I had no problem at all with the Third Sister, she struck me as suitably mean and menacing. All in all I liked what I saw, but I've definitely had my fill of the Leia plotline for now. Seemed like they were done with it at least. Anyone else think that the prequel summary/prologue is now arguably the best way to actually "watch" those films?

The opening scene, with actual people in actual clone trooper suits
Imagine that they did this with prequels.

I was thinking actually, they looked really good, does anyone know how they made it?; I know they filmed the prequels with digital cameras but obviously not a 4k. I've never watched the prequels on Blu-ray (nor will I ever), did they look good? I do remember the sound on revenge of the sith was very good indeed and a show off for surround systems.

Makes sense if he already knew he was Lord Vader - I was going solely on the recap showing him getting the Darth moniker after the BBQ. I'm not sure it does make that much sense though does it? I know he's been living in a cave for 10 years, but you would have thought that he would have heard around town that a 7 foot tall bad ass called Darth Vader was murdering all the Jedi? I mean he's not exactly subtle is he? Probably best not to think about it too much I suppose. I got the impression (from the show) that no-one on Tatooine knows there even is a seven foot tall badass dude involved. That the Inquisitors are like the Emperor's anti-Jedi police force. Especially if you have been living in a cave. But you're right in that it only kinda makes sense. By the time of ANH you get the impression that everyone knows who Vader is, and they're all afraid of him. I'm interested to know whether his identity is common knowledge. Obviously Luke and Leia didn't know who he was, presumably Han too. So is the Third Sister privy to inside info? Do all the Inquisitors know? Or did the galaxy all just collectively forget, the way The Mandalorian makes the Jedi seem like ancient history?

The third sister clearly does know...
I enjoyed the first two. Surprisingly so.

Unless he’s been sat in the Bacta tank, taking it easy. It just doesn’t gel with the ‘wretched hive of scum and villainy’ that Tatooine is supposed to be. Everyone would know who Vader the Emperor’s Hand is. Maybe he just forgot the CCTV conversation. 😜

The dude in the meeting on the death star didn't seem to know much about him, or be that afraid of him. This is the risk of filling in all the gaps. It often makes less sense the closer you look at it, or simply doesn't live up to what you'd imagined in your head. I never really gave much thought to whether Leia had met Obi-wan or not. She seemed more aware of his reputation than anything. They could fill it in either way, but I'm not sure I want them to.

Random guess, maybe while Obi-Wan did know that Anakin is Vader he expected the Inquisitors to only know him as Vader, and his shock was something between "Wait, the Emperor told them he's Anakin??" and "Or wait, did she grab that from my brain??"
Either that or, while he knew Anakin is Vader he actually didn't realise he was still alive, because even if news did reach Tatooine (which is not a given beyond vague rumours, as much of a wretched hive it is it's also an extremely backwater and isolated planet), at that point Obi-Wan both lived as a hermit, interacting with nobody (so he likely didn't hear the rumours anyway) and had mostly cut himself off from the Force like Luke in the Last Jedi, to try and hide better (so he couldn't have sensed Vader earlier, either)...

Yeah. I took it to mean he thought Anakin died on Mustafar after their fight.

Which wouldn't be a weird assumption tbh, the guy was already down a limb from Count Dooku, then got Malenia'd plus cooked well done in Mustafar

Done the two eps. I thought it was great, didn’t realise how much I liked Ewan in the role.

We’ve watched both now, and we’re all really enjoying it.
Again, I’m easily pleased and less critical than most, but, all in all, it’s Star Wars and I like it.

I watched them both a second time and went from hating them to enjoying them (the odd silly chase scene aside). Maybe watching again without expectations helped me appreciate them more. McGregor is good.
Looking forward to next episode, although I hope li'l Leia will be ditched (although the actress did well).

If IMDB is correct about the number of episodes people are in then you might be disappointed.

I don't know the deep lore or anything but there were very few people who knew he was Anakin, like Tarkin one of the very few people that figured it out. Apparently its a big no-no that she knows who he is and very much against whats been established. She's also a dreadful actor imo.

Sure but my point is that Ben knew that Anakin was Vader. And I think it is a bit of a stretch that he doesn't know about this 7 foot tall killing machine who has been murdering Jedi for a decade. It seems like something that would have appeared on his radar.

She's also a dreadful actor imo. Agreed. Looks the part, looks really good in fact, but the acting was pish. Which is a shame. I was aghast when She skewered the Grand Inquisitor as that guy was pretty damn great

It’s really a stretch that he might not know of him.

"Tatooine is supposed to be about as far away from anything that happens as possible" Yeah if there's one thing we know about Tatooine, it's that nothing ever happens there... I mean, does anything happen there? The only thing that drives the Empire to actually establish a presence there is the pod with R2 and 3PO crashing there, and that happens a good decade after the events in Kenobi so far... Before that, Tatooine is about as backwards of a planet as you can get (uninhabited planets like Dagobah notwithstanding). Luke even tells 3PO "Well, if there's a bright center to the universe, you're on the planet that it's farthest from." Just because it happens to have story beats important to us happen there (and even then, many years pass between Anakin leaving, Anakin coming back, Luke being taken there and so on) doesn't make it a well-known planet in-universe (and by the time Jabba starts figuring into the story Ben has met Vader face to face and also died, so...)

And there being a crime Lord like Jabba there is going to be fairly minor in the grand scheme of the universe, even if that’s something we saw.
Obi Wan and Luke are there but only because nothing happens there. It’s not like either are actually doing anything which is going to get noticed at this point of the Star Wars universe.
It would be nice if the film/TV makers could use the rest of the universe that’s supposed to be action packed but maybe that’ll happen one day.

A backwards planet with a shitload of dodgy and incredibly busy spaceports where people might pass on news about a terrifying Sith Lord and his mission to exterminate the Jedi. Oh and by the way, he was born here!
Anyway, we’re clearly not going to convince each other. To be honest I was more bothered by the slapstick kiddy chase sequences. I hope the young Luke actor can actually run. 🙂

As most people are in denial about the Jedi existing out of fear from the Sith propaganda machine, it is more at odds that people on a backwater planet are aware of the Inquisitors, Jedi and Vader.

Not to derail too much, but it is absolutely pathetic and expected that Reva's actor has gotten racist and sexist abuse. So much so Ewan had to address the fans about it. But then he's seen it with a preteen Jake Lloyd. Did this to Ahmed Best. To Hayden. Nevermind those in the sequel trilogy. SW fandom is one of the worst

Tonight’s big groan was grown women somehow teleporting past each other in a tunnel, neither running into each other and somehow leapfrogging Leia.
