Right, following this advice, does any one want a map? I'll make you a lovely map to your specifications, let's say £12.50ish an hour.

How lovely would this map be? I'd pay 12.50 for a lovely map. 600dpi at A3/A2 lovely. Maybe 1200dpi if the computer's feeling generous. And it's £12.50 p/h! I'm not made of maps.

That sounds great. Especially next to my student special of jacket potato and cheese. (I love it really)

In Australia a map of Tasmania may not mean what you think it means.

Not sure this is money saving but I've not had a "holiday" since 2016. I've gone to France to visit family for a few days but that's hardly a holiday.
Anyway - I'm currently WFH and considering eschewing my low holiday allowance and just finding a cottage or somewhere with good wifi to spend a few days in quiet season - Airbnb.

Learn how to cook. Buy groceries once a week. Rather than planning a menu and then buing that, pick what's on sale and improvise. Get a big freezer so you can stockpile protein whenever it's on sale. Food is usually one of the biggest expenses. Also, do an inventory of your expenses, what is the rough split of things? Focus where it matters. Try this www.youneedabudget.com/

Just use Youtube Free with an adblocker. Or better still, as I learned today, if you want to block most ads and trackers from everywhere, change your DNS to the Adguard DNS. Default servers If you want to block ads and trackers. IPv4: 94.140.14.140 94.140.14.141 IPv6: 2a10:50c0::1:ff 2a10:50c0::2:ff Family protection servers If you want to block adult content, enable safe search and safe mode options wherever possible, and also block ads and trackers. It's not perfect, but a quick test on the xbox had it blocking 99% of the ads. YMMV.

Get prescriptions for your drugs I wish I could. But for actual long term medications, it could be worth getting a prepayment certificate. £108.10 gets you 12 months of prescriptions (you can pay in 10 instalments of £10.81), so even if you only have one prescription a month you'll still save £4.10, two or more per month and you've halved your costs or better.

It works as a dns server for your local network and there are loads of blocklists out there for ads and other things. I don't see ads on YouTube, or the itv/C4/uktv apps on my smart TV, or on any of my consoles.

I don't know why I haven't just used my spare Pi 3... Guess I always think "I'll find another project for it" Set it up on my NAS to play around with and it seemed great, but that's not always on so far from ideal for DNS...
How's performance on the OG single core ones with phat SD cards? I also have a spare one of those and they sip less power so might give that a try.
Fuck it, something to play around with this weekend!

Fuck it, something to play around with this weekend! Fine, if it's just running pihole even a Pi zero is fine so long as you don't get it to keep logs longer than a couple of weeks. A few blocklist are maintained on github, this is a good set to start with github.com/StevenBlack/hosts

Well I had a couple to spare and I've cancelled my £1.25 YouTube premium sub, so there!
I've gone from "you're still getting my money but fuck you, Google!", to a more standard "fuck you, Google!".
