Omg, you don't need to stand in the healing bubble, you can just walk through it and you will continue to heal! I did not know that- I was standing in them like a noob. Mental note made! I had figured I could stash all the mats in the inn and still use them though. There's so much going on with this game. Also, if you help the geezer ring the bell at the cenotaph, the key he gives is really nearby, but covered by boxes. A pawn lead me to that, which was great as I would never have checked! Anyone worked out how to get rid of wooden bars on the other side of gates? I know i can shoot them off from the same side as the wood, but an exploding arrow doesn't seem to to work. anyone worked out if you can instruct your pawns to use a fire spell on them? Or is it just hit go and hope they do the right thing you want? Which they probably won't.

Generally you have to find the other way around BUT I had a pawn who randomly fired a magic aoe spell on the other side of the gate which destroyed it.

Haven't found an elite tent yet, purchasable (not MTX)? You get one as a quest reward for finding the Jadeite Orb. There's actually 2 quests involving the orb but can get around that by creative thinking. When in doubt, consult the Internet.

I'm tempted to switch to thief for a bit. I'm enjoying Archer but I feel like I'm getting diminishing returns on my DP for new skills.

I am struggling to find fast travel points. I've discovered one so far, not even in the capital. Is there supposed to be one in every settlement?

No, there is one in Herve and Vernworth (by the rest inn just outside of the Pawn Guild) but I've been given two Port Crystals and put one in Batthal and one in the Elven town although I might reclaim that one back as I haven't felt the need to go back to that place. Actually maybe I should.
I know that you can buy them for about 20,000 I think or you can spend 20 dragonscale crystals when you get to the appropriate part of the game to use them.

Yeah I should have put one in Battahl before I ported back to Herve. Although something has just happened there that might keep me there for a bit which was quite unexpected.

Also someone on Reddit has worked out how to make 300k gold in an hour by drying out fruit and fast travelling to sell it if you need some extra cash and don't mind putting an hour aside to get it.

Oh...you got that completely WTF moment that I got last night too? Although you can go through the back way (wahey) into Batthal if you're coming from Herve.

Have yet to discover the full back route yet, I think I have both ends of it though so just need to walk the path.
Have you explored the surprise yet, I'm getting right on it when I'm next on.

No, it was already quite late and the game has the frustrating yet great ability to keep giving you reasons to explore if you engage with it which is quite dangerous when you need to go to sleep. I think I'll give it a bit until I explore I have some outstanding missions I want to complete, tbf I probably won't even get around to it until after I get back from holiday.

Yes, it's a very hard game to stop playing.

You definitely have to unlock it, but I'm not sure how as I haven't got that far myself yet.

Ok I'm pretty early on so I'm sure all will become clear. I'll stick with archer for a little longer then maybe move over to thief for a bit.

I like my archer too much to change. I've perfected jumping off twats and shooting them in the face now.

I'm far from perfecting that. It is fun when you pull it off though.
Have you found any benefit to grabbing onto big enemies as an archer? I've just unlocked the explosive shot upgrade that lets me stab an explosive arrow into them so I'll give that a try.

Haven’t tried it really tbh as I try to keep my distance normally.
And shoot them in the face with said exploding arrows.

Man, I feel conflicted on this- I’m clearly out of step with everyone here. It looks and runs like blurry arse. It’s full of jank, combat is floaty and unsatisfying after Souls. I do love the pawn system and there’s clearly depth, but it all feels so very AA. Done about six side missions and just going to the capitol now, I probably need to play more, I can see there’s charm there but it’s not- yet- enough to win me over.

Oh man, pawns that can guide are absolute godsends for some of the more vague side quests.
Ignoring them taking a path that goes directly through a fucking dragon, that is...

You need to visit Merve again.

Oh it definitely has issues.
A fair bit of jank, not enough gear options and the best of it is all vendor sold making rewards for exploring often underwhelming. Not enough enemy types. Questionable AI including no stealth mechanics for stealth missions.
But in spite of that I'm having a good time as I love fantasy RPGs and this is scratching the itch for me.
I will say the performance would have been a deal-breaker for me on console as well Mr cruncher so I know where you are coming from there too.

This is the thing for me. It works IN SPITE of it doing so many things to make me dislike it. I can't even explain it, at first I was like this is alright, I'm not sure what the 5 star reviews are about and then I think it may have been when I fought my first Cyclops the music started and I used the blocked river to fuck him over and that was it for me. I was fucking sold. Plus it shares the same concept of Elden Ring and current Zelda of promoting exploring rather than have icon bloat all over the map. It's amazing how's it taken me a long time to be comfortable with having no icons all over a map telling me what to do next. A lot of it really does feel like the Fighting Fantasy choose your adventure books.

I also read that if you set your pawns quest to slay a monster or something and set the reward as 10k, other pawns will get that 10k so they normally hire your pawn. This obviously costs you 10k, but what people are doing is they're all doing the same, so there's 10k's flying all over the shop as rewards and your pawn can be hired by multiple players, so you can apparently earn about 200k in a couple of hours

I love it (more than I'd expected to, if I'm honest).
Yes, it has its issues... but it's just so charming and so different, somehow.
