How much were your batteries and what's your setup?
I'm hovering around £1 a day of energy. 2.5KW solar, waiting to go on SEG. Considering batteries and insulation - as mentioned before.
Low consumption house.

Gave Admiral a ring to cancel my renewal and they dropped the price from £1440 to £819. A touch more than Marshmallow quoted, but less faff and extras like euro cover which I need as standard. Taking my wife off as a named driver knocked 400 quid off! She doesn’t drive it anyway, now she never will

For car insurance? What are you driving?
My Audi is only £230 a year.

I’ve had the same 340i since 2016, insurance has never been lower than 600 due to London weighting

Yes, I'm not sure I need that much culture in my life tbh if it keeps my insurance a good 600quid less than 'stoofs.

Mine renewed this week and I was charged another £100 for car and home. Rang them up... "Oh we can apply a discount of £70 on the car and £12 on the home insurance. Um yes. Obviously apply these "discounts" why not apply them automatically? Surely no one would decine them.

You mean there were policy choices that could make a difference?!

I think it's a much better idea if we just keep saying it's our policy to reduce it, but then do absolutely nothing to actually help that. It'll just come down naturally eventually... Hopefully.

Some crazy rates on the agile Octopus tariff today. Can’t be bad if they are going to pay me to charge the car for a few hours.

I joined that octopus tracker yesterday but I’ve no idea if it’s worth it. Just took a punt. All depends on winter - I’m not even in the country currently so using feck all leccy and zero gas.

Today is very much the exception but from around 11am to 4pm they are paying you varying rates p/kwh you use. For example, 2-3pm they will pay you almost 20p p/kwh.

It's definitely worth switching to the tracker, especially given today's prices! It's been hovering around half of the July price per unit recently, but today's electricity is at 8.71p per KWh which is bloody mental (July cap is 30p elec/ 8p gas) I'm bloody glad that I switched back in Feb, anyway.
Just make sure you keep an eye on it ever going back up, and be ready to switch back if needed.

Same here, despite not having a smart meter. Apparently they'll average use out, I'll just make sure I put in weekly meter readings until they can actually fit a meter for me.

Interesting as I was told they could only do it with a smart meter but fitted it last week. Obviously quicker to fit on the mainland.

Genuine question, me and the wife have about £7,000 in credit card debt which is a constant weight on my mind. I always manage to get it down, but then catastrophe A, B or C happens and suddenly I'm back at square one. Same old story. Anyway I'm currently on 2.45% fixed interest mortgage and can afford to either overpay about £400 on the mortgage or keep hammering away at the credit cards. Am I right in thinking that at this point in time it makes more sense to overpay the mortgage? Considering I can switch credit cards to other 0% deals.
I don't think my puny brain will let me ignore credit card debt and overpay on the mortgage
