My general plan is to grow on 2 plants of each type. But maybe I should grow as many as possible and get rich in tomato futures...

So, I just bought a rotavator for all the veggie patches, fuck that digging shit, I'd been looking at second hand ones off marketplace for a while but not a lot of luck so have bought a new one, cheapy electric jobby, will also be useful for when we eventually re-seed the lawn which is basically like the Alps atm.

Have you called it Mr Rotovator yet?

I saw Mr Motivator once, on a zebra crossing in Croydon, my only claim to fame.

I got one last year. Did you get the basic one from screwfix by any chance?
Top tip if you haven’t used it already is they generally work better/easier going backwards. Ie don’t push it through the ground, take it past the spot you want and then pull it back towards you. Tends to dig into the soil better.
It’s a fun machine to use

It's the top model from Vonhaus which I managed to get for £116, it seems to get favourable reviews but we shall see ....

We had one back in the day. A petrol one that dad got from a jumble sale. It was a beast and took no shit from the heavy London clay soil!!

In other news, I've planted out my rhubarb crowns and sweet peas. And the tomato seedlings are now in grow bags on the green house. And the first pea pods are showing. 😊

Mrs Dogbot is fully no dig now, which is a happy state of affairs.
Veg and herb gardens look very good for it, too. We have lettuce, corn, beets, kale, leeks, cukes and all manner of beans looking super healthy.

My olive tree has suffered a set-back during that winter snap in February. It's now dropped all of its leaves it's still green under the bark but I'm not sure it's going to recover now. Bollocks. I'd got it massive too and it was just starting to show signs of fruit. Shitbags.

We lost 3 box hedges last year to a plague of moth caterpillars. Despite the RHS saying they would recover, not a chance.

Yeah my neighbour has an olive tree but it's in a pot - it survived because the cold snap only affected the amount of water in the pot. Whereas mine is in the ground so it had loads more frozen water around the roots I'll be so happy if a few shoots start, but I'm not holding my breath.

Any houseplant aficionados? I've got motherfucking thrips on my motherfucking ficus elastica, and I don't know how to get rid of them for good. Their little eggs/larvae and adults seem to spawn despite my washing the leaves with soapy water, spraying neem oil on the soil, bottom watering, and placing sticky traps in the pot.

Have you tried completely repotting and replacing the soil? Might be an infestation in the soil itself, I've had pest issues resolved by this before (might not be the solution for this particular type though).

Finally managed to get the lawnmower over the lawn, on the highest setting. In places it was nearly knee height. Will go over it again next week hopefully.

Got my clover lawn seed today, am also going to mix some wildflower seed mix into it too and overseed the garden in the coming week and say goodbye to my patchy normal lawn.

I over seeded on the weekend, hoping for some growth by this weekend in the barer patches...

I need to do that too but it's so wet that it wouldn't take scarifying or anything yet. Any seeds would just drown.

I replaced the whole lot of old soil for those clay granules. Dropped an older leaf or two but seems to be holding up for now.

I've tried forcing one of my rhubarb crowns with a big plastic pot. Seems to be working. A couple of stalks are at a decent length but I don't think there's enough yet to make it worth a harvest. I'll wait till after Easter and re-assess. Reading online it tells you to only try it with 2 y/o crowns. I only put mine in a year ago. Oops.
