Red Eye - ITVX
It's equally great and trash. Man gets renditioned back to China for something he didn't do, then shenanigans happen on the flight. It's got MI5/6, CIA, Chinese secret services, the top gear test track, an actor who was born to play Liz Truss playing Lizz Truss but with another name. The writer doesn't mess around and the action moves at a pace.+

I only watched 1 or 2 episodes of Bluey, and it seemed like a very generic kids cartoon in the same vein as Hey Duggee, Peppa Pig and dozens of others. Weird it seems to have developed this cult status. Hey Duggee was fun in a weird relaxing 'watching teletubbies while wasted as a student' way. It’s definitely not that. There are a few episodes like that but there are a lot that are a lot more than that. Hey Duggee is pretty good, especially when it goes weird but it’s no Bluey. Yeah bluey is another level. Truly brilliant for adults and kids

Great writing for kids and adults, good messages and funny moments. Tackles big issues in ways that children can understand. I think the fact it can teach parents and kids at the same time is a big plus. Shows like peppa pig/cocomelon are junk food. Whilst blueys not higher education lol I have no issues with it being on and happy the kids will be getting something good from it. I would genuinely watch it if the kids weren't home and a new one was released.

Yeah, Bluey operates perfectly on a fun adventure for the kids level but also has episodes that have a real level of emotional intelligence, and then there are ones which are about parenting too.
Ones like Baby Race or Mum School probably good examples of parenting literate ones. Maybe Sleepytime too.
Then you’ve got the grannies who are just consistently funny nonsense. Seen so many kids roleplay as them and its always hilarious when they do.

I wish I’d have thought of Cocomelon. Nursery rhymes over the most amateurish CG graphics you can find >>> profit.

Cocomelon is terrible. It’s gets worse in later series when they make up more of their own songs that are shit. With some shows the day the kids stopped asking for them were good days.
To get an idea of why Bluey is great, try the space episode where Bingo is dreaming.

There’s also a non-Wheeler family episode called Space that revolves around Bluey’s classmate Mackenzie attempting to come to terms with feelings of abandonment. I’m welling up now just thinking about it.

Or the one where the Aunt can’t have children. That one went way over the kids heads.

The flatpack evolution one is a beautiful piece of work.
My son’s current favourites are Dragon the one which is told through all of their drawings and Cubby where they build the giant pillow fort.

Shogun 10/10 Agree with the above. It’s one of the best things I’ve seen for a long time, loved all of it. I appreciated them going all in with it in Japanese too, and forced me to focus on just this when watching. Thirded. Absolutely superb. The consistency across the season was remarkable but I've got to say the penultimate episode may be one of the best hours of TV I've ever seen. 10/10 Yeah jiust finished this last night and couldn't agree more. Episode nine was amazing TV.

My personal favorite is "takeaway" should be shown at Antenatal classes in my opinion. 10 minutes of how it feels to be a parent.

Family favourites are: - absolutely anything with Muffin, such as Pizza Girls, Faceytalk and especially especially especially Granny Mobile - Cafe, Dirt, Octopus and Army for the way they show how people are different and complex - the sort of set piece episodes that build up to a climax, like Calypso, Sleepytime, Handstand, Bike, Takeaway, and Ice Cream - and loads more
But... Cricket is God tier.

Reacher S2 - A solid 8/10 Me and my youngest son (16) loved S1 and, while this is not as good as that, we both enjoyed this a lot. It was a bit (too) predictable (S1 kept you guessing longer), but I LOL-ed at the unexpected airbag scene

Loudermilk S3 - FIVE FUCKING STARS!!!
Well, more like four. It's criminal that this didn't get a proper ending, but it'll have to do. Great cast and some real emotional moments along the way (surprisingly even from Muggsy)

Ripley 9/10 Andrew Scott is fantastic in this very slow paced telling of the story. So many shows feel stretched out and have loads filler but this didn’t even if it is glacially slow. Simple 10 minute conversations are usually very tense or intriguing and it all looks beautiful.
I’d be happy with more, but ok if that’s it too. Feels like one that’ll be a good rewatch in a couple of years already.

Spaced
Its my favourite sitcom and still basically makes me feel like I did first watching in my late teens. Although now I envy their freedom because adult life has robbed me of it rather than envying it because I still lived with my parents and hadn’t yet achieved it.
There’s just something about characters who spend their time playing Resident Evil all night and reading 2000ad comics that feels very relatable to me for some reason.

Dead Boy Detectives - Season 1 Snazzy title sequence.
I would say the first episode suffers from some pacing issues, but I'm glad I perservered through it because the second one was a hell of a lot better. It's not as instantly enthralling as The Sandman was, but as an expansion of that universe it's pretty good, and is at it's best so far when it's embracing creative weirdness. The second episode leans into this a lot more heavily than the first. A lot. It's given me "Season 1 of Doom Patrol" vibes.
It mostly maintains the same level throughout, while occasionally veering into some pretty dark stuff regarding abuse.
Also, quite quotable. "It would be a shame if dandelions exploded out of your face, 'cos you know what, I think your face is pretty mint."
As far as it's connection to The Sandman show goes, they did advertise that Death would appear in it, but she's not the only one of The Endless to show up.
It also seems extremely unfair to other shows that everyone in this is just absolutely fucking gorgeous. I didn't even know Kaley Cuoco had a sister.

I already miss everything about it. Except for Cosmo Jarvis on a gap year.

Makes me laugh when people say the entire cast deserve all the awards. I assume they must mean the entire cast apart from him.

On the subject of kids TV shows our little one is only two but her favourite seems to be Twirlywoos... All of them.
Bluey she will watch but it doesn't seem to hold her attention and Bing is awful. He's a little shit who doesn't speak properly.
I can deal with most of it but Nick Cope's Popcast is proper shite.
As for us we have just finished Season 1 of Blue Lights on iplayer. It's excellent.

I have to admit that when Mr Tumble turns up that’s when it’s time to suggest going outside / having a nap / reading a book / slamming my nuts in the door.

I don't know what it is, but the south west accent in anything always makes me smile.

Quite enjoyed that episode of Bluey. Not enough to watch it all, but I can definitely see what all the fuss is about now.
