Since it's currently penalty free to come out of that tariff, I'll fix and if the variable seems not a catastrophe later in the year I'll switch to that. Nearly everyone's saying it will be the end of days though.
I think there's a gap in the market for artisanal coal: locally sourced, pit to table, all packaged up in nice faux Aesop styling.

The tariffs Octopus were offering me were way higher than the variable rate I'm on. Fucked if I know what to do.

How is the baked bean provision in NZ? The equivalent of Heinz are Watties, they definitely taste different, but they're fine. Although I recently had some Heinz beans for the first time in ages and it was a bit of a moment. There's obviously some connection with Heinz given the similarity of the branding. Beans on toast is a breakfast staple here, whereas it's always been a no-effort lunch or tea for me.

We're stuck in limbo with Bulb. No other company will take us while they're still under special measures.

Maybe we can stay nationalised.

Lizard. Interesting. Probably like Walkers and Lays in the crisp world, but recipe slightly adjusted for local preferences. cubby probably for the best - there's literally no other good deals out there on the market.

As a bean connoisseur the big difference between UK baked beans and the baked beans found in the colonies is the sugar content.
Heinz UK beans having 4.7g of suger (per 100g) and Watties beans 7.4 g (per 100G).
Calorie wise per 100g we have Heinz at 78 kcal and Watties at 102 kcal,
So if you find yourself getting fat in New Zealand blame the beans and the sauces.

Yikes. I'm glad I always go for the reduced salt and sugar versions. Countdown own-brand beans aren't too bad either.

Countdown own-brand beans aren't too bad either. Are they beans shaped like vowels and consonants and you only have 30 seconds to eat them?

You do have to wonder that, if this is a global thing (and it seems to be), it might be the spur to move things to renewables. One can only hope.
The thing with the gas and oil oligarchs is they know their days are numbered. Perhaps not in the lifetimes of those in the upper echelons but certainly the grandkids and such.
But then, capitalism at its worst is short sighted and society encourages greedy psychopaths to find opportunities.
Am I saying I would be in favour of culling psychopaths? Yes. Yes I am.

I’ve got some Heinz beans left over from the Brexit stockpile. Not sure whether to cash out now or Hodl a bit longer.

It was only the other day I noticed Heinz do different flavours of beans. Was in Asda and they had chilli, cheese, barbecue and a few others I think. I was surprised to find the barbecue ones were actually quite nice, I was expecting them to be rancid. You couldn't pay me enough to try the cheese ones though.

We eat loads of beans, borlotti, cannellini, Spanish white beans etc. Despite the noticeable flatulence increase, they are awesome.
I do wonder if I eat baked beans again would a)my taste buds would explode at how awesome they are or b) I be disappointed at how overly sweet they are (like the great creme egg disappointment of 2015)

The cheese one sounds weird, why would you not just buy normal ones and grate some over to melt in...

Can't wait for the RPI + 3.6% all phone/internet providers kindly shaft us with each April. Yeah I didn't know that was a thing, until I was looking at switching from my 8 year old sim only contract with three, which has never changed in price, to adding O2 onto my virgin package (thought might get a good deal). Until I saw that rpi + 3.6% bollox. That is absolutely insane compounded.

You do have to wonder that, if this is a global thing (and it seems to be), it might be the spur to move things to renewables. One can only hope. Well according to the article above renewables are only making things worse seemingly because the energy provider mafia have fucked it up completely. At least in Australia that is. I don't know really but if anything it's just another example of why we need to cut the cord as much as possible with these pricks. Also as a general comment, beans are shite in any form. Tinned spaghetti is fine though but there is something wrong with the UK Heinz cans I never could quite put my finger on. I had it down to EU regs and salt content although never looked into it so sugar could be it but to my mind they are too sweet over here.

Tinned spaghetti is just gross mushy spaghetti though as if you cooked it for about 4 hours
Heinz curry beans are nice
edit: I just had a look online and apparently there has been a curry beanz recipe change that is not as good as it used to be so I can't vouch for the current generation. Purchase at your own risk
