Fever Ray - Fever Ray
Is it my imagination, or is Fever Ray just as good as The Knife, if not (whisper it) even better?

This wasnt on streaming for ages because I think the lead singer found it to be a bit of a creep-like milstone but it seems its back as the algorithm just suggested I listen to it and listen to I did and it still rules. All hail the algorithm.
(I think the algorithm has been activated by Midnight Club on Netflix. This plays over the credits of episode one (and the dad listens to STP in the kitchen. Go, sound guy))

YouTube threw this into my suggestions and I have no idea why, but it's decent so here we are:

VNV Nation is currently on repeat for me today... probably explains why the cats have buggered off. Ha, didn’t see this. Bloody hell man. VNV Nation. I’ve not listened to him for…christ…twenty years. When did futureperfect come out. That was the last album I listened to. I’m popping it on right now! Shit, I've just remembered a load of other stuff I used to listen to around that time. Icon of Coil, Covenant, Front 242, Retrosic, Fiendflug, Grendel, Wumpscut. It's all coming back to me!

Who wouldn't love some sombre, kinda gothy jazz elevator music? Most people.
But I'm weird so this is aces.

Listening to the Mayfield Spooky posted after Bohren & Der Club of Gore made me think of this:
One day I'll map out how the various artists in my musical tastes interlink. I'm interested what the linchpin will be.

I'm not familiar with them, but it gives me Daddy G or Mushroom produced Massive Attack vibes, and that's always a good thing.

All from the GT1 soundtrack.
I'm sure I read years ago Kazunori Yamauchi picked the music, I love that personal touch it's a shame you rarely see that anymore.
Anyone got other soundtracks from games they love listening to? Not original music either, stuff from bands that have been picked for a game soundtrack.

Oooooh there's a free app called stats.fm for Spotify that shows all your usage. Apparently my favourite artists over the past 6 months are Post Malone, run the jewels, Megadeth, pusha t, Freddie Gibbs, Jessie reyez, Liam Bailey, Camilla Cabello, benny the butcher and let's eat grandma. A nice variety I feel Number 1 song over same period summer time by vybz Kartel

The Knife - Silent Shout
I've been going back and forth on the 'Fever Ray vs. The Knife' debate I posited earlier in the week. Were it not for this album, I don't think I could pick favourites between The Knife/Fever Ray and Deep Cuts/Plunge; Silent Shout, however, blows 'em all clear out of the water.

Nasty looking stage-dive failure to catch before the band even gets started here

But yeah, GT's soundtrack was a banger. Whenever As Heaven is Wide hits, I knew I was winning that race.

Been listening to a load of Band-Maid from Japan recently. Seen them twice live in London and I was hoping they'd come again this year but instead of dates around the world they just went with a US tour so I'm nice and bitter at the moment

Very much liking the album this comes from - NULA by VUKOVI - at the moment. It makes more sense of the sci-fi framing and “I AM NULA” mid-section to have this song in context of the rest, but as far as I’m concerned this is a certified banger regardless.

Loaded on PS1 got me started on Pop Will Eat Itself and the two are still fully linked in my mind.
