Apparently performance mode is 1080p, with reduced details and noticeable shimmer. This seems to be a slightly worrying development, another game that needs to run at quarter resolution and lower details to hit double the frame rate. CPU issue maybe?

I got it (the original, for clarity's sake) on super sale for like £7.99 including the DLC (which I didn't play) and I'm not remotely interested in going back to it. I might get the new one when it's cheap, too. Yep, I got exactly the same deal. I even tucked it away until the inevitable 60fps surprise update dropped, and it still wasn't enough to make me care about playing any more of it after a few hours. |

Who is this Worlds and why do people seem to be quite mean to them. Most others are either woke Ah, now I understand. (Also, I'm very used to digital for PC games, but console space I still end up going physical quite regularly, as the price difference is ridiculous. I only buy digital on sale. I can't see me wanting to go only digital until we start seeing other options for digital stores away from the console maker, so some actual competition happens.) I thought the first was okay, but my suckage of aiming with a controller meant I struggled with its heavy reliance of hitting weakspots. The world was nice and I liked Aloy, but it was also full of the usual open world tedium of lots of uninteresting side quests and checkbox activities to complete. Didn't actually finish the first one and should really go back to it. Should probably just stick it on an easier difficult and beeline the main story missions. |

DL2 I could understand as it's their first game for new consoles and it's clearly not well optimised. A PlayStation studio resorting to 1080p so soon is pretty fucking lame, though.

The pop-in from Skill-up's video was also pretty atrocious. Honestly the visuals seem less polished then the original which used a base PS4...
I think somewhere in the development the scaling from PS4 to PS5 while increasing fidelity led to certain bottlenecks similar to the pc-port. Maybe some get patched out in a couple of months?

Yep just checked a YouTube channel and in the comparisons it 60fps 1800p and 4k 30fps.

It being a PS4 game too, it would be pretty shocking if it were only 1080p on current machines.
Hopefully it's in line with God of War PS5, which looked excellent (although the checkerboard 4k made smoke effects look pretty naff)

Yeah I would have been massively surprised to see a first party studio do 1080p 60. From what I saw of the comparison between resolution and fps mode is difference in particles, draw distance and reflections and no version has any ray tracing. Essentially the game was made specifically for 30fps but I think most people will do performance mode.

It was ACG, just rechecking now to make sure I can actually read... ah, there is actually a correction in the video title which I hadn't seen.
As the smarter and more handsome people in this thread have pointed out, it is actually 1800p (not actually a thing, but I digress) in performance mode.

Apparently there is a day one patch that sorts lot of the pop up.
Think I'll wait for the price drop before I pick this up, I seem to have less and less time to play at the moment, God damn kids ruining my life.

I was going to pick this up later due to Elden Ring coming out the following week. Sounds like a good thing to do as it sounds like a couple of patches are required. Its just a pity they didn't make it PS5 only but from a business perspective, understandable.

Wasn't Returnal, an actual honest-to-goodness next-gen only PS5 title, running at 1080p internal res upscaled to 1440p with TAA or something? Consoles gonna console - 60fps with all (or even most of) the trimmings anywhere near 4K was always a bit of a pipe dream.  |

ACG and Skill Up reviews have me once again hyped for a game I wasn't planning on getting any time soon. Did enjoy the first one and this looks to be a fairly big step up.

I think I'm going to have to get it. Loved the first one. Was putting it off because of the price but I can get the ps4 version for £50 and then it's a free upgrade to ps5. Hmm. Just dished out for elden ring but equally I have some weeks off work now, so....
