I don't think I've changed the graphics mode. So whatever is the default has been working fine for me.
I see an occasional glitch after fast-travelling to a campfire. The sky renders with an obvious vertical line bisecting two mis-matching cloud textures. It fades away within seconds and doesn't affect gameplay, and my name is not Stevas so I can cope with it.
I am still very much enjoying the game. I've been completing lots of side-quests along the way and am currently working through the Arena.
While this is open-world in a similar vein to Far Cry it is sooooo much more fun to play. I think it's the variety of weapons and enemies.

I went with performance. There's a noticeable step up in quality mode, when stood still, as soon as you start moving it goes pretty choppy and the graphics don't look as good.
Stood still it really is pretty though. And obviously still amazing to look at in performance mode.
I wish more Devs outside of the Sony ones would put as much effort into haptics. Can't think of many 3rd party games that bother much outside of triggers.

I play it on quality. There seems to be a thing that if you're playing it on an OLED it plays all juddery in quality. I'm not so it's all smooth. Performance I couldn't do as it's still incredibly soft with all the checkerboard rendering.

Yeah, I could accept the fps drop but it's far too juddery. It's like the scenery is jumping up and down each time you turn the screen.

Interestingly I've read that Sony have gone all in on this and as well as the VR game, there's going to a third game as well as DLC that is specifically themed around the Monster Hunter aspect which this game is clearly inspired by.

A saw a video that adds up all the cut scenes and talky bits and it comes to 14 hours. That's my biggest criticism of the game.

All cutscenes, or just the mandatory ones to complete the story. Because there's a lot of filler to tell a story. I like it to an extent, but it does sometimes over labour the point. Such as times in the Base where you talk to each character about how thy are getting on with each other.

Yeah, side quests had ridiculous amounts of talking, so I can definitely see it hitting that kind of time. I skipped through a lot of them and got a bit bored of pressing the skip button on a few of them.

I skipped one set of dialog and it doesn't seem to have upset my enjoyment of the game.
But equally, I like the depth they've put into it. The attempt to build a real story, with characters that have something to say, and different tribal cultures.

I’m still on a 1080p tv, so it’s performance all the way.
I’ve found myself pretty frustrated with the game. The menus, inventory, skills, combat, all seem way to complicated and annoyingly inflexible. Also, Aloy seems to get stuck on every piece of scenery during combat, by which I mean rocks not even ankle-high, those twigs you collect, whatever else.
I turned the difficulty down from hard to normal and it’s a little better, but I’m definitely finding it so much harder to engage with than the first game. Little things like limiting how many potions you can hold or traps set, the weirdly difficult to decipher dpad quick menu (I MAY have finally figured out how to stop my limited potion numbers filling up with non-healing shit I can’t easily get rid of, but let’s see.) the difficulty for me is mostly that I’m wrestling with the various interfaces that have been changed for no reason, as if they asked the Windows team to help out with design.

Yeah the d pad set up is weird. Sounds ridiculous but I only figured out how to actually use potions after about 80% of the game was done and never really worked out how to restock stuff. I also never used a trap after the tutorial.

Yep. That menu was absolute bullshit. Pretty much constantly kept it on the mount option and only used potions accidentally a couple of times throughout the game when it inexplicably changed it from summoning my mount. Traps felt pointless as soon as you get the trapcaster.
Special moves were also a bit shit to use.

Me either. Partly because this game is the definition of ‘everyone has a plan until they hit you in the face’ and partly because the mini gun loaded with the right ammo and the weapon skill that unloads the entire clip stuns most things in one salvo anyway.

I just use the spear chucker and nothing else.
I am near the end and like others have never used a trap, a potion or anything from that dpad menu as I can't figure it out.
I also get often frustrated as she either glues herself to a ledge and refuses to jump, or walk off to her death at random. Snagging on scenery and camera behind bushes is also annoying.

I'm about 10 hours in and yeah this game is not as good as HZD (which is probably one of my top 10 goats). I guess the graphics and facial animation are better, but everything else seems worse. Coming back to it after Elden Ring has really not done it any favours either. The music in particular is awful. Aloy seems really unlikeable to me now. I'll keep playing just to see where the story goes, and maybe it will win me over.

So I switched to quality mode with motion blur turned off because I'm a filthy graphics whore.
All the shinies.

Well, I use traps so nerrr! Plus I chuck a rock occasionally. Most often when doing rebel outposts/bases.
However, I rarely remember to eat food or drink potions.

Yeah, when you have a reserve of like 500 berries, potions dont really feel like they are worth the busy work to make.

Yeah, when you have a reserve of like 500 berries, potions dont really feel like they are worth the busy work to make. Plus they are slower to take - berries are pretty much instant. Once you've upgraded that pouch to max it does the job.

I am finding the combat quite shit.
I am mostly always either fighting the camera, getting stuck in scenery or both.
Using ranged attacks are usually sabotaged by robots making apparently physical impossible and utterly cheesy leaps where they go from the barely on the horizon to immediately in your face.
Once they're in your face, see camera and getting stuck problems.
Trying to be stealthy is shit because it's far too easy to get found and once you are found it's just chaos and and you just end up running like a twat.
I think the problem I have is Ghost of Tsushima did the type of combat this game tries to do just so well, this feels clumsy and shit in comparison.

Plus you could have a toilet break and make a cup of tea in the time it takes her to stand back up after being knocked down. Definitely a part of the MH homage that I could've done without!

Oh fuck yes. I'd forgotten about that.
You feel as if there is an intricate and interesting combat mechanic in there, but they completely ballsed it up by not apparently caring if it was any fun.

I think the jumping thing is an overreaction to everything being pretty useless at middle distance in the first one. The tracking is laughably bad at times. You often see them bending around corners to hit you like a homing missile

Whoever decided to have square as crouch needs shooting. My muscle memory won't ever get used to it.

In Elden Ring clicking the left stick makes you jump off your horse rather than make it run. I'd say I jump off the horse in error around 3 times an hour.

That's just unnecessary, it doesn't even make sense to have that button to dismount a horse.
I'm still pressing R1 to jump in this after playing Dying Light 2 recently as well.
Oh, and this game is the best use I've of HDR I've seen. One you go into the caves or it turns to night the game looks incredible.

I feel like it’s essential to have L3 dismount the horse in ER because there’s so many times you need to quickly jump off in attack, at different angles, whilst looking around.

I’ve never seen a single fish in this game. They were abundant in the first game. In this one, there’s little “graphics” fish (in the same way there are butterflies or something) but no fish you can actually catch. Rivers and streams and bodies of water appear to be lifeless.
And yet the pouch upgrades call for all manner of fish parts. So it’s like we have extra bloat from added complication to the upgrades collectible shit, but the upgrades get stalled because there’s no fucking fish anywhere.

There's loads of them in the sea in the far south. But yeah, none in rivers that I spotted.
