Croatia is hardly going to be more dangerous than Greece or Italy

I don't think the Balkan countries will be on many visitor's lists for the foreseeable... Why not? As a tourist, you can get out fast, and it's not like there's troubles in every one of them.
Croatia, though, is also the most expensive one. Not muach cheaper than Italy, Spain or France.

Montenegro had some lovely areas and was still dirt cheap when I went. Venture inland though and it becomes Soviet era infrastructure and dodgy shanty town new builds.
There were abandoned half-built new houses all over the coast as well, which were falling down hillsides.

[br You use kitkats during sex? Kinky. I got the snip a few years back, be thing I ever did. Granted if you're not with a long term partner you'd still need protection but for me and Mrs Vader it's made life much easier.

You can still slip a couple of fingers in without protection.

Had our update through from Bulb: everything up by 50%. ~£1200 for a (poorly-insulated, tbh) one-bed apartment. Such a shame I won't be able to take advantage of that 'loophole' and claim a little bit back to cover WFH costs.

I see we're back to panic buying petrol this afternoon if around here is anything to go by.
Society is so close to the edge of lunacy it really defies belief sometimes.

askew - you should be able to do the tax code change at least, which just increases your tax free allowance by however much. Doable in a few clicks without faffing with self assessments. I probably need to do that again now that I've mentioned it...

And yet they've jacked up the electricity by £500 a year.

I've just looked at money supermarket and I think I would be staring with bulb anyway. Some of them want over 500 a month, who the fuck is using these companies.

Can't even leave bulb at the moment either can you? We're looking at moving to Octopus and this time they haven't said it would be a problem. We're going to get a fixed rate to lock down the next year as Bulb are due to raise prices in April and already they've raised their standing charges by double.

I was moved to Shell energy and they told me to expect an £800 increase over the next year. I went to fill up (ahead of the masses) at the cheapest petrol station in the town yesterday, just a third of the tank but cost me £30. Everything is going fookin nuts.

Basically the same as we're paying with bulb now if you factor in the standing charge increases, but fixed for the year. So it should working out cheaper given the price increases that will happen soon.

Working from home has got a lot more expensive!!!!!
I really hope my solar panels are not further delayed, they should save me a bundle and also get me increased profits on way I sell back to grid in excess.

My annual bill is going up from £1248 to £1913 on e-on next. Probably not much a hike as others but still...

I'm really surprised by these bill amounts. My monthly electricity bill is around £60 - £70 with Eon Next. Though it strangely dropped to £35 last month.
So annually its under a £1000. Ground floor 2 bed apartment but I'm home all day so usage is fairly high. No gas but the heating is on permanently and I've got fairly heavy usage of devices.
Seeing some of these monthly bills make me wonder if I'm going to get clobbered with a huge bill when I move due to a faulty meter.

Mine is nuts... My fixed was 877 last year. This year fixed is 2200...! Or I can do nothing and go on variable tariff currently estimated to be 1160 for next year. But fuck knows how that might fluctuate in the next 12 months.
This is with Octopus. I've been putting off deciding, but my fixed offer was a mere 1600 or so when they contacted me a month ago.

Annual increase of just under £600 on electricity and just over £800 on gas for me. Crazy.

My household is fortunate enough that we can swallow the cost but to a lot of households this is truly crippling. How the fuck is a minimum wage household supposed to deal with this.

We are a 200 sq m draughty solid walled Edwardian house, with an inhabitant (she shall not be identified) that is cold if thermostat is below 21.5.. at least we are terraced. Can't imagine bills if we were detached!!!

They aren't, tbh. 100% economy will tank. Those people most likely have to commute for work which means eating more into fuel given Ukraine, etc. They'll have to ask for a wage rise, which their company won't give, so they'll have to not spend anything else - or worse. If pubs and shit thought it was bad before, at least they had furlough. We'll also probably see quite a lot of deaths from it. Unless we, like, move quickly to renewables and tax the rich better. Which won't happen.

I really hope my solar panels are not further delayed There might come a time to secure your solar panels with barbed wire. I really hope not, but we are still very dependent on fossil fuels, and if the logistics of those are disrupted, it's gonna get dark and cold pretty fast.

I’ve had a similar email from Shell who we got moved to when our supplier went bust… about a £1,500 annual increase (dual fuel). Jesus. We are a family of 5 and the house is about 100 years old so has no real insulation (not even cavity walls) so it’s no surprise that we are above average in terms of energy use, but this is surely unsustainable for many people.
