Danno Not as far as I know. Just that stone thing or trudge towards your destination. That's why I'm quite glad the world doesn't seem Skyrim size. Unless I'm wrong and you can ride a giant chicken or something later on. Portcrystals and Ferrystones are the fast travel methods in this, though Portcrystals were pretty rare if I remember correctly. Some were fixed and others you could pick up and place them somewhere else. Portcrystals could be purchased in NG+ for a v.high price too. Ferrystones were more common, and are required to actually teleport to a Portcrystal.

There's a way to sort of do fast travel later. Basically, there's a few items that you can scatter about and then you can travel to those. There's not many, so you have to put them in strategic places so you can hop about
Oo, mines finished reinstalling

If you have the DLC version, (dark arisen), you can use the permanent ferrystone - so you don't have to keep finding them - it's resuable over and over

This game really rewards building up a character. It's been a loooong time since I played this, but from what I remember it's actually a good idea to switch to different classes at times and stay with that class for a while, as you can hoover up some passive skills and stat gains that can still be used by your main chosen class and then the advanced classes. Same for your pawn too! I had a Mystic Knight character by the end of the main game who then went through Bitterblack Isle, and he was pretty bloody powerful. The main move for Mystic Knight was he could summon orbs of different elemental types, that you then hit with your weapon and they fly out everywhere doing a crazy amount of damage. As these were magic abilities and I'd started as a warrior, I think I spent a fair bit of time earlier in the game switched to a Mage, or maybe a sorcerer, or perhaps it was both(!?), to get the necessary magic gains. Yeah, I remember a youtube video years ago with this guy playing a maxed out mystic knight, and basically, I couldn't even see what was going on - he had that much magic stuff flying all over the shop, and it was hilarious watching all the monsters getting pinged left right and centre, flying off the screen. I should really try it out. Ha, yeah Mystic Knight was awesome. Lots and lots of frantic button presses to pepper those magic orbs all over the place though, at the time I swear my right thumb was near wrecked by the end of Bitterblack Isle, it took a few weeks to recover 😀. Even though I loved the Mystic Knight, if I played again I'd work towards a decent Magick Archer build. At high levels they were insanely, ridiculously powerful and could wreck the end boss of Bitterblack.

I'll take a placeable ferrystone over a giant chicken any day actually.

I've replayed this quite a few times but never managed to finish the dlc. Got quite far into it but never got to the end.

I picked up the PS4 version last year. Since it was a second playthrough (I had the PS3 version prior to this), I just went straight into the Bitterblack Isle dungeon and its great.
The downside; it overlevels you for the rest of the game, since you get so much extra exp. due to the higher difficulty. Still as a second run that's not a dealbreaker if you just want a challenging dungeon crawl.

Well, shit. The ps5 doesn't load the old the save game from the PS4.
So it's either a) start again, or b) fire it up on the PS4 on a much, much smaller telly.
Hm. Bugger.

Haha definitely could try it.
Just tried the PS4 version on the little telly downstairs, and it's all fired up ok. Save is at bitterblack isle as I thought it might be. Just accidentally ordered my pawns to go and investigate the area by mistake getting used to the buttons again!
I'll have a quick go on it later and see how it feels. Totally stuck on axiom verge at the moment anyway.

A small telly can be negated by pressing your face up against the screen. Instant I-Max.
You're welcome.

It's ok, I just need a few beers to not give a shit about the telly. Unfortunately, I've had far more than that. So, erm, here goes

Only kidding guys I love you really. Even you Ragnar, despite you just grabbing my kindling.
I do pretty much feel like a nursery school teacher on a day trip though.

I couldn't decide what to do, so had a go on the PS4 with the main character, but couldn't see the screen very well, so thought fuck it, and rolled a new strider on the ps5

Yeah, I've already created him, with the comedy moustache again. Made him massive so he can carry all the shit, and made him a chaotic behaving mage to buff + heal. He's available now if anyone is starting again but it's probably best if everyone does their own pawns obviously for a while before the buffoonery can start. I'll leave the ps4 version save for now - I can always go back to it - as I think I'll enjoy the starting areas again this time. Especially with the permanent ferrystone. I know where to go so I'll see if I can power level my way through it.
I've already nicked two friends pawns at a much higher level, as I want to get through it fairly quickly this time round.

I've reloaded this and fired it up. Had no clue at all what I was doing nor where I was. Somehow stumbled into a Cyclops and then a Griffin who seemed to have taken up with some outlaws. Managed to kill them all without really a clue and apparently finished a quest.
Really not got a clue. I've still got my pawns and it seems I'm a mage at the moment. Not sure what that's all about.

Haha, that's exactly what I was like when I fired up my old save. Bitterblack isle and obviously encountered death. Twice, I might add. The bellend. Anyway,I can see myself getting sucked into this newly rolled strider. I've already got the quest for the stilleto daggers so I'm set!

My last build on this was a mystic knight. You have to start as a mage till about level 20, then level up fighter I think. It takes a while but is definitely worth it in the end. Those magic orbs can be placed several times. Ace three of them close together and you can keep hitting them all over and over causi g loads of magic orbs to fire at enemies. You can deal out loads of damage even in Bitterback Isle.

Aaaand it looks like I'm addicted to this again. It does help that I've got overpowered pawns to help, plus I can vaguely remember where I'm going, but the new strider is just too irresistible to ignore. Again.
At Gran Soren, just picking up the quests.
Also, Wunty - have you checked your storage inventory? If you have the DLC (Dark Arisen) version, you should have some half decent kit in your storage, along with an eternal ferrystone. Highly useful items.
I'm level 10 already! Vyrt is coming along nicely. Hasn't fallen off a cliff yet either.

I've just been cramming everything into my pockets and I'm now wading through treacle.
