He started the fire the first time (with his lightsaber), then blew it out with the force when he told the troopers to bring him.
Why he couldn't just blow out the second fire the way he did the first, I don't know. Maybe his force meter had run out and he had to wait until it recharged.

Maybe it took him by surprise and he had flashbacks to being barbecued.

How is it possible that two people don’t bump into each other in a network of tunnels shouldn’t be an issue, surely? I thought the third sister realised where the tunnels went and instead went around to the other side? Unless i wasn't paying attention, there was no indication she went in and directly followed Leia through the tunnel. That is entirely plausible also. So she could have taken a different route through the tunnels or went round them. I don’t see why people assume that there is only one route?

Re the fire - Maybe Vader decided to let Kenobi go, knowing he would always have to be looking over his shoulder until the next time Vader/ The Empire or Inquisitors track him down? It really isn’t explained, and it is one of the scenes that really doesn’t work because of it.

I had it that for all the bravado, liging in the fucking temple of doom etc- he's still fairly crippled by the sight / feeling of being around fire.
I was pleasantly surprised by their build up of Vader, that whole walk through the village was tense as fuck. It could be quite easy for them to have all Vader all the time, just going nuts. But seeing them treat his character with respect and be relatively restrained was good.
Also the less Reva talks, the more I enjoy her on screen. She was actually tolerable.

Watching the first ep. Third Sister is hilariously at odds with the acting and restraint of all the other cast. I don't know if it's the directing or her acting but it's jarring.
Little Leia is pretty good but I really don't want more intergalactic trade shit.

Little Leia needs a damn good telling off and some solid boundaries putting in place, sheesh.

One thing that’s gently nagging me, and forgive me if this has already been discussed:
If L & L are ten now, and…I’ve always thought…about twenty in ANH, haven’t Ben, Vader and Owen got a hell of a lot of ageing to do in just ten years?

You do have to question the writing in these shows. The river of fire thing just doesn’t make sense. All they had to do was have the exploding machinery throwing Vader to the ground. He wasn’t expecting it, so would have worked. Could have had a nice close up of Vader with a cracked visor showing Hayden’s hatred filled eye. Troopers could have run over to help him up, and he fucks them up for daring to touch him. All the while Ben makes his escape. That’s just off the top of my head. It’s not that difficult to at least try to make situations make sense. There’s a real ‘that’ll do’ feeling to the writing.
Seeing Vader somewhere else other than an Imperial ship/base was cool though.

Ewan Macgregor is 50. Alec Guinness was around 61 or 62 I think when filming ANH so... ten years makes sense.

Actor-wise I agree - I was thinking more about how the characters actually look. Ben, in particular, looks more elderly to me.

What Wunty said and also there's probably some in-universe excuse that a combination of Tatooine's harsh climate, him worrying about Luke (presumably even more so after whatever is revealed throughout this series) and any number of Force connection stuff to Vader, innocents dying etc wore him down faster in the years between Kenobi-New Hope than between Revenge of the Sith-Kenobi. Now if you're asking why all of that didn't affect him nearly as much in the ten years prior to this, well... It's not entirely unbelievable, some people just age rapidly in the span of a few years after being untouched for decades, but he could probably do with at least some slight aging 😅

I don't know. Looking at him in Revenge of the Sith, to this, and then to Alec Guiness in ANH. It's not that much of a stretch tbh. Continuity wise he looks about right in each stage.

I gave it a go after watching the last episode of series 1 Mandalorian yesterday
It was ok, again like all Disney SW nothing special about it, the snippets of the prequels were actually the most impactful scenes
The Third Sister is awful, completely at odds with the world she’s supposed to be in. The inquisitors in general are laughable though, not menacing at all - more like silly clowns in a circus
It’s only McGregor that’s any good but he can’t save it from mediocrity

the ages seem all out of whack to me, but people claim they kinda add up. Maybe it's just that I can't accept McGregor being 50.

Of what I've seen, the lead Inquisitor is a Hellraiser knockoff, the other one is Raiden and the Third Sister is fucking terrible casting/ acting/ directing.

Liking it so far. And actually having Vader kill a kid (one of his favourite pastimes apparently) puts him soundly back in the villain category instead of anti-hero.
It's also the first (and I assume) only time Vader bests Obi-wan in a fight.
I did fear that when they said the pilot was waiting for them it would turn out to be Han Solo, but hopefully those fan service moments are gone in this series...
I think it will be inevitable that Obi-wan reconnects with the force but I would like a repeat of the transport scene with stormtroopers where instead of lying he just mind tricks them.

I don't think the third sister is bad at all, she is focused, ruthless and driven by something? Was she one of the younglings from the opening scene? Maybe DV is enjoying toying with Obi-Wan so let him go? don't know enough about drama to know if we should be guessing or not worrying to much about details like this.

Done the first three. Never been a huge Star Wars fan anyway. Assume Third Sister will turn good and help Kenobi to disappear but not sure I have the energy to continue. How many episodes are there?

I'll wait for the rest to drop, then. Have they just pivoted all the movies they were producing to TV shows?

It's very difficult for me to overlook the tunnel teleporting/fire/running about and weirdly erratic fight scenes. Its all summed up on that link on the previous page.
It's frustrating they go to all that effort to make Darth and the Empire imposing and scary only to have it undone by lazy writing that makes them look like bumbling fools.
There's squads of stormtroopers looking for a Jedi (and presumably a little girl.) They encounter a lone man and a little girl and it's OK his flimsy story checks out. Back to base before searching for that darn Jedi!
It's pretty and it's Star Wars but the writing is poor.

So the person who knows the tunnel system and is in a hurry to get to the ship as quickly as possible decided to take the scenic route rather than the direct tunnel? It was just bad writing. Really bad.
