What Dfunked said. It's clearly tells you which version do you want to download when you want to install. Sony's upgrade stuff is shit, but let's not make a mountain out of an ant hill. I made a minor post saying it is a pain. I didn't kick off or anything. I genuinely could not see a ps5 version to download, it only offered me the ps4 version at the start. Unless I missed something. Still a pain anyway. |

It's easier on the app, but if you press the ... option on PS5 and select version, one of those should be PS5. Even if it doesn't show as Purchased, it should show as free. Just for future reference.  |

The point, really, is we shouldn’t even be having this conversation. It should have been a flat price for both and not hidden in the PS5 store front. It’s just a faff for the sake of tricking, apparently, 70% of buyers into paying more than they needed to.

What upsets me about the Horizon upgrade situation is Sony having a hissy fit with the whole "okay, we heard you, but this is THE LAST TIME we do free upgrades" spiel.

Some people just want the PS5 logo on their shelf of games and didn't want to faff with a nearly 100GB download.
Not that I'm defending Sony. They've handled this cross gen price increase terribly.

While I think Sony should have equalised the prices considering it was a “free” upgrade, I am quite happy that I bought the PS5 Special Edition. I was already paying over the standard price for the steelbook, art book and soundtrack, so it didn't really bother me.
But yeah, for digital versions, it’s pretty sharp practice to have two prices and not show the cheaper one in your store if buying on PS5.

Really enjoying this so far - the world is so rich and vibrant it encourages you to really take your time exploring. I'm at the base and have (as far as I know) done all the sidequests available. They really are a big leap in quality over the original.
It also feels like the human characters and enemies and far less identikit this time. The improved facial expressions helps, but also the variety in tribes/costumes.
I've not had too many bugs so far but did have to restart a particularly lengthy and tricky mission after it refused to acknowledge I was standing in the right place to trigger the cutscene. That was proper annoying.

Generally probably not a lot, yeah I think the Souls game are popular but outside of the faithful how many people will bounce off the ever present difficulty of a Souls game within a week and go back to the other games they were playing?

I'd say a fucking huge proportion of players will drop it tomorrow. It's been hyped to buggery and those review scores will attract brand new players who just won't get it...
Not me, though. I'm not even starting it tomorrow, I'll just start and quit some other day instead.
Can't remember the game that I played recently but it had been out a while and wasn't especially tricky, but even so, completion for story trophies/achievements were less than a quarter after a certain point. An 80+ hour From game? Lolz!

I will stick to this. As much as this forum is hyping me for Elden Ring, I know deep down that I'd only get a couple of hours into it before I rage quit. Don't need to pay full price for that when I'm enjoying Horizon and have Gran Turismo to look forward to soon.

After a handful of hours of this last night (I'm level 11 now, just met Zo) I'm liking it a lot. It's basically just HZD 1.5, with some improvements and some of the same jank. It is beautiful, even with the shimering, which I'm finding very minor and easy to ignore but it'll be nice if they can improve it. The world is fantastic and the lighting is really nice. The Decima engine really does beautiful landscape geometry.
I really hate Aloy though, her voice and cadence is still really fucking annoying. I don't really rate Ashly Burch's VO delivery at all.

My "goal" is to reach end credits in any game I start, I am better at abandoning the tripe now though, not perfect but certainly better. As for Cheveo's/trophies I'm happy to pop them but overall they mean very little to me...in saying that it does irk me that Nintendo do not "reward" me/my time for reaching certain goals in their games. I'm just contrary I think. |

Playing this and the original back to back, my complaint there was that it was monotone and emotionless. Here, it's that but also fake gruff. She sounds like she's perpetually holding in a poo. It's a shame too, cause the first time I heard her was in Life is Strange, where she had much more range. It's like the VO director told her to be lady Vin Diesel in these games. |

OLED is a game-changer for PS5. You gotta be handsome and rich though.
I’m staying disciplined here, not getting Elden Ring until this is finished.
Every time I start playing new games I’ll drop the old one. I’m half gutted because HFW is stopping my DL2 progress.
For me HFW is easily a true great by now. Elden Ring hype is a lot but this weekend is all about Horizon.

Because I am a moron, I bought both Elden Ring and Horizon FW.
Now I've made three or four attempts to play Horizon Zero Dawn, and, lo and behold, I actually finished it last weekend. I never liked it all that much, but I did like the combat enough to buy Forbidden West, and I must say I am totally blown away by how good it is. I am coming directly from finishing Zero Dawn (well, I just said that), and while it is of course a very similar game, I am not sure I've ever seen such a huge jump in quality between a game and its sequel. Everything is better, everything that annoyed me has been fixed, and it plays like a dream now. Meelee is fun, everything (whether melee or arrows) has so much impact now, the cutscenes are gorgeous, it doens't take itself quite so serious anymore, the weapon upgrades, the armour options, the skilltree - it's all so much better.

I concur with this assessment, it's a definite step up from the last game which didn't really grab me honestly. This one really has, it even has side quests that don't feel like a chore. Some of my gripes though are dodging is almost ineffective based on how enemies seem to auto lock on you when attacking with precision, in flummoxed at how there isn't a block button with how much melee combat is a real focus now and the climbing is janky as fuck when you compare it to something like the Uncharted series. It's still a brilliant game that doesn't seem to insult my time with its open world and missions, I'm looking at you AC Valhalla, possibly one of the most boring games I've played in a long time.

For me it’s a massive leap up in quality all round.
HZD was their first 3rd person game. They’ve clearly learnt massive lessons to make big improvements.
