I think it's over sharpening that causes it, it looks like when you overdo it with Nvidia filters.

I've got it on resolution mode and normally it's performance mode all the way but this hasn't felt so bad. I haven't looked at it in 60fps though, I know as soon as I do I end up switching between the two constantly.

I'd definitely like an option to lock off the other graphics mode once you've made your choice.

Ha, 100%. I haven't made it from one map marker to the next yet without changing graphics mode at least 3 times along the way. It's infuriating.

I managed resolution mode for less than 10 seconds.. can't handle the choppyness.
On a gameplay note.. is is better to do all the side quests as they come up or go straight for the story.
I'm finding interest in dropping off but don't wanna get in with the story if not being levelled up enough will make me hit a brick wall

I'm still in the tutorialy open world bit at the moment but sidequests haven't been too intrusive so far, not over saturated and they have all been good quality.
I do worry once the game opens up that there's going to be 150 different side quests and my focus and interest is going to fade as I move further away from the main quest though.

If it’s anything like the original if you side quest too much you’ll be ridiculously OP, but if you stick to just the story missions you’ll run into the occasional soft level gate where you’re woefully under leveled and would struggle without cheesing or going super tactical.

Example from the original - first time I played I went into the cauldron sigma as soon as it appeared and was practically one-shotted by the bellowback boss every time, I think it ended up taking about half an hour of mostly running away to beat him, not counting the numerous deaths up to that point. Recently I went at it at something like level 15 and twatted him in about ten seconds flat.

I'll probably stick doing the ones on the way to the story and try avoid the backracking to search other quests out.

I'm having to do some side stuff now as I forged on with the story and ended up 5 levels under what was recommended . The side missions so far have held my attention surprisingly so all good so far.

The side quests seem actually pretty decent, feeding into bigger stories and giving decent XP and rewards.

Yeah the side stuff I've done has been good, they tend to span a few different missions and don't seem to be fetch quests or kill X enemies.

I'm still at the deaths door mission and got to level 11, it says it's a level 10 mission so I'll press on as it's getting to the tedious point just doing all the bits to get XP
I am enjoying it as I'm still playing it after the weekend I bought it. Many games dont get that

I’m up to the bit of finding 3 things. That’s all I’ll say. Basically left the base thing.
I don’t normally go this intense on a game but in recent memory only this, God of War and Cyberpunk have done that to me.
I’m now backtracking ‘East’ (big area) because there’s loads of area still untouched.
A few hours back I was in that area where there’s loads more red stuff coming out of plants. Yes, got to admit, that particular part looked rough in Performance.

Finally started this, and yeah, it looks unbelievable. Nothing comes close on a technical level IMO, from the character models, to the density of the vegetation to the way the sunlight shines through the crevices. It's gorgeous.
I also like that Aloy has better melee attacks now.

A good video about the issues some folks are having with HZD:FW. This guy does a lot of good videos on set-ups for a range of TVs if you are interested. youtu.be/v3pyEiLmOeM

Yep, there's no chance that's the case. I've played everything decent the console has released up to now and had zero issues like this with any other title. I'm sure people aren't lying when they say they don't notice it; everyone's eyes are a bit different and we all sit at different distances etc. But it's there, and it's the game, nothing else.

I've started to see issues with the lighting now in places. Mostly when going from dark into light and vice versa, like leaving a cave for example.

Think I'll hold off till this gets patched properly. Not as if I have nothing else to play..

Yep, I'm enjoying it so much that I want it to be the best version it can be, so happy to put it on the shelf for a week or two while they sort it.

Yeah, I’m enjoying it but I am surprised a few of the issues weren’t called out in previews. Just the opening credit scene where she rides the charger had a ton of pop-in and weird glitches where stuff just vanished or didn’t render properly.

Yeah I've noticed quite a bit of pop-in in the cutscenes myself. Along with that age old issue these games with real time dialogue sequences seem to have of NPC's doing their best Grandpa Simpson at the burlesque club impression and completely glitching out when they come into shot.

I think it's recommended to pick the level 22(?) story path first when given the choice even if you're not that level yet, as it's piss easy and gives you the underwater breathing ability I've stayed away from the level 18 cauldron but might give that a go next as I'm almost there.

Oh really? I picked the easiest one first (level 17?).
Haven’t done anything to progress it though. I’ve gone back easy to explore more of the map. Surprised it had pushed me forward when at least quarter of the east part was still uncovered.
It took me ages to realise ‘this’ is forbidden west. I thought we’d be travelling again, cut scene etc, but this map is it.
I’m sure further towards the west there will be plenty of San Fran style areas ;-)
Also, no major graphic issues for me. Yes the red stuff in that red area of the map looked dodgy but most of the game is fantastic. Graphically beautiful.
I think if you over-analyse it too much you’ll always find issues that bug you more than others.

Isn’t that only because of a barrage of feedback from fans?
The devs put it out at this quality. I’m 99% happy with it tbh. Looks amazing. Guess I’m seeing the ‘art’ more than looking at the detail.

Not really. It’s not DF levels of forensic frame counting it’s very obvious bugs.

I've hit one glitch by managing to clip into a room in a ruined prison on the southern end of the map, that I got stuck in- apart from that, nothing else. I've just finished the first 'proper' cauldron (robo-hippos die very easily to explosive spikes), finished off a couple of side-quests and have just got in touch with the idiot farmers' alliance, so I expect to be fixing their problems very soon.
Loving the game still, although I die very VERY quickly to swarms of smaller machines.
