Of course it’s relatively shitty for everyone affected but if you’re living in luxury it’s not quite the same as people down the road who you struggling to feed themselves.

HTF is a can of Heinz Baked Beans £1 now What the actual fuck? I didn't even bother looking at prices last time we did a shop and grabbed some branston ones instead. The unstackable bastards aren't going in my cupboard any more. Especially not at that price! This sort of stuff makes my pitiful pay increase in my last job even more insulting. 🤣 One of life's mysteries. I noticed Asda's own shite stacks perfectly fine.

He never said it was though.
He also said that he is lucky as he knows they can cut back.

Well, this is the thing, right? Clem is the traditional Tory demographic. Six figure household income, nice house, two kids, two cars*. They are supposed to be bending over backwards to get his vote and all they do is fuck him continuously. If they offer a middle class, white (?) guy absolutely nothing then what do they offer and who the fuck are they offering it to?
*this is obviously not the first time I’ve thought about this, hence the name

Luckily I got a new job. But after no payrises where I work for 2 years and then they finally got performance related pay boosts through, after 7 months of negotiating with the unions about it, the week after I resigned they came up with a 4% raise. Which was like "Thanks for that... it's still a lot less than inflation though". Let alone 2-3 years of inflation.

I’m not complaining about the rising cost of living meaning that I may have to reduce some luxuries , am I? Also, money on Naples Pizza and technogel is never, ever wasted

Actually thinking about it this is the first time in years I am actually caring about money. I am on 75k, no mortgage, live in a shared flat with cheqp shared rent, no commute and literally my only non house expense is my motorbike.
I am the ultimate disposable income cunt who wastes all my money on books, board games and consoles. And even I am looking at being careful. If I am tightening my belt then fucking hell, the average family must be utterly fucking terrified.

We had a recent payrise structure agreed for the next few years. Inflation has gone through the roof since then and the unions reaction has been tough shit deal with it as far as I can see.

Much easier to concentrate on boomers with paid for property and no debt and all classes of ukippers who want to get rid of all the foreigners.

Isn't raising taxes to pay for social care the responsible thing to do?

An NI increase is disproportionate compared to taxing the higher levels of earned and unearned income. But that would be unTory

Isn't raising taxes to pay for social care the responsible thing to do? Depends on who they are taxing. Should somebody who earns 20k per year and has two kids to feed pay the same as Jacob Rees Mogg?

We've got an annoyingly obstructionist kind of Union setup (though I am leaving). Where most the members and key people either work on maintaining obsolete tech or were hired to deal with the millennium bug in COBOL, then with the cash out they got bought houses near the office in London 20 years ago when people could afford to do that. Their position is always if anyone gets a payrise everyone gets one and nobody should be made redundant. So we keep haemorrhaging young people as any attempt to say get women or BAME candidates in the bottom of their pay bracket a raise of 5% and not anyone else gets stonewalled with 1% for everyone. All payrises have to go through them as well.

Top rate of tax should be 70% for what I dunno, anything over 500k. And in work poverty should be a fucking impossibility!
It's funny when you Google which country has the fairest tax system, "fair" seems to wildly open to interpretation!
I'll moan now at n.i hikes, but I would like care when I, or anyone else for that matter, needs it!

Also, own brand beans cost about a 1/4 the price of Heinz beans. I always buy whatever is the cheapest brand. No they’re not as “nice” but you get used to them and you save a lot of money. It’s not a great feeling looking at the name brands you like and grabbing the supermarket’ budget brand, but its better than your bill at the till being double. And to be honest, the difference in taste isn’t that great.
