well. Ahh…memories.
edit: The Rock is getting stand-alone Fast & Furious spin-off.

Ahh…memories. edit: The Rock is getting stand-alone Fast & Furious spin-off. I always thought a big budget GoT style could work too. Not sure how well a key early scene would go down these days though... I suppose with movies you have a neat 3 trilogies... Edit - Re. Covenant obviously
