Do we think there is ever going to be another performance patch or have they just given up? You know what, I was thinking that and it's been soooo long I think they've just given up. My theory is because it was a game that Itsuno didn't think he'd get the chance to make this game and despite the positive sales it had I don't think they were enough where Capcom would willingly put people to work on fixing it.

I’m struggling to find the motivation to go back and finish this off. I’m going to force myself to do it though as I feel it deserves to be finished.
It’s a shame as it has been great fun to play for the most part, but it’s really become a drag towards the end. Mainly due to the constant enemy encounters and lack of enemy variety. Oh another group of goblins. Fun.

Ah, pissed off- got to the Sphinx, did the first four things, the fifth- being to re-find the first Seekers Token- is absolutely stupid. I was on about 80, I’ve used a map to fcheck out about 40 and no Finders Token. A really irritating play session and a ridiculous idea to ask gamers to remember a single moment finding something amongst the 8329 other things they’ve picked up 🤬 I did the same and just ended up giving up after reloading an inn save multiple times to try to find it. You'll miss out on a trophy/cheevo, but can still finish the overall quest if you fail that bit. Fucking awful bit of design!

Did you at least try the first place such as the fountain in the square?

I confess I have had a bit of a break to play other games, but got back into this earlier in the week. The main story seems to practically disappear when you cross the border, and I’ve half forgotten what I’m meant to be doing… heading through the magic door to the south of Battahl is my next quest marker. The combat remains good fun (apart from the Trickster which I simply don’t get) but mopping up side quests has felt a bit of a chore due to the constant back tracking. And I have opened up most of the shortcuts too. I burned through a fair few Ferrystones doing the Sphinx quests and definitely hope there’s an Eternal one somewhere going into the end game (or maybe NG+) I’m keen to see the end (and the proper end too) but less sure I will launch straight into NG+ (which I did do almost immediately in the first DD). Certainly no regrets- 60 hours played and I’ve definitely enjoyed it a lot. But I definitely think I’ll play something else next.

Not sure why the first place I found one resonated with me. Was quite a random place as well. A little cave with Saurians in it.
Of course, I fucked up the Sphinx quests later on by myself anyway...

I think mine was up the tower in Melve. That's what I thought too. Was quite disappointing to get up there and find it wasn't, then spend 5+ hours faffing about following videos and guides and still not finding the bastard thing.

Not sure if this has been addressed here. I really want to buy this game but I am put off by the checkerboard issue I heard about which affects the Xbox version.
Has anyone got the Xbox Version and has this been fixed yet?
I could buy it on the PS5, but I would prefer the XBox version due to the fact it supports low frame rate compensation.

A lot more people on here seemed to play on PS which might be a better choice for more free pawns.
I got the Xbox version for LFC, but can't say I noticed any checkerboard issues. It's probably one of those things you wouldn't be able to unsee when it's been pointed out (like the lighting in P3R for me)

I put a port crystal down on the volcanic island but I can’t travel to it. Seems I need to progress the story more. Which is a bit stupid.
Got a couple of areas in battahl to explore and the rest of the island. Then I’m done. Great game overall but ready for the end now.

So a patch did come out recently. It does fuck all to address the massive elephant of of performance in the room. I swear they've got like 5-10 people working on it.

I finally completed the main story after about 74 hours of playtime! I made a point of finishing every quest in my quest log before heading up to Moonglint Tower, so there was quite a bit of backtracking to do, but overall I would say I thoroughly enjoyed the game for all the same reasons I loved the first Dragon’s Dogma.
(I am now in the post-game stage of the Unmoored World, but as its early days, I will hold fire commenting on that for now!)
Overall, I thought it was both better and worse than the first game. Definitely better in terms of visuals and performance (the occasional slow down in PS5 never really bothered me) and with the exception of the Trickster (which just never clicked) the changes to the classes were great. Every other one was fun to play, and I haven’t yet exhausted the skill trees of every class, nor really put much time j to the Warfarer… there’s definitely a good NG+ game here for me one day.
If anything let it down a bit, it was the main story. Some nice side quests helped, but the game definitely fell into the trap of having totally under-developed villains and failed to really ratchet up the stakes in narrative terms as you head towards the second half of the game.
Perhaps the post-game quests will change my mind on that, but I felt the first game’s Duke Edmun and Elysion were much more interesting characters. The supporting cast was also a bit underused, with only Ulrika really offering much plot development.
But then perhaps playing for the story isn’t the point. Much as I love a good narrative RPG, I do t think many game have nailed the systems and combat aspects as well as this. It’s not quite Elden Ring deep, but it’s a lot more accessible and the combat lets you just have fun with some ludicrously overpowered moves.
Of course, the highlight is the Pawns. I enjoyed crafting and upgrading my own companion, and always enjoyed the process of selecting the rest of my party to compliment my chose roles. The chatter and hilarity and chaos that Pawns create was always brilliant. (And it’s been great to take a few of your lot out on adventures with me!)
So while I have more (possibly much more?) to play, the game has already delivered almost all I was hoping for, and I’m still not tiring of the gameplay loop. Any DLC would be a day one.

Completed this last night! 83 hours in total and I did all the quests available in the Unmoored World. Overall, I really enjoyed this. It’s flawed - much like the first game was - but the gameplay was always fun and I’m already itching to do a NG+ run to really try out the Magick Archer and Warfarer classes that I unlocked late on and didn’t really spend much time with. The end game in the Unmoored World I thought offered a nice coda to the story, giving the chance to revisit places and characters from the game, although arguably some of those would only really have much meaning if you’d made a point of doing most of the side quests.
I do wish that end game area had a few more monsters to fight though - despite revisiting all the key locations and spending time roaming the sea bed, there were maybe a handful of exciting encounters…? I would’ve liked them to lean more into the “end of days” feeling and delivered a lot more chaos and jeopardy.
Basically, I didn’t feel I wanted to spend time exploring once the quests were done - it just made sense to finish and press on into NG+ instead if I wanted to keep playing and mop up some trophies etc for the platinum. But despite those flaws, I enjoyed my 80+ hours and I’d absolutely take more of this game - if they do a Dark Arisen / Bitterblack Isle-style DLC I will absolutely be there for it. Thanks also to everyone for the loan of your Pawns! We had some top bantz.

Oh, apparently there’s a new patch today - right after I finish 🙄 - which improved inventory management and performance (a bit).

I should probably get round to actually finishing the first bit of the campaign now I guess! I was loving it, then got side-tracked with other stuff.
Must try harder to focus on one game at a time!

Oh another group of goblins. Fun. I finished it the other week, it came surprisingly suddenly, thought there would be another location chapter after the end. (Though I did have the so called "bad" ending) I wasn't into doing what it was about to ask me to do. Excellent though, loved the world they created, and the mechanics they introduced, but I am done with it, the 60-70 hours I put in was enough, more than my money's worth, even though I am sure there was loads I missed.

I’m not 100% sure about the bad bad ending (did you fight the dragon?? ), but I think if you load up your last save, the game offers you the chance to go back and try out the other endings. I won’t spoil it here (there are lots of guides on the internet), but it’s definitely possible to get all the main endings on one playthrough. Sounds like the “true” ending might make it feel less abrupt for you. It’s only a few hours long (and Ferrystones are much more plentiful so you can fast travel without really worrying about it).

I did not, I say bad, but it was the ending I wanted, and TBH couldn't be bothered for what I thought would add more time, and the dude I was supposed have some affinity to I could not give an arse about. I think you are right my ending was lacking. Got all the value I needed out of of the game, which is saying something for an open world game these days for me

Which reminds me that I need to get back to this! Same! Just a couple of bits I need to do before pushing on to the end. I’ve definitely got my money’s worth out of it but I would say it’s just a bit too big and lacking in variety.

Yeah it really lost it's way, particularly towards the end. I still have no idea what the game was about. I couldn't engage with the story at all.
Still... Simply the best fun I've had in a game in a long time.

I got to the end game but died after being slightly careless trying to rush through a section to complete the story.
What I hadn't realised was that doing so would reset my entire progress in the end game section.
Yes, everything.

I tried the 2 hour demo on steam this morning and it runs great and looks quite good. I was enjoying exploring off the beaten track but the keybind setup on pc is an exercise in frustration.
Am I missing something or do I really have to hold a button to press another?
