Heh, I've been considering getting the mower out. Entire garden is a bit of a state at the moment tbh, but usually looks better after a mow.
Feel like I need to book a month off just to get on top of things.

Yeah, we didn't close down properly really, the change in the weather caught us out. Think it's the last year for the kids' trampoline and sandpit. Both falling apart and they're too big for them really. Happy and sad about it in equal measure

My peas and sweet peas have sprouted!! The peas halted during the previous cold snap but have now definitely emerged. Have also bought some tomato seeds and spring onions.

Absolutely agree with getting a greenhouse, they are fantastic. Mrs Dogbot prefers Charles Dowding to Monty Don these days, though. His no dig stuff is really interesting. charlesdowding.co.uk/start-here/

I've love a greenhouse but no room.
Also! You shouldn't be mowing, sweeping or tidying yet! insects are still using the mess to live in still. You want to start tidying once the weather hits about 10 degrees constantly, or you'll kill loads of life, you fucking monsters.

have we left it too late to plant cherry tomatoes? what do we need as a little project for a tiny person? Is indoor only possible (strong sunlight porch)? Can you get tiny one plant grow bags? Pretend you're talking to an idiot Many thanks in advance, An Idiot

No need for grow bags, you can use these new fangled “pots” that are available now. Plant anytime from now to next month for indoors. Let the cold snap pass before sowing outdoors

Ooh I think we have some pots somewhere, clever stuff Um, any particular type of medium (pref available in very small quantities) or can I just scoop some soil out the garden? (I really am utterly clueless on this) (and on other things)

Loads of time left, one of the biggest mistakes gardeners make is sowing too soon when seedlings struggle for daylight.

You have a choice of tumbling or upright tomatoes. Tumblers work well from a hanging basket or window box. Once you've sown the seeds keep the pot somewhere warm to encourage them to sprout, then make sure there is plenty of sunshine. After frost risk has passed (mid-April ish) think of a sunny spot for the plants to grow, preferably against a south or west facing wall.

Sorry, just re-read your post. A sunny porch is ideal - just like a greenhouse. Just be sure to water regularly - once the fruit comes if you water irregularly you'll get split skins.

Including the time lapse camera part? I don't know if I'm just a fool for 'Big Seed', but I was under the impression that the seeds from fruit don't always produce reliable plants and fruit. Better to buy packet seeds.

With live camera feed as well so my girls can see progress when they're not with me! I'd probably do both actually, fruit and packet to compare.

I'd like to try setting up a time lapse camera - I really want Alastair Jr to do it as a Computer Science GCSE type project. I'm sure he could do it with a Raspberry Pi if he could just turn his phone off for long enough...

Better to buy packet seeds. IME, they don't always, but they can. Peppers are usually pretty reliable and easy to grow. Fruit, less so. If you want vegetables, you're better off with seeds, I think.
