I'll have to check my level and user name. My pawn is a healer and has to be fairly high as I've completed the main game and a fair bit of the dungeon.

There you go Ned - send Witchking a friend request, and nick his high level healer pawn for free

I'm not sure what you need to use my pawn (its been a long long time). She is level 83 and called Emily. She is setup as a healer with the ability to beat stuff up and augment. Pawn ID is 0CF3-FI84-BA00. My friend code is SW-3942-3227-1027

I can't remember anything at all about the game and I'm almost tempted to start from scratch, but it seems you can only have one save game per account and I'm not losing all that effort. I mean I spent ages pouring over the setup and config of my characters and even though I have no clue what any of it means any longer, I need to preserve that work!

You could get it on a different version Wunty has got me back into it, and tempted as I was to carry on with my previous ps4 version that's at bitterblack isle, it would be on a smaller telly, and I can't be arsed with that, so I've rolled from scratch on the ps5 version of it now, as it plays the ps4 version fine, but doesn't let you load any previous saves up. Go on, roll another one on ps5. Then we can all start swapping pawns and gifts again and get the pawns maxed out

It is top fun isn't it Yeah, dark in this is *really* dark isn't it! I ran out of oil last night inside god knows where and got attacked by a griffin which was absolutely chaotic fun. It get's better later on and introduces stuff that only comes out at night etc. Regarding rift crystals, you will eventually start getting a fair bit, but the best way if you're after pawns is to grab them off people in your friends list as that's zero cost. Or just ping them a friend request stating what it's for, and they normally accept anyway. The price goes up as their pawn's level goes up - it's to stop a level 1 player hiring a level 250 pawn and breezing through it. Though if you have anyone in your friends list with a level 250 pawn, then it's no problem and you can breeze it if you want. By the time you're at that level, you'll have billions of rift crystals anyway. Add me if you want (quaddy456) and you can hire my pawn if you want. He's only level 19/20, and he's a mage that I've customised to buff first, attack second, and heal after every encounter (if it's required). May or may not be useful. The nights really to add the to the immersion. I only ended up in the woods as was legging it from the rock hard bandits in that area. Looking forward to progressing more as I've just started really, can see there being many comedy moments ahead. You do get a lot in this game don't you. I almost got one shot by an ogre who decided to slam himself into the ground backwards in response to me climbing up his back. Was a real 'ooof' moment. Thanks for the tips, I'll add you next time I get on I might respec my pawn as a warrior and hire yours then, as mine is currently a mage as well. But no idea what I've set his behavior as. I tried the chair of knowledge but not really sure what the different answers actually do. Mine seems to prefer picking up items a lot, which I don't mind as he is massive, and I didn't realize your size actually changes how much you can carry. I'm enjoying having a lot left to learn about the game. Currently just poking around in Gran Soren. I could probably progress the main quest by going up to the Duke's Castle but am happy looking around the city for now. Definitely glad I got this. I really want the rumors about a sequel/reboot in the RE engine to be true now.... edit - and thanks Witchking for your pawn code. I guess I can't use it if i'm on a different version of the game (PS4). Shame!

What's your character then, what have you got setup at the mo? I like the fact they pick everything up, saves me pissing about. I just choose a quiet minute to shift stuff about abs always use my pawn to store heavy stuff (I always make my pawns massive for this reason) I'd recommend pushing the main quests a bit at the start as it makes you go to places where there is pretty good stuff to get you going. But it's all fun, just piss about. I'm looking forward to a blast later now.

What PS5? I'm married with kids! I've no money! It took me over two years to save for my new TV!
I've got a Switch and that's it I'm afraid.
I do remember the days of having the latest console and the best tech... But that's all a long time ago.

Just battered a huge cyclops.
"I don't care to meet what left those giant footsteps behind"
We eh, Sally do you think that eh... You know what. Never mind.
"This looks interesting" Ragnar then says, as he picks up a rock.
Come along children.

I went to grab some box the other night, missed and had my Andre the Giant sized pawn hoisted over my shoulder instead. Needless to say I was over encumbered! I'll just got the Wyrm Hunter License so will start those quests next then. So my character is a level 20 fighter atm. I like being able to charge in and knock enemies over, but I've not picked up all the skills yet as was thinking of saving points for something like Assassin or Strider so I can use a bow. I've still got a quest to kill two seagulls and can't hit them as melee! Pawn is just a mage atm - around 20 as well. Just set up to do the fire buff, with a couple of upgraded damage skills and the healing one too. I couldn't really say how they are programmed as I had no idea what I was doing when I created it! He picks stuff up and heals in combat, I might want to change that somehow. It's great fun to muck about on, hoping to get on tonight.

I finished up last night going to meet the duke. It made me sack a quest off about collecting a herb from Witchwood but I didn't even know where that was so I couldn't be arsed. Did that grimoire one though, basically just killed every single bandit I could find.

Haha, yeah, I sometimes accidently pick them up too Ah cool, yes, the Wyrm hunt licence quests are pretty cool. Lol, I still have that bloody seagull quest too! Yeah, it's handy having at least someone doing ranged attacks. You could always flip to strider, piss about and flip back if you don't like it. Note - strider is very good with daggers and "not bad" with bows. Ranger is very good with bows and "not bad" with close combat skills. I just have one more vocation point in strider to get, and then I'm going to switch to ranger I think. I'll need a ranger bow too. Arse, forgot about that. More spenditure! That's pretty much near me - I think I'm about level 26 after last nights meandering about. Tbh, if your mage is picking stuff up, buffing your weapons, chucking the odd damage spell about and healing afterwards, that's pretty good. I think if you look at the stats menu (Whichever bloody menu that's in), it has a few pages where it lists what type of trait your pawn currently is. If you then piss about with the chair in the Inn, it should change it. Sometimes they're a bit stubborn about changing. Though later on if I remember correctly, there are certain potions that force a pawn to change to whatever trait you want. Basically, you just don't want the Guardian trait, as they just nurse you all the time and it's not much use.

Did that grimoire one though, basically just killed every single bandit I could find. Same, I got that quest sacked off too - but you go to Witchwood later anyway, so it's no biggie. If you're outside Gran Soren in the wild, and select the quests and then click "Show on map", it should zoom over to where you need to go. This doesn't work when you try it in Gran Soren - it'll just point to the main gate instead, which isn't much use. Do it outside. I did the Grimoire one last night too - I tried talking to the main bandit first to see if I could talk him around, but he told me to fuck off, but that's ok, because I know exactly where the Grimoire is, so simply nicked it

Ha yes I did the same. I went to the lady camp first but one of my pawns told me I needed to wear a dress to speak to them. As I didn't have a dress, I killed every single one of them instead.

Heh, that's why I thought I'd post it - it has some fairly useful info. It's also a useful screen to look at when you're hiring pawns as you can see all the spells, traits, equipment they have etc, so you can work out what type of style of play they'll use

I suppose I haven't thought too deeply about tactics yet as we seem to be wrecking everything we come across. Even the ogres. Not sure why, I've probably got an OP pawn in there somewhere, but when I hired two I made sure to get ones my level.

You just get into the swing of it after a while. It's only really the Guardian trait that you want to avoid - any other tactic is entirely up to you. I just go mad all the time. My vague plan is supporting the warrior by punching people in the face, taking out ranged mages and archers with the bow, and keeping an eye on my main pawn as he's the healer. The warrior looks after herself, but sometimes have to help the sorcerer out now and again. That's about it really.
Also, you know you can combine stuff at the Inn? All that random shit you're finding - keep it, because it's either a) useable in weapon upgrades at the shop, or b) craftable with other items to create all kinds of stuff.
And unlike other games, upgrading weapons and armour actually makes a difference in this game.

Just fired up my switch version of this. Level 54 ranger and 54 Healer pawn called Vyrty. Looks like I've already done the main dragon as half my stuff is dragon-forged. I appear to be in bitterblack isle and surrounded by what sounds like a right nasty bastard

Stop bumping this. Keeps popping up on sale at a ridiculous price, and I don't want to end up buying it and abandoning it after a few hours when the familiarity creeps in. But yes, it's great. Wasn't keen on the absolutely cryptic quests at times, but the design towards quick multiple playthroughs certainly helped if you missed anything. Speaking of ridiculous prices, £6.59 on Xbone at the moment.

Absolute bedlam in the Shadow Fortress last night. Complete darkness with hordes of angry goblins, fire raining down from above, screaming pawns, screaming pawns on fire, hulking beasts tossing pawns around like rag dolls, hulking beasts on fire. I could go on.
Standard night on DD, def worth the £6.58.
