dfunked You can make life a bit easier for yourself by resting at an inn, which will create a checkpoint to which you can return when you die. Just don't do it too often!

Yeah I think I've fixed the godswatsit as I've got the quest to go see Phaesus or whatever his name is. Honestly the main quest is such a nonsense I really don't care about it I'll head in the other way (not through the door) and I should be ok I guess. Don’t worry. Makes total sense soon and - Ha ha ha no sorry I can’t do it.

Yeah, just reading up on the optimal way to tackle it. I'll give it another chance tomorrow after I've settled down from my rage quit. Probably doesn't help that I sold all of my allheal potions because "who needs them when a campsite is never far away"... D'oh!

I gave the endgame another chance and after you've gotten over the initial shock, it's actually pretty fucking good. I love that it totally turns the fast travel system on its head and you go from using it extremely sparingly to "oh, I forgot to sell this harspud, might as well fast travel back to a shop lolz" It has some fun unique boss fights, something the main game felt a bit lacking in (aside from that shitty titan fight and the end boss) Now to farm some black freakish mane and get stuff upgraded!

dfunked Really pleased you enjoyed it, mate. I got a bit frustrated myself at first, but kept plugging away, and was glad I did in the end - it made for a satisfying conclusion to a great game.

I just Martyr Bolted every boss in the end game area and that was that. Never even needed to get my hands dirty.
I did anyway though. I like them dirty.

So played a wee bit last night and (thanks to some cheating/guides) have finished the sphinx stuff and got a fancy wokestone.
Guess I may as well start pushing towards the end at level 53. Where does it start? If I hand over the wyrmcrystals to finish the thing? Or do I have a bit more time than that?
I will maybe finish all other open quests first just in case.

Hand over the wyrmcrystals and then carry on for a bit. If you want to know specifically:
You'll get a quest to deliver the Godsthingy to Phaestus on the volcanic island. You'll get to the settlement you started at and reach a point where an NPC basically tells you you're at the point of no return. That's your cue to go back and fanny about for a bit if you want to

Currently using the MS projectile that gets harder to aim the longer you hold it, so I end up whiffing most of my shots. Also grabbed another unmaking arrow that I'm saving for a special occasion, so it makes sense to have an archer skill.

Been away so not played for a week or so. I think my next task was to get to the volcanic island and unlock the Magick Archer vocation. Then find the sphinx in Battahl and tidy up some quests before finishing.
It's been great, but I think I'm nearly ready to finish now.

I find anything above 40 - 50 hours is my absolute limit, even for this type of game.

I think what goes against this game as well is the lack of enemy variety. There are obviously some great encounters and its always fun to uncover new areas of the map but fighting the next load of Goblins or Saurians becomes a bit of a chore after a while.

Not just enemy variety but the level of encounters just moving barely 5 metres there was a battle. I sometimes just wanted to get to an objective without having to fight a ton of enemies.

I tend to run past stuff if I'm in a hurry or specifically want to do something other than fight

If I ever encountered a rattler in the wild, 99% of the time I kept running while mashing down on the dpad. Utter arsewipes, the lot of them!
And yeah, towards the end I might slow down a bit and recover stamina while my pawns fucked up random mobs so that I get a bit of XP, but they're just too frequent for me to engage most of the time.

Yeah it got wearing for sure. Those saurians / rattlers etc were never less than a boring chore to fight. Same with them in the first game.
A minor quibble though. Game is fucking awesome.

I am reaching the end of my patience with it too. The exploration is just amazing, but the similar mobs do get tiresome. PLus I'm level 53, so we can basically steamroll most things out in the wilds now.
I've just got the last bits of map to uncover and go and annoy mystic spearman who seems to be lurking further up from 'her', so will see what's happening, then mosey on to start working on the end.

I find the enemy type tedium a weird one because they're tapping into mythology which is so fucking rich for incredible enemies. And they have a fair few in there that are outstanding.
I'm definitely done with it now. Lack of a more reasonable fast travel is obtuse by the end rather than a benefit and is the real killer for me. Can't be arsed with a few things because it means travelling across the entire map for the millionth time. It's been great fun, but probably ten hours too long for me. Solid 8/10, glad I jumped on board.

Yes- I enjoyed the travel initially, because it felt like an adventure each time. Now I’ve run those routes a million times and fought the same old ambushes etc it’s getting a bit tedious. No I don’t want to go for a sodding walk with you to Harve Village yet again thank you, however cute you are. It’d be nice if some sort of overarching travel system was blended in to the mid to late game.

Solid 8/10, glad I jumped on board. By the end I had a fair few portcrystals laid out so I was just fast travelling a lot of the time. Made things much easier. I will say it's remarkable how the story fell of a fucking cliff within the first 10hrs or so. Luckily the minute to minute action was exceptional but I'm amazed at how I was able to tune out the complete absence of a story and then laugh at the game tried to introduce some semblance of a story like in the last hour and the endgame. You can't do that.

I love the fact that all of the people mentioning their foibles about it, have also stuck it out regardless That charm it has, whatever it is, like the first one, is enough to see you through. It's almost like while it has its flaws, there's still something cool enough about it to continue. The fact none of us seem to know what that is, is even more bonkers!

Just working my way through Drabnir’s grotto. I’ve triggered the cut scenes and it seems I’ve missed a fight against the gigantic stone statue . As it was suggested on here I might. I honestly have no idea wtf is going on.

After dicking about exploring the last few map edges i had missed, I recently found out wilhelmina has a quest.
So doing that now before turning in the wlc for the goober and pushing on to the final bits i assume. We'll see what happens as this game has wrong footed me enough as it is already.
Actually, now you mention it, I still need to fully explore drabnirs grotto now you mention it, i didn't fully rake ir all at the time.

Ah, pissed off- got to the Sphinx, did the first four things, the fifth- being to re-find the first Seekers Token- is absolutely stupid. I was on about 80, I’ve used a map to fcheck out about 40 and no Finders Token. A really irritating play session and a ridiculous idea to ask gamers to remember a single moment finding something amongst the 8329 other things they’ve picked up 🤬
