That seems like a fairly awful take.

When the gulf stream collapses, rising temperatures won't be a problem in Europe. Britain will be the new Iceland, but without the hot springs or geothermal plants.

As I said it was something to do with the adaptations in place.
Likesay, happy for that to be wrong and enjoy a warmer, shitter Britain but the impression I got was that Europe is woefully unprepared for changing climate, compared to places that already have variable weather.

There's an economist article where they explain the unpreparedness of Europe is due to our reluctance to change. It's not exactly a hot take. We are slow to adopt new tech.

Yeah, but that’s not the same as “Europe will be the worst affected by climate change”. And kinda Euro-centric to an offensive degree.

I think the gist is that Europe is going to face the most changes due to being ill-prepared for climate change, large scale migration due to the same issues and the combined impact meaning that our region will have to do the most adapting.
But yes, something something ERG

We're about to end our fixed rate as of end Jan. Going from £320 this quarter to £1200 next ... Ermagerd!

All I can say is that you've been very lucky so far! It's absolutely stung big time! £300 a month for us and that's to basically be cold, but not frozen.

Aye we've been lucky to have got into a fixed term just before it hit. We've been taking stock of outgoings and the food bill has quardupled.
Looks like we're going on a diet.

For a bit more money than the heated car seat you can get a heated vest/gilet powered by a USB power bank in its pocket. Might be more useful for people working from home to wander about the house in but stay warm. I'm wearing one of those right now. They are bloody lifesavers

My fixed ran out *just in time* to get absolutely fucking shafted. I'm on 280 a month at the minute, and that's *just* for electricity (no gas supply)

Currently 16 degrees in the house, I have 4 layers on, including an Oodie. I am still cold.

No idea what the temp is in my house, but I've got 4 layers on + scarf and yeah, still cold. Alive, but cold.
Awesome.
I've got to forage for some logs later to get a fire going. I'll see if I can catch a lizard for tea.

Ah, what am I talking about, I've got a barometer that has a temp scale too. 14.4 degrees in here.

My thermostat is set to 20C, currently on £290 a month for electricity and gas but I've yielded and increased the temp at weekend to 21C in the morning cause my son is home.
So fuck knows what my bill will be come March.
