Boss battles suck, finishing games sucks... Starting to sound like it's old age that sucks more than anything, tbh That's essentially what I'm getting at. IT'LL HAPPEN TO YOU TOO YOUNG MAN.

From get away with boss battles a bit because of summoning. They know they're shit, so they let you call for help, and I've found that's helped take the edge of most of them. They also at least make them look cool.
Other than that, they can all get in the fucking sea. I remember that shit period where everyone was adding them everywhere. Same time as QTEs I think.
I like the approach here of having obviously big, tough enemies out in the wild for you to battle, which could be considered bosses, but by making them in the wild you can run away. The medusa thing at the start and the chimaera fight were both great.

Erm Rob… Wodewick just threw one of my other pawns off a cliff. Oh dear. Any particular reason why he did that? I will throw him off a cliff as punishment in my next session.

One last thing and then I'll drop the subject, wasn't everyone here raving about the boss fights in FF16? Or is the Venn diagram of "Fontgeek Dragon's Dogma fans" and "Fontgeek Final Fantasy 16 fans" just two distinct circles?

That’s a long old trek down to bakbattahl. Uplift in enemy strength too.
I made it eventually though. Switched to mystic spearhand as I wasn’t really feeling the thief. Got me a nice weapon too. Shit is expensive down here though. Plus upgrading makes it heavier rather than lighter which I didn’t realise until too late.
Not sure whether to progress things down here or ferrystone back and continue exploring the map in vernmouth. Might do a few things around the city then head back.

To be fair there was a Griffin down there. I’d decided against fighting it and got them all to follow me. I look behind me and he’s lobbing her off the cliff instead. It was very amusing.

The trek to Batakalayl is pretty cool, feels like a proper journey. Done a few bits of exploring and plonked a port crystal down in the city. Worked my way up to the other side of the big locked gate in border town.
I’ve only just seen that where you get the upgrade makes a difference, pretty cool.
Maxed out the archer class. Still torn on it but it must be doing something right. Missed the mystic spear hand guy in both places so need to pick that up and mess about with that.
Are valuables just for selling?
Should probably finish Brants quests.

Looking at where I am in DD2, and comparing it to FightinCowboy's 'Let's play' playlist, it seems I'm well into the main questline. Reckon I'll ease off for a bit and do some exploring/side content, as I don't want this game to end anytime soon.
Turns out I was about to begin the penultimate main quest, before the
post-game content begins! I'm glad I bailed on it and decided to dick about for a while instead.

I've tried a couple of FF games over the years and never really got along with them so....maybe!
( Do they still not allow you to save whenever you need to? Awful design choice.)

I wouldn't know, I haven't gotten around to playing it either, I just know its boss battles were generally touted as one of its high points Maybe it's just that I tend to gravitate towards games where the bosses are generally impactful and enjoyable then

I'm going for the warfarer class tomorrow night. I've stumbled upon the right place, but only have 1 of the item you need. Apparently I can pick one up relatively easily nearby but I'll have to nip back to cat town for the 3rd. Getting there will be easy, getting back not so much.

He’s shown no signs of dragon covid but it might finally be time for a precautionary cliff dive. I think the Mystic Spearhand has some ranged ability so I might be able to ditch an archer pawn and bring Billy back in. I’ve just rehired Vyrt as I needed a mage for healing. Things were starting to get very dicey on the last part of journey to Bakbattahl. Woddy insisting on fighting a golem probably didn’t help.

I’ve only just discovered elves. There was a huge chunk of the first area I hadn’t ever been to.

The archery side quest that takes you to their part of the world was pretty cool. Makes the regular story quests seem all the more rubbish in comparison.

Sorry, being a bit vague on purpose. The one that triggers in Vermund when an eleven archer speaks with you.

There are massive parts of the first area I haven't explored. I think I'll go do that next.

I still haven't been to the marsh area. Apparently if you jump of a griffins back in the opening area and kick the shit out of it a bit, it'll fly you back to a nest there.
Keep meaning to try it but getting distracted by numerous other things.

Wasn't aware of it before, just happened to be on it's back when it flew away.

At least enemies in this area are weak as shit compared to what I've been fighting. It's quite refreshing to take down smaller mobs with just a few shots.

As part of my bid to postpone the final quest for as long as possible, I'm actively seeking out parts of the map that I haven't uncovered yet - find a path that's still shrouded in fog, plonk down an objective marker, and off I go.
Even then, I keep getting waylaid. "So if I take the left-hand fork ahead, then keep going straight, I'll arrive at-- ooh, a cave! Wonder what's inside."

Sorry the Griffin took me to the misty woods. Not sure if that is the same as the marsh area. Maybe there are a few Griffin nests around.

That’s a long old trek down to bakbattahl. Uplift in enemy strength too. Finding this for myself, I had just been thinking that I'm starting to get overpowered and the game obviously took steps. Managed to kill a drake, had to use two wakestones, and another to resurrect Beren afterwards. Then a Golem. Then ran into an armoured troll/orc thing, and it turned out he had a mate, had to fight both at the same time. Fucking hell. I'd quite like to swap out Mystic Spearhand for something else (just picked up Trickster) but I think the shield bubble might be the only thing keeping us alive.
